    I love doing this...

I'm going back and forth with my ex, trying to tell him all the money I save by making what I eat at home instead of going out.

And yet, he says that he is saving time

time = money. Sounds like a draw to me.

Not all time is equal, Brand.

If you make your own food when you have more of it, then you can save it for when you have less, and still save money.

Plus if you do a calculation of how much time you save versus how much time it takes to make that money, you can find out definitively which is superior.

I feel like we're all being super productive right now!

Well you could try to fuck around with taxes and try to get tax benefits, but that also has a way of you ending up in a little bit of trouble.

    Indeed.

Example: A can of refried beans store brand is $0.69. A pound of dry pinto beans from the produce section is $0.69. For the same price of a can of store bought beans, I can make more and tastier (with my own selection of spices and herbs) refried beans, although it takes about 8 hours to cook them in my crock pot, but overall, it is so worth it.

Let's assume the distance from my house to the nearest grocery store is represented by Arc Length S. Now the X axis from my house to said store is roughly 5.6 miles, add turns in the road and traffic (also assume i travel as 25 mph) i would arrive at the store in ~ 10.7 minutes, with an additional 10 minutes for traffic time and the time it takes to find my keys. Then we need to look at the distance from the parking lot to the actual doors of the store itself. Given it's a weekday night, we can assume i am able to park up to 5 spaces away from the door. Now we assume that the total distance from my parking space is anywhere from 70 to 30 feet. I am ~ 5'9 feet tall, the Lengeth from toe to toe at my walking stride is nearly 3 feet. However, given that the wallmart employees feed stray cats, my stride is increased from 3 feet to roughly 6 feet, because i will be running. Now, my 40 yard dash can be completed in 3.9 seconds.

So we convert the minimum of 30 feet into yards, then divide by the Yard/sec. Now we have some 52 yards (at minumum distance) which can be transversed in around 14 seconds. Putting our total time from X to the center of the circle at 20 minutes 57 seconds. Now we add an additional 20 minutes for the actual time it takes to purchase the groceries, and the time it takes to travel back home. So we multiply 20 57/60 by 2, and add an additional 20. This places us at 61.9 minutes. Now we assume the meal i have selected to prepare can be made in roughly ~10 minues, placing total time at 71.9 minutes. However, on my way to the table i stub my toe, so we had another 2 minutes of profanity. Total time is 73.9 minutes, and my total grocery bill is say 30$. Then we add how much money i can earn in 73.9 minutes, represented as T. So 9.75 times (73.9 minutes = 1.23 Hours) and we get 12$.

So total spent is 42$ for preparing my own meal, but if we also consider how many days we can carry over the meal surplus we can assume Total Money Spent - Net Time Carried Over = Exact Expendeture. But a freak storm hits and knocks the power to my fridge out, so Exact Expendeture = 42$ + The Cost of Items in my Fridge = ~ 80$.

Or i could order Pizza for ~12 dollars and have it in 30 minutes or less.

Brand, with $42, I can make a feast of chicken, beef and chese enchiladas, beans, mexican rice, salsa, chips, and guacamole. And among 2 1/2 people (my daughter being the half because she is only two and doesn't eat as much as Mike and I), that will last for DAYS if not a week. Granted, I will be cooking all day, but it's a labor of love and it's a lot healthier than ordering something for delivery or going to a mexican food restaurant and ordering what they consider to be $42 of food (when in reality it's only $10).

Some people should die, that's just unconscious knowledge
