Orre University (Pokemon Universe Academy setting)

    OOC

This started out as a simple idea, a generic "College/University/Boarding School" RP but in the Pokemon Universe. It's grown a good bit since then I'd say. At this point, the school setting is NOT the primary focus.

Anyway, far off in one of the more lush parts of Orre, the least populated of the Pokemon regions. Is one of the few general Schools in the Pokemon World focused on things OTHER than the eponymous creatures. This being Pokemon, they are still vitally important to just about everything of course, but this school doesn't really teach about them outside of biology. Of course, there are a ton of student lead courses on battling and such, why wouldn't there be?

The school is fairly wealthy. It is the preferred school for descendants of professors and gym leaders, that sort of thing. Also, this being Orre, there isn't much in the way of wildlife. The school has actually built two major natural preserves for the Pokemon and for the students to relax, train, etc. in. One is a lush forest resembling the amazon, with a river flowing through the middle of it. The other is a mountain range with a dense cave network. Both preserves are home to pokemon from all regions, and if you can't find one you want there. Simply apply for a trip abroad to visit the other regions.

Sounds idyllic doesn't it? of course not! this is Orre, remember what gang infests Orre? Cipher, and the Shadow Pokemon. Lately, Shadow Pokemon have been showing up in the hands of certain students. Rumors abound of a certain "supplier" who can get you one powerful shadow pokemon, for an undisclosed price, what else?
    but hey, Rumors right!

Yep, Shadow Pokemon Roleplay in a school/academy setting. what could be better! (I know, not the most original ever. but sometimes being original is a bit of a pain)

You already know that I'm in, but here I am, to make it official.
    I must not fear.
    Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
    I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing...

    Only I will remain.

Hmm, interested, i have an idea that each trainer has one pokemon that matches their personality. If you don't like that idea then don't use it, i'm interested anyway.

Dunno if I've said it yet or not... but,
Love the Morpheus Avatar. Neil Gaiman is a genius and Sandman is one of my favorite works from him (just behind Good Omens)

I already have my First Two pokemon planned for my character (Grovyle and an Aron) to some extent. Everyone's pokemon choices are influenced by their pokemon.
oh yeah, we are starting out on the lower end of the power scale. Because coming in with a Garchomp, Metagross, Fully evolved starter, and legendary is just unfair

Well, thank you, Draconilian, I love them as well. Gaiman is one the very best writers, period.

As for the Pokemon reflecting the character, I had a similar thought myself. My character's signature Pokemon are going to be the original Dragon line (Dratini to Dragonite), and the character himself is similar in personality to them.

Dratini is a Shadow you gotta get first, you can have that happen early if you want of course =P
also, what personality would you consider the original Dragon types? they are all defensive mostly and quite benign so... Nice Guy?

They're actually Attack based (Physical attack), with both specials not far behind, but I've actually always thought of them as wise and friendly. Maybe it's just the design, but Dragonair is incredibly graceful, almost angelic (for a dragon), and Dragonite is absolutely the most friendly-looking dragon in the series... Despite the potential to be incredibly powerful.

well, I mean they have high attack based stats, but their movepools lend towards more defensive tactics
at least compared to later Dragon types like Salamence, Garchomp, etc.

Well, in the first two generations, at least, I remember them as heavy hitters. Dratini is probably more defensive move-wise, but once it evolves, Dragonair can dole out some serious Dragon punishment, as well as being able to learn all of the elemental beam attacks AND Surf. And then, Dragonite has not only the new capacity for the best Flying moves and Dragon Claw, but it has Outrage, one of the most powerful Dragon attacks in any of the games.
