    Aged Badly or Still Awesome

There's a lot of old video games we remember playing, and as the years go by we get better games with better systems. yet every now and again we look back and wanna remember ow much fun we had back then. So we pull out our old consoles or we download the games of of some retro game service to once again experience it.

And here's where the divide occurs.

Has the game aged so badly, the graphics interfere too damn much or the controls seem too damn clunky to even play?

Or is the game still awesome and fun to the point you'd even hold it up against games of today!

For the aged, I would have to say Elder Scrolls III:Morrowind. It was fun back in the day and I really had a lot of fun playing it at first, but going back to play it again recently left me feeling it was way too clunky and not having ANYONE speak without voices made all the text boxes really jarring. Plus it sucked that my Argonian could never wear shoes and always had that stupid walk >.<

For the still awesome, I would definitely have to say Final Fantasy 3 for the SNES. This game is what solidified me as a hardcore fan of FF and why it pisses me off to no end just how far the franchise has gotten. Even the rerelease on the GBA, while goodand the bonus dungeon is a good dungeon, they HAD to fix the translation when I honestly thought the original did an amazing job and was far better written to be honest! It's games like this that i make sure i keep my SNES in good condition.

What about you guys? Can you come up with games that you can instantly name as being still good or is too far back in the past to enjoy anymore?

For still awesome, she'd say the Kingdom Hearts games(KH1 and 2). Not as old as some in the grand scheme of things but whatever, having replayed them not too long ago they were still fantastic games and with the cartoonish graphics still don't look half bad.

For aged, Xenosaga. Loved those games to death, and still do even just for the story but the slow turn based combat of the first is something that she found boring her to tears upon sitting down to replay them. That however does get better in episode 2 and 3.

Another for aged, .hack//IMOQ. Am a really huge .hack// fan and well, just like the previously mentioned still love those games for the story and characters but the gameplay is just very dull now and even repetitive. And good god fuck having to farm virus cores, anyone whos played them would know what hell that is

And to end on a positive, Fire Emblem: The sacred stones is one thats aged pretty well. Solid gameplay and well, not as annoying as the one that came before it. heh

Crash Bandicoot, anyone? Champions of Norrath? Mario Cart 64/Mario Party are still some of the best games to pull out when you have friends over, hands down.

Maybe I've been wrong all these years, and it's taken your inspiring speech to make me see it. You've really changed me. It's beautiful. I think we've gotta hug

Champions of Norrath was a rad game.

I'm playing through Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, and the fact that it remains mostly untouched as far as the sprites, textures and animations go, I'd say that's pretty good testament to it's longevity. Really though, that game was all about the story, it drew you in by being so engaging and giving you a rush as you turned every stone and uncovered every clue.

Good ones to go back to:
Ogre Battle (SNES or PS) (my opinion, one of the best RPGs ever)
    Utopia (SNES)
    WrestleMania 2000 (64)
    Norrath, Champions and Return (PS2)

Bad ones I can't go back to:
    Shadowrun (genesis)
Command and Conquer (PC, first 3 or 4)
Any Sim City (I just can't get back into it...)
    Diablo 2 (PC)
Sadly, Resident Evil 1 (PS). I LOOOOVED the fucking game, SOOOO much, and can NOT go back to it...

I still love popping in Halo Combat evolved. Gives me a good chuckle to see how OP the Pistol was back then. Mariocart for the nintendo 64 is still good to, especially when you die and you turn into a bomb (hehe)

The thing about old games is that they are fun to play once in awhile, but you aren't going to be staying up all night playing it like some of those people in CoD

The older Dragon Ball Z games that came out on the PS2 i still have a blast on.

Pokemon FireRed/Red always give me something to do.

Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, Metal Gear Games, the list goes on for me.

Omg Harvest Moon. Does there happen to be a Wii version of it that is good?

I have Animal Crossing on my DS. If you have a kimono you should give it to me. My friend gave me the geisha wig, but no clothing to go with it. :C
The only Pokemon I've owned is SS, on the DS. I've played red/yellow before though on an emulator xD
