Sword Art Online Interest Check

Just finished watching the anime, and I have to admit I am enamored by the entire concept. I had a story that I was originally going to use for fanfiction material, but then I thought, "Why not make it an RP?". Sooo here I am, seeing if it'll garner any interest.

For those that don't know, Sword Art Online is a series of Light Novels based around the experiences of a boy being trapped in the titular game. This game is anything but, however, because if you die here, you die in real life. You see, at that point in time gaming technology was advanced to the point that you could fully immerse yourself into a game with the help of a NerveGear, which is pretty much a headset. This way you control the character with your own body movements, kinda like you ARE your character. When your character 'dies' in-game, the headset sends a microwave signal that pretty much fries your brain. Should someone from the real world try to pull it off, the same thing happened sadly.

The only way to get out was to reach the 100th level and beat the game.

This RP in particular would take place in a modified version of the SAO MMORPG, with classes and skills and weapons, although I'd reveal that much in the OOC should this garner enough interest. I suppose it would be considered AU or maybe some time after or something, I'm not entirely sure.

But yeah, anyone interested?

Personally I didn't think SAO was all that great, Far inferior to Dothack! xD
But the concept was interesting. Sort of bummed about the world not having magic, but I guess I'll live~

I can't 'commit' until I've seen the other characters, since RP's like this usually get attention from what I consider the unsavory kind. (You know, the; "I Can Kill the Final Boss ten times over by myself without taking a single hit" type of players)

I'd also strongly prefer an AU which borrows pretty much all concepts from SAO, but remains a separate game to avoid fanboys and girls complaining "But in the anime~" sort of thing.

I'd be interested! Just a question; will this game be focused mechanic and numeric fights (those that requires numbers and stats and ratios and such) or will it be more based in story and is more loose with the fighting bits?

The idea I had was an AU, with Sword Arts including magic. xD But I do see what you mean with the other stuff you said, so read what I'm gonna say below in response to fighting and the like.

It'll be more character development/story driven more then fighting, but that doesn't mean fighting isn't going to get an emphasis. As for the fights themselves, it's going to be a bit more mundane, as we will have skills but they aren't at our disposal as easily as other places.

It's pretty straightforward. Most everyone also starts at the same level (with a few exceptions), but if anything I'd be more then happy to help out.

Alright, I've gotten good feedback, I will start on the OOC and it will be up by this time tomorrow (possibly sooner).
