    Amour décolorées {EveIris & Sanquin}

    Name: Evon Lyren
Age: Appears 19-20, is around her 50's to 60's.
    Appearance:

    --------------------------------------

Evon Lyren was found seated in the back of a limousine. The seats made of the finest leather and she was surprised to see how spacious it was in the back. The driver had even offered her something to eat or drink and she quickly refused, fearing that she would spill her drink. The last thing she needed to do was make a mess, there was no way she could afford to cover it. She had never ridden in anything so pristine that it made her uncomfortable and nervous. Her medium length black hair was tied up in a high pony tail as she sat anxiously, staring out at the window. Her orbs fixed on the full moon and her head filled with thoughts and worries. She never knew her parents had a family friend until quite recently and what made things worse was that they wished for her to live with him because she wasn't ‘old’ enough. Snorting to herself at the ridiculous thought, how could not be old enough.

“Miss. Lyren?” she snapped out of her thoughts to realize that they had finally come to a stop. Three hours had merely passed like nothing and she couldn’t explain why she felt so hesitant to get out of the limousine. The driver got out of his seat with ease and opened the door for her, grunting softly as if to hint to her to get out. A sigh escaped passed her cracked lips as she finally stepped out to face the large mansion in front of her. A cold breeze blew by her and she heard the trunk of the limo being shut close behind her. Turning her head, the driver set her handed her bag whilst offering a gentle smile. “Thank you,” she whispered softly as she stared at the building. She was scared and worried over who this mystery man was, was he someone she would like? The large house intimidated her, but she knew she couldn’t stand out there all night. Finally making her way up the stairs she eyed the elegant doorknob that probably was an antique by way it was designed. She didn't even get a chance to touch it because the door had opened on its own and a maid with light blonde hair greeted her before taking her bag off her.

“You’re early, we had not expected you to arrive yet,” she explained before moving aside so Evon could enter. She was clad in the usual maid’s uniform but even that looked expensive in Evon’s eyes. “I’ll go ahead and take this to your room, the rest will tend to you,” she informed before walking off, not giving Evon the chance to disagree. She could easily have taken her belongings to her room, but of course the maids would probably get into trouble if she did that. Glancing to the side she saw two other maids who bowed before grabbing the rest of her belongings that she had brought and followed the first maid. There were three butlers found nearby all greeting her politely with manners, all this made her question how rich this man really was. Her eyes moved from figure to figure until she was literally inspecting the sophisticated yet elegant foyer. It was dark and there was little lighting, but it wasn’t a problem for Evon or probably anyone else that lived here for that matter.

“Miss. Lyren, if you done staring I’d like to take you to greet the Master. He has been waiting quite some time for you,” one of the butlers called out as Evon blinked. Nodding slightly she motioned for him to lead the way so she could finally meet this mysterious man. She wanted nothing more than to return back to the days she was happily living with her parents, but that was nothing but a dream now.

Name: Mathias Jericho McLaren. (Or just Mathias)
Age: Between 1030 and 1050 years old. He isn't entirely sure any more. But he looks like he's around age 30 to 35.
    Appearance:

    Personal butler: Martin

As for the other coven leader, I'll post him once he comes into the picture.

    --------------------------------------

Mathias had just finished his lunch - a fruit parfait with a bit of blood as 'sauce' on top. The man liked sweet things a lot, so preferred such things over what was considered healthy for a human. The advantage of being a vampire was that they could eat anything and get the same result in terms of nutrition. So they could eat what they liked. He himself preferred eating a little bit every day, rather than eating every few days. Kept things more interesting, which was a hard thing to achieve after having lived for so long already.

His personal butler came up to him, informing him that his guest had arrived. A youngster, to say the least. By vampire standards she had only just been born, a mere few decades ago. Though that was exactly the reason why she had to move in with him. Her parents had finally called in their favor, after well over a century. Her family had taken care of him while he had been sleeping. A full century he had remained in his special private chambers, and they had made sure nothing would happen to his mansion and coven. They had actually been part of it too, though unofficially. Mathias stood from his seat and nodded. "Very well, bring her to the lounge." He spoke, after which the man spoke a 'Right away sir', bowed, and left to inform the maid that was in charge of guiding Evon to the right room.

Mathias arrived there first. He moved to the refrigerator that held bottles of blood and various bottles of alcohol and took out a wine bottle. A fine, sweet white one that he thought went perfect with idle conversation or other such things that you did in the lounge. There he poured himself a glass, and one for his guest before taking a seat and waiting. Evon didn't arrive much later. There was a knock on the door from the maid, before she opened it and took a small bow towards Evon. "Please this way Miss Lyren." She spoke while motioning inside. Mathias turned his head towards the door, finally setting his eyes on the girl that would be living with him for the next few decades. After that she could make the decision to move out, or stay longer. Or he could kick her out at that time of course, though he wasn't the kind of man that he would do so without a really good reason.

"Welcome, Evon Lyren." He spoke, motioning towards the arm chair across his own. "Please take a seat. I took the liberty to pour you a glass of wine while I waited." He waited for her to sit down and for the maid to have left again before he spoke again. "I shall introduce myself properly, I guess. I am Mathias Jericho McLaren. Though you can just call me Mathias. I take it you have been informed of the situation?" He finished, wondering how much she knew and what he would have to fill her in with. Since he had to take care of her now he had signed her into the finest school within driving distance, and had even already found her a personal maid. It was expensive, but luckily he was one of the wealthiest vampires in the country, and thus didn't have to worry about money. One of the few perks of being alive for as long as he had been, and being the leader of a coven.

Evon found herself staring at the majestic paintings found hanging all over the walls of his home. Some were old, but very pleasant to look at, to the extent that she struggled to keep her attention focused on the maid in front of her. She wanted to stop and just stare, some were even realistic to the extent that Evon had nearly touched them, but she reminded herself to behave. She was in another’s home and despite not knowing who’s exactly she knew that she had to be respectful and well mannered. Her parents had brought her up well after all, so there was no excuse for her to misbehave.

Soon arriving at a large elegant door, Evon sighed knowing that she’d might as well get used to seeing such grand things. She lived in a simple house, one that had a small garden, two bedrooms, and a kitchen. It was so basic and ordinary that being here made her feel like she was dreaming. Once the door was open she stepped in, but couldn’t help but stop once she was inside. She didn’t have time to stare in awe or glance around like a child because she had caught sight of something much more important. The owner of this large home. Her eyes were fixed on his as they shared a moment of silence, she was unsure of what to say so naturally she was thankful that he started off.

As soon as he motioned for her to sit, she glanced back at the maid only to frown and mentally scold herself for being so nervous and anxious especially for no reason. With slow steps she strolled over to the arm chair and sat down, surprised at how soft and comfortable it was. Hearing the door close made her grow a little tense, but she tried her best not to show it. “I um. Well, somewhat. There was a letter given to me, something about someone taking care of me,” her voice was soft and weary. She had been having quite a rough time since the death of her parents, it had been a full week since their death and Evon still found herself crying herself to sleep every night. Evon failed to understand why her parents would send her to Mathias, surely she was old enough. She could find her own blood; she could easily get a job and survive just fine on her own, but her parents didn’t think of it that way.

Lifting the wine glass off the table she was careful not to drop it as she took a sip to taste how sweet it was. She was never a fan of wine and she drinking it just to look polite, but none of that mattered since she actually liked the taste. “To be honest, I’m a little hesitant about all this. I don’t feel like I need a guardian… not at this age,” she whispered the last part softly, her cheeks now a faint tinge of pink. Setting the glass down on the table she leaned forward slightly. “May I ask how you know my parents? They never mentioned anything about you… “

Evon looked quite timid and nervous at the moment. Which indicated all the more to Mathias that she was still too young to live on her own. There was more to the vampire world than just having a job and getting blood. A lot more, in fact. Which was partly why he would send her to college even though she had finished university already. Vampire schools weren't entirely like normal ones. You learned about vampires and how to live in the world in order to survive as well. Mostly during your college or university years. Mathias' eyes scanned the girl down and up a few times as she answered his question. And as he had expected, like most youngsters, she didn't think a guardian was still needed. A human trait, no doubt. As he had seen the same behavior in human teenagers. Though usually between age 14 and 20. "I am not the one that decided on how long a vampire needs to fully adjust to our society. However I do agree with them at this moment, that you are most likely not fully ready to live on your own. There is no rush, though, right? There are many hundreds, maybe even thousands of years ahead of you. So why rush into things that you can still spend an eternity doing in a few decades?" The man slowly sipped from his wine, his eyes still scanning her. Though now he focused more on her face. The way her muscles moved, how she reacted to different things, everything. It was one of the things he had learned in his life. It had almost come naturally, with vampire interaction among the older and more wealthy usually being a political game. Even in the most casual of settings vampires of higher stature were never truly casual. Apart from maybe in covens such as his own. Though he was an exception.

Then Evon asked a question of her own. An understandable one. One which he didn't mind answering either. "Unofficially, your parents were part of my coven. They didn't actively participate, but they were still close especially to me. I trusted your father the most out of all my members. Which is why I tasked him with the protection of my chambers as I slept. I slept for about 100 years, and during that time he loyally kept his word, taking care of things in my place. In return I granted him one favor. He could ask me anything, and if it was within my power, I would grant him his wish. Last year I received a letter from him, finally telling me what his wish was. Which was to take care of you to my best capabilities should the two of them pass away before your time to become independent." It was a simple explanation, but right now more wasn't needed. He could probably spend hours talking about her parents. What they had gone through together, how they were before her time, etc. But he didn't want to bore her with endless and confusing tales. Not at the moment at least. "As I said before, your parents wished for me to care for you to the best of my capabilities. So that is what I will do. I've arranged for a personal maid for you. To do menial tasks, to coordinate with the other servants, to answer questions, to aid if you're unsure of something, and also to escort you at your new school. Which brings me to my next point. I've entered you into Dominic college. I say college, but it houses preschool all the way to college. You'll be starting there in three days, after the weekend."

That was about all Mathias had to say at the moment. But to just send Evon away again while she had only just been seated would be rather rude. And if possible he wanted to have a good relationship with her. His mansion was large enough for them to never have to meet, but that would just be troublesome to say the least. And it would also go against her parents' wishes. "Is there anything you'd like to know? Or anything you'd like to request? Money is most likely not an issue, so if there's anything you need don't hesitate to ask." There were things even he didn't want to buy for fear of his fortune dwindling much faster than it could replenish itself. But surely anything a girl from a simple, middle class home could come up with wouldn't be too expensive for him to buy for her.

The sound of Evon’s glass being set back down on the table was heard as she sighed at his answer. He had a good point, there wasn’t much of a rush for her to be independent, but she felt awkward staying in such a large home. Especially with one that she considered a stranger, her parents may have been great friends with him, but it was awfully suspicious how they never spoke of him. She relaxed a little, knowing that she was tense just by speaking with him, but she was honestly growing annoyed and frustrated how it just seemed like this wasn’t a good idea.

Evon’s expression tighten once she heard that a letter had been sent out to him a year ago. The death of her parents weren’t a normal one; she knew they had been murdered. She had come home to see their bodies limp and in their own pool of blood, it was only a few days after that a letter came for her from a bank. Her parents knew of this, they knew that someone was after them, but she had no leads. Her parents didn’t have any ‘friends’ and they kept to themselves. They were just an ordinary family of vampires that minded their own business; there was nothing strange or suspicious. The fact that a letter was sent out last year meant that her father knew of it, it most definitely explained why they had been moving from place to place suddenly. Biting down on her lower lip she pondered further over the situation, wondering why anyone would have wanted them dead.

She snapped her attention back to him as she blinked with surprise. “You enrolled me into college? Why would you do that! You have no right to enroll me. I’m not going again.” Because they moved so often her father thought it would be best for her to enroll her, her father having stated that it was best for her to learn more about the world. She honestly felt it was a waste of her time. “I don’t need a personal maid; do I look incapable to you? Why are you treating me like a child?” She was upset and her temper flared something that she was used to for the past week. Ever since the discovery of her parent’s bodies she had reduced the amount of blood she had greatly. She couldn't stomach it because memories of the day would flash; filling her with all emotions she had felt that very moment was difficult to handle. She felt guilt whenever she had to drink for the past week, knowing that if she had just stayed at home that night she would have been able to do something. She was weak and exhausted, but she made sure to have just enough to stay awake and function. Her mood swings were just a temporary side-effect, along with her lethargy.

“I don’t want anything,” ‘except for my old life back’, she thought the last part to herself knowing that there was nothing he could do to give that to her. “I don’t want a personal maid or to go to college.” She stated sternly, wondering if it was a mistake to even have come in the beginning. Mathias had taken manners into his own hands; it made her feel like she was merely a child. She hated it even more because it was something her parents would do; it reminded her a little bit of them. Leaning back in the armchair she felt yet another headache coming, what was she supposed to do? She didn't have anywhere to go, or money for that case. Her parents had left her nothing in the bank, the only thing she had from them was that letter and the necklace she took off her mother’s corpse. Something that she now wore around her neck with pride.

Mathias kept quiet as Evon ranted about the things he had arranged for her. Once again, a perfect show of how young she still was. She was freely given an opportunity to get the best education possible, yet rejected it because she had gone to a single college before this. Then she also rejected the maid he had arranged for her thinking it was because he thought she was a child. Well, she was, but the maid wasn't for that. He slowly sipped from his wine as he listened and looked at her, figuring it was better to first let her finish than interrupt her. Then once she was done he put his glass down and looked her directly in the eyes, his expression mostly stern, though slightly understanding.

"Treating you like a child? And what, may I ask, are you then? You're not even one century old yet. Or did you think following human aging would do you any good in the world of vampires? Evon, you are still a child." He sat back a little, his expression softening just a little again. This wasn't how he had wanted to start with her at all, but maybe it was inevitable. Her parents had been murdered only a week ago after all. "However, that is not why I've enrolled you into college, or assigned you a personal maid. College is mandatory, as you should be aware of. Yes you have shortly gone to one already, but that won't be enough now that you live here. I get that it will take time to get used to, but this is no longer the life you used to live. Even if you do not wish for it, much more will be expected from you in the future since I took you under my wing. I bet that a hundred years from now, you'll be thankful for what I'm doing. Furthermore a personal servant is normal, even expected in these circles. I have one too, do you think I think of myself as a child then too? Do you think I can't take care of myself?"

The man sighed, deciding that if this conversation continued things would only get worse. So instead he decided to part ways with Evon for the time being. He pushed a small button on a key chain, prompting his butler to come as soon as possible. At the same time he stood from his seat, taking his almost empty wine glass with him. "You're going to Dominic college, and you have a maid now wether you like it or not." The door opened, a man looking at least 10 years older than Mathias appearing in the opening. "You called, sir?" The man asked, at which Mathias motioned to Evon. "Please escort her to her room so she can get settled in." He spoke, then walked past him out of the room. The butler stepped inside and gave a small bow before speaking. "I am Martin, miss Lyren. Sir McLaren's personal butler. Could you please follow me? Your maid is waiting in your room."

It was called a room, yes. But it was more like a whole apartment. The bedroom was large enough to be a living room. It didn't have just a bed, but also a table with chairs, a desk, a vanity and a couch with TV in it. There were two doors in the room as well. One led to a walk-in closet, another to a small en-suite bathroom with a shower, sink, toilet and some cabinets. This wasn't so that Evon could just spend her time living in there though. It was just so that all the basic comforts would be nearby, should the need arise. There was a full bathing room with large bath and mini cinema too, elsewhere in the mansion. Not to mention a decently sized library.

Evon flinched at his tone, she understood where he was coming from with his words, but none of it made her feel any better. Glancing down she avoided his gaze, she was tired and she didn’t want to handle any of this. Her lips parted ready to give him a snappy comment when topic came to having a personal servant, of course he probably couldn’t take care of himself if he needed a servant , but she pressed her lips together firmly reminding herself how rude it would have sounded if she spoken of that.

She waited for him to continue, expecting him to bring up even more things she didn’t want to deal with, but instead he stood up. “Wait, you can just leave like that,” she called out only for her voice to go unheard. Turning her attention to the butler she presumed that it was his ‘personal’ servant, but she couldn’t be sure. She had already lost count of how many servants there were, her mind just wasn’t here today. She nodded to his words and followed him quietly; her expression was easily readable to anyone that she was upset. Once she was at her room, the butler opened the doors for her and bowed before taking his leave, but Evon was too caught up with the sight to even notice him leaving.

“This is a room?” she quietly asked herself not daring to even enter. A maid who was standing near her bed came over and bowed politely, “Welcome miss Lyren, my name is Linda. I’m your personal maid and anything you need you may ask of me. Why don’t I show you around?” she asked, the corners of her lips curved upwards as she smiled at Evon. She was amused by how shocked she seemed by her own room, presuming that she was not used to having anything as extravagant like this. Evon slowly stepped into her room, her eyes darting from one corner to the other as she tried to take in all of it. Her bed wasn’t even a normal bed; it was large and much too grand for her tastes. The maid guided her over to the walk in closet, switching the light on as she went in first.

“This is your closet, there are some clothes here and this space here is for your belongings,” she explained as she Evon stepped in staring at the clothes already inside. Dress after dress was found neatly hung as she touched the expensive material, “wow,” she whispered softly. Surely they had to be expensive but it was odd that they were even here. The maid allowed a brief moment for Evon to soak up everything inside before she guided her out to her bathroom. Once again the same amazement was found gleaming in Evon’s eyes as she touched the marble of her bathroom. “This is really… this is just too much,” she whispered softly as she picked up a bottle of expensive shampoo, instead of the usual plastic the container was made of pure glass.

“How could I ever get used to this,” her voice filled with sadness as she recalled Mathias’s words. This was most definitely no longer the life she had before; everything here just seemed like a dream. One that she was willing to wake up from. Linda remained silent for a while before reminding her that if there was anything Evon needed that she should just press a button on the wall. She figured that the young vampire needed some alone time. Evon spent the next few hours unpacking and freshening up, she smelled of vanilla and strands of raven locks stuck to her face and neck whilst steam clung to the mirrors. Pressing the button she waited for Linda, which apparently didn’t take long.

“Yes miss Lyren?” she greeted as Evon got off the bed. “Could you show me around?” Evon asked softly as water droplets fell to the floor. Linda nodded, “May I suggest we dry your hair first before we do?” she asked as Evon blinked. She usually never left her hair wet once she was done with a shower, but she found herself with damp hair quite often. Nodding to her she sat down at the elegant dresser, allowing Linda to dry her hair just this once. Under normal circumstances she would have rejected it. “Do you.. know anything about Mathias?” she asked as she faced the mirror. The vampire seemed awfully mysterious so it was no surprise that she was curious about him

Linda's hands were gentle, yet at the same time very precise and strong. She made sure to not inconvenience Evon at all as she slowly dried her hair. There was an advantage to letting someone else dry your hair, as they had a far better view of everything and could reach the back far better. As they sat/stood there Evon decided to inquire about Mathias. Something that was difficult to answer for the young maid. "Actually...I'm afraid I don't have much information about the master. I was only hired a few days ago, taking those few days to get accustomed to the mansion as much as possible. But I do know that he is very old. Over a thousand years, I believe. Everyone of course knows he's the leader of the local coven. Though unlike many other leaders, he's rather...kind I guess you could call it. Vampires in the area aren't required to be members, though as everyone they do taxes. And, though these are only rumors, I've heard that Master Mathias' coven is more a group of friends that likes to stay out of politics and other vampires' affairs as much as possible. Once, I've heard, a noble such as himself was denied access to his territory simply because Master Mathias didn't want to deal with the other noble." Linda smiled a little bit, thinking it a bit funny, if the stories were true. It was almost unheard of that a vampire leader so blatantly went against the other nobility.

In the mean time Mathias had found his way to the music room. It housed quite a few different instruments together with the needed equipment for each of them. He picked up an instrument that one might find very uncharacteristic of a man like him. But he had no problems with modern things. He just liked to mix them up with older things from his past. The instrument was a electric guitar. He was still learning how to play it, though he had the basics down by now. And playing any kind of instrument usually helped him get his thoughts straight or calm down. Something he could definitely use at the moment. He felt that at least the next couple of days, maybe even weeks, would be quite troublesome with his new resident. As long as a certain someone didn't cause trouble or try to interfere with him during that time he figured things would work out though.

Evon felt her head bob from side to side as Linda dried her hair, she was surprised at how gentle she was. She must have been handpicked personally just for Evon, and probably quite expensive. She listened silently, still unable to get much of his personality by her stories. She figured she would have to ask Martin, or hang around Mathias himself which she was not going to do. She didn’t like his presence, perhaps she found it a little eerie with the way he stared at her. One thing she presumed was that he was probably wise if he was that old, she was smart to have kept her mouth shut her parents wouldn't have liked it if she went around dissing those older than her.

Evon got off the stool to feel that her hair was pretty much dry once Linda was done with her hair. She took notice of how extremely soft it was and how smelled like flowers. Stretching her arms out she waited for Linda as she had gone to return the towel she got to dry her hair with. Linda was quite young compared to the other maids Evon had seen, but she was gentle and warm. Gently playing with the pendant around her neck, Evon followed Linda out. Linda had explained what the mansion held. A large garden in the back, a library (that Evon mentally noted to check out on her own during her free time), quite a few rooms, two kitchens, even a large ballroom for when parties were held.

Soon coming across the ballroom first, Evon gasped with surprise at the mere size of it. It had a French theme going on with large dark curtains covering the elegant windows behind. The marble floor decorated to match the walls, and two large chandeliers hung from the top. Pillars were found on the side and two sets of stairs, making it look all so grand. Marble statues of naked woman were found around the large room and the crystals on the chandeliers gleamed and glittered in the light that Linda had turned on. Staring at the ceiling she took notice of the angels painted around, it looked old but she presumed it was what kept it looking so elegant that she made her way down the steps. Linda simply smiled as she watched the young maiden walk across the marble floor, wondering if she would ever see Evon in that same spot during an event but she would be all dolled up. Evon couldn't help but imagine the ballroom with people. People dancing with grace, whilst some watched and gossiped from the side. The smell of delicious food roaming the air as some ate. She could feel the life pulsating through her veins of it all by just being in that room and it was only until she heard Linda call out to her that she awoke from her imagination.

“There’s plenty more,” she teased lightly as Evon blushed with embarrassment before climbing the stairs and joining Linda’s side. “So where were you previously before you came to work here?” Evon asked as they walked through the hallways. It wasn't long until Evon could hear the sounds of a electric guitar echoing within the halls.

Mathias started off with his usual warm-up practices. Which involved a lot of finger for work a minute or two. However then he could finally start to play. The man liked to start off slowly, with one of his favorite guitar solo's. To him it was quite emotional, and aptly named 'Love story'. Apparently it was a theme song of some kind, but that didn't matter to him. He turned the volume up quite high, not being used to having other residents in his mansion yet. And his servants of course never complained about being able to hear him. They got paid for not complaining after all. So the sounds of his guitar echoed through the hallway, even while he had the door closed.

As the two girls walked, Evon decided to ask another question. This time a more personal one. But of course Linda didn't mind answering. "Actually, I only finished my education ten years ago. I've been doing odd jobs at parties and working in restaurants during that time. Mostly for vampires of course, though also a few evening jobs where I would serve humans. It was quite an odd experience, since humans are always rushing through everything. Maybe it's because their lives are so much shorter." The girl blinked, then smiled slightly nervously. "Ah, sorry miss Lyren, I'm rambling aren't I." She gave a soft chuckle, then turned her head to the door that the electric guitar sounds had come from before. They had stopped all of a sudden.

Mathias had finished his first song. And now he decided to play something a bit more up-beat, with more energy in it. So he first made some preparations. For this one he wanted to have the full song on the background. So he first turned on the music, setting it to a decent volume before getting his guitar ready again. This one was called "Higher Ground." He had actually heard it not too long ago on a classic rock radio channel. So he figured this was still a relatively new song. As soon as he started playing he already started to feel better. Playing like this could take his worries away in an instant, even if it only lasted for as long as he kept on playing. Even when he saw Linda and Evon appearing at the door he didn't stop playing. Not until the song was finished at least. Then he finally put the guitar to the side for the moment and looked at them again. "Hello again miss Lyren. Enjoying a tour of the mansion?" He asked, not sure what else to say at a time like that.

Thanks to Genkai for my sig.

Optimist: The glass is half full.
Pessimist: The glass is half empty.
Realist: Depends. If it was first completely full, it's now half empty. If it was completely empty and filled half way, it's half full.
