"I don't know, why don't you try golf or something?" The blond spoke into the phone in an annoyed tone, before blowing out a stream of smoke, one red-tipped nail flicking the stick in her hand. "Hold on," She muttered into the device, before looking at the barista at the coffee stand she stood at. "No, sweetie, I said vanilla not mocha," She muttered, hand motioning to the other squirt bottle. "Yea, good job." She chided.
"Golf is terrible." The grouchy voice on the other end of the line interrupted, tired of being held off. When no response came quick enough, the girl still watching the barista too closely, the man shouted. "Esmeralda!"
"Then, I dunno, Joshua. What's what sport with the pucks and the hotch-scotch board called?" She asked, taking another drag off her cigarette, before handing the girl behind the bar a five and taking the coffee.
"I have no idea what you are talking about." The man replied.
"You know, the thing where you push a puck on the ground with a stick, but its not hockey. There's like markings and stuff," She muttered vaguely as she walked to her bike.
"... shuffleboard?"
"Yes! That! Play shuffleboard!" She spoke.
"I'm forty-two, not seventy-five!" Joshua yelled indignantly.
"Well, I'm just trying to help you ease your boredom." The girl muttered, dropping her cigarette. "I don't know what to tell you. You have a shit leg and can't hunt anymore. Wanna shoot something? Get Black Ops." For five years now, she had listened to the man bitch about being bored. She had lost count of the amount of times she had told the man to get a hobby. "Or write a goddamn book, or get a girlfriend, or something. You whine like a child." The man simply huffed, not bothering to respond. "So, what's the word, you figure out that internet machine and got me a coordinate yet?" She asked as she chugged down the vanilla chia something or rather froufrou coffee she had become addicted to.
"Yea, it's called Club Crypt." He spoke, ignoring her comment about the 'internet machine.' "I'll text you the address."
"Oooo, I'm working with some creative ones this time." She mocked. "This should be easy." She muttered, tightening the straps on her saddlebags. "Alright, well, I'm going to hit the road. Sun will be setting in not too long and I got some distance to cover." The coffee was already done, drained within moments, and tossed into a nearby bin.
"Be careful." Joshua spoke into the phone. "Call me when you're done."
"I always do," Full lips pulled back into a slight smile. "I love you, Joshy-boo-boo." She cooed.
"Love you, too, Essie." The girl's hand moved to click the phone off, and slip it into the holster on her belt. Flipping the long blond braid over her shoulder, a helmet was soon smacked over her head. Running her fingerless-gloved hands over the zipper, she closed the leather jacket around her frame, the black fabric molding to her like a second skin.
Straddling the bike, she fired the beast up and listened to him growl. She pulled into the street, metallic monster raging below her, and sped off into the distance to hunt down some suckers.
It was dark when she arrived at the club. She had stopped a while back and changed into something more 'club appropriate.' Unfortunately, the skanky clothes that women wore to clubs didn't offer much hiding. So, her dearly beloved Xavier was left on the Harley, while retractable stakes and various throwing knives were tucked into her boots, skirt and bra, with a glock hidden in the coffin purse she clasped in her lace-covered hand. How she envied male hunters. Dudes could wear anything to clubs. Girls, no, they had to pull the stops or call attention to themselves. Of course, it had taught her to kick all kinds of ass in stilettos.
Stepping into the cheesy club, with awful music pumping, smoke machines and red lights giving it a cheesy feel, the girl took in her surroundings. A few security guys, perhaps two of which were actually humans. Dumbass humans writhing in the awful beats, a handful with vampires hoping to get lucky. A red door in the back opened, permitting some teenage kids who had watched Interview with a Vampire a few too many times. Finger toying with a blond curl, she made her way over to the door, and stepped inside.
Taking a seat on a plush red chair, her fingers moved to toy with her necklace as she looked around, taking in her surroundings. As those who appeared in-charge readied to start their ceremony or club, whatever you wanted to call it, another small group came in. A few more scantily clad girls, and one guy who didn't quite look like he belonged there. There was something familiar about his features, but she didn't have long to study it before the lights flicked off, and the ceremony began.
