    Cool Krerasia (OOC)

    All right, I think we are ready to get rolling. I believe in as much freedom as possible, which is why I didn't write a huge novel describing everything. This rpg will be about all of us, and not JUST the GM. I have included a Character Sheet at the bottom of this page, along with a set of simple rules. I would like people to post at least once a week, although more is preferable. Please read through and let me know what character(s) you would like to play! Once I know this will be a successful rp, I will get with the first IC posts

    Number of Players: 3-10

    Background

    Once, many millennia ago, there was a chaotic and uncertain world called Krerasia. There were hundreds of little villages, and thousands of lost people. They lived in this manner for many hundreds of years until, one day, a strange and magical woman changed everything. Her name was Kyuktus, and she called herself a Bringer of Peace. Many flocked to her, and wanted to fulfill her vision of a world without war. But there were others who disagreed. A great and ugly war was waged, one that lasted for decades. Two major sides were taken, thus creating the Kingdoms of Thesah and Rone. Their hatred of each other grew and grew until Kyuktus, with her powerful magics, created Ynelanei. The love and positive power of this new energy broke apart the battling Kingdoms, and they made a grudging peace with each other.

    A pact, then, was made. It stated no Kingdom would ever succumb to the woes and the violence of war again. That pact, while at times shaken, has always been strong, barely wavering. Even through the creation of the other three Kingdoms, not a single cry for battle called for war.

    Until now.

    Main Plot

    The death of Aine, Rone's Queen, has turned Rone and Thasah against each other. Alaster, the Prince of Rone, believes fully that spies of Thasah are to blame for his mother's death. He is doing everything in his power to push his father (The King of course) to invade and crush what he perceives as the enemy.

    Fearful of war, and wanting desperately to prevent it, the Queen of Thasah constructs a plan. She sends a messenger to Rone with a plea for peace... along with a negotiation to unite their Kingdoms to prevent future 'misunderstandings'. The letter asks for a marriage between the Prince of Thasah and the Princess of Rone. Wrought with grief, the King allows his Eldest, the Princess of Rone, to make the decision. She attempts to include her brother in the choice, but his hatred for Thasah forces her to choose alone. In the end, she accepts the terms, even knowing that it will put a rift between herself and the one man who knows her better than herself: The warrior Prince of Rone.

    The Five Kingdoms

    Thasah
    Known as the Kingdom of Power, Thasah is the most advanced of the five Kingdoms. It has running water, a strong political system, and a school. While most of Thasah's citizens believe in the Goddess Kyuktus, there is a strong freedom of choice among the people. Perhaps the most unique aspect of this Kingdom is that it is run by a single Queen.

    Rone
    Known as the Kingdom of War, Rone is feared by all. While not as ‘civilized’ as Thasah, their horses and their weapons are the best in all of Krerasia. They have a powerful military system, one that has been crafted and pushed to the brink of perfection. War is their way of life, and has been since the creation of the Ynelanei. They believe in the strength of each other, and bow down to no God. They are the only Kingdom that does not revere Kyuktus.

    Joca
    Known as the Kingdom of Balance, Joca are loved by the other four Kingdoms. They are neither strong willed or timid, but something inbetween. Their culture demands that one must treat all others with the greatest amounts of respect... regardless of how those others are treating them. Joca is the largest of the Kingdoms in land mass, and is the trade center of Krerasia.

    NOTE: The two Kingdoms mentioned below are meant to be plot drivers in the rp. The 'people' inhabiting said Kingdoms are not meant to be used as player characters. :)

    Ynelanei
    Known as the Kingdom of Light, Ynelanei are hardly human at all. Wisps of light and energy, they are more like clouds in the sky. Incorporeal, they are gentle souls all. The majority of their kind are healers, able to remove negativity with their mere presence alone. They welcome all into their Kingdom, and will often travel to other areas in order to heal the wounded and the sick.

    Nahda
    Known as the Kingdom of Night, Nahda are both feared and misunderstood. So little is known about them that all kinds of stories and rumors about them abound all over the world. In truth, the ones who dwell in Nahda are Ynelanei's outcasts. With their light lost, they are cast out and banished from their Kingdom, and forced to live the rest if their lives in a dark and gloomy prison. Where once they were able to heal and give positive energy, they can now re-open wounds and emit negative energy.

    My Characters:

    Name: Gabriel Djivan

    Status/Job: Commander of Thasah

    Sex: Male

    Description: At 6'6”, there aren't many people Gabriel looks up to. He carries himself with a powerful confidence, each stride a strong reminder of who he is. Built like a bull, it is said that he is as strong as one, too. His body, even his face, are marred by scars. Most are faded, but some are thick and bold, painful reminders of his past. Storm grey eyes are one of his greatest weapons, fierce and without mercy. They hide much, showing only what he wants others to know. Thick shadow, almost a beard, suits him well, adding to his arsenal of intimidation.

    Personality: A wry sense of humor always has the tendency to throw people off, especially given his generally brusk attitude. He has never been afraid to say exactly what is on his mind, regardless of whether it is the Queen or a foreigner. His temper is well known throughout all of Thasah. It burns white hot, but doesn't usually last for long. When it comes to matters of the past, he is stubbornly unwilling to tell it... for to relive those terrors is one of his greatest fears. Underneath his blatant confidence and non nonsense manner is an anxious and frightened man... one that he hides remarkably well.

    History: It is rare for anyone in Thasah to know where Gabriel came from. But he was born in a small home, one that could barely feed itself before he came along. His mother was a soft, timid thing, and his father was an angry blacksmith who drank far too much. Since he was but a boy, he took numerous beatings and abuse from his father while his mother looked one, too frightened to intervene. For Gabriel, it was his mother's actions that hurt him more than his father's.

    By the age of 13, Gabriel's skin was already littered with scars. He learned how to withdraw his mind, so as to keep at least some part of himself alive. For the rest of him felt dead. He was taught how to survive, rather than how to get a job. He was educated on the history of Krerasia, rather than just about Thasah and Rone, learning of Joca, Ynelanei, and Nahda. Fascinated by these previously unknown places, Gabriel left home at 16. By that time he had been raped and tortured by his own father more times than he could bother to count. It made him hard, abrupt. It made him cold. The only thing that truly saved his soul was his visit to Joca. There, he met a woman by the name of Karna. She never learned of what had happened to him, but watched over him in the night as he thrashed and suffered excruciating nightmares. The closer they became, the less pain he felt for leaving his mother behind with his monster of a father.

    At 19, he had his first child with Karna. The joy didn't last for long, the child dead by the time it entered the world. Gabriel became sick with sorrow, but tried to hold himself up for the sake of Karna. She became angry, lashing out at every turn. The day she blamed him for the death of their child, he could take no more of it. He left in a fury. Everything was red. The next day, when he returned to try and make things right, he found Karna dead with two perfect cuts on the inside of each wrist.

    Gabiel's life took on a drastic turn after that. He returned to Thasah, and joined the military. Being a soldier, and focusing on where he could go with it, became his driving force. He became obsessed with it, climbing the ranks with more speed than anyone had seen before. It took only a few years before he became the Commander of Thasah. Rather than celebrate, as those who had grown to love him did, he mourned instead. Now what else was there for him to hide his grief in? What more, really, was there to live for? Barely able to sleep, Gabriel often took long walks through Thasah during the night. He suffered horrific flashbacks and nightmares when he did attempt sleep, and so chose to avoid it. For years it went on that way, his duties the only thing connecting him with life. When Rone's Prince accused Thasah spies of killing the Queen of Rone, it came as something of a surprise. That feeling in itself... the surprise... breathed into him new life. He increased the amount of guards on patrol, and started to revamp the intelligence section of the military. Information was key.

    Then... the agreement between Thasah and Rone was proposed. This put something of a dent in Gabriel's plans, although he took everything in stride. The idea of the two Kingdoms becoming one sent a touch of nerves down his spine, although he said nothing to the Queen. It wasn't that it wasn't his place... for he barely knew it anyway... but rather, he didn't quite know what to think of it. He went outside of the royal circle to discuss the treaty, surrounding himself with military men and women. It was during this time that he met Alexander, and took an interest in him. Always Gabriel tried to look at things from both sides, and not just one. The soldier from Rone was his best chance at gaining knowledge from that side.

    Opinion on the Agreement: Gabriel is very much on the fence with the agreement. He can see how it could bring peace between Thasah and Rone, but he can also see problems... mainly in the public aspect of things.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~
    Name: Alaster Meilyr
    Status/Job: Prince of Rone
    Sex: Male
    Description: Tall and athletic, Alaster stands at an even 6 feet tall. His skin is bronzed by the sun, which is typical for those who live in Rone. His eyes are sharp and unforgiving, their dense hazel color looking more green than brown. Shoulder-length dark blond hair is braided into dreads and braids, some of which sport black and blue beads. His build is powerful, shaped into a machine of death by his stalwart dedication to war and everything that it entails.
    Personality: Strong willed. Or perhaps stubborn. Both of these suit Alaster quite well. He is stoic on the good days, and loud on the bad days. His preference is in avoiding other people, for he looks down upon the majority of them. His country, and its pureness, are all that he cares for... except for one thing: His sister. Even given that, Alaster is well known for carrying out his chosen goals by whatever methods necessary. Even if that means taking lives. Ruthless, cunning, and savage, the Prince of Rone is more of a warlord than a leader.
    History: Since a young age, Alaster has always been a fighter. No matter what his parents tried, he always ended up in some sort of trouble, whether it was stealing food from Joca or taking off with his father's favorite horse. As he grew, he spent more time learning how to fight and learn the strategies of war than learn about how to run a Kingdom. He spent a considerable amount of time with his sister, slowly developing the belief that everyone else was a worthless piece of hide. She was his world, someone he looked up to. She was, and still is, the only person who has ever seen him laugh. The only person who has seen his eyes fill with tears. And the only person who he could possibly trust in a time of, according to him, constant uncertainty.
    At the age of 17, Alaster almost lost his life. He was in the stables, grooming his horse (for he always did it himself) when its hooves landed a mighty blow to his chest. Ribs broke and fractured, and his sternum cracked. Many were fearful of the Prince, and had even grown to hate his aloof manner and cruel tongue. Given that, his sister found him barely breathing, with everyone else looking on... almost wishing he would pass onto the next life. Since that great blow, Alaster's chest has always been weak. His faith in people, too, has been utterly lost.
    When Alaster himself found his mother dead in her chambers, nothing... not even his sister... could console him. He went ballistic, killing several servants in his rage and grief. A hatred for Thasah had always lived in his heart, born from the ancient stories he had been subject to since childhood. He wasted no time in blaming Thasah's spies, going behind his family's back to threaten Thasah with war for what they had done. When no one could come to a conclusion of how the Queen of Rone had died, it only convinced Alaster further of his belief and accusation. More and more, he stayed away from the palace. His relationship with his father grew thinner and thinner. They fought more than they found peace. Alaster was becoming a liability, but the King couldn't find it in his heart to address it. They were all sick with grief.
    Alaster became even more dangerous when the letter from Thasah arrived, asking for both peace and a marriage between his sister and Thasah's Prince. He believed it was a trick to destroy Rone and everything that they were... a plot for revenge. When his sister attempted to include him in the decision, he went mad, accusing her of treason should she go through with it. Since that day, he avoided the palace and his family, living off the land and heightening his skills. He felt lost, completely alone, misunderstood. All he had now, in his eyes, was himself. It was up to him to stop this insane and senseless marriage from happening... for it seemed that no one else would take his side.
    Opinion on the Agreement: It is Alaster's belief that the treaty is a plot to take revenge on Rone and its people for the war, fought so long ago. He is disgusted by the mere thought of it, and will stop at nothing to break the agreement... at whatever necessary cost.
    Name: Tanaila Herme
    Status/Job: Lady-in-waiting to the princess of Rone
    Sex: Female
    Description: Tanaila is a petite girl of 17 and the daughter of the dead queen's younger sister. She has long light brown hair and clear chocolate-colored eyes. Though most nobles her age would be betrothed if not wed, Tanaila's mom her been unable to find her a suitor. The girl had been born a full year after her mother's husband was killed in a hunting accident, and nobody of any status wants to marry a bastard.
    Personality: Tanaila is spunky and somewhat spoiled. Her tutors never put much care into her studies. After all, she would never be in a position of power and didn't have much use for an education. Sometimes she can be manipulative, behaving like an angel to impress visiting dignitaries. But she doesn't take life very seriously; nobody expects her to.
    Opinion on the Agreement: Tanaila doesn't care about war one way or the other. But she does think the princess's role in the whole matter is very exciting, and hopes her cousin will marry the Prince of Thasah so that she can come along.
    Lawful Good, just not at the same time
    I hope my newness won't be an issue.
    Edit
    I'm unimpressed with my character sheet's brevity, but you asked for very little information (i.e., no history). If there's anything else I should add...
    Edit 2
    Added history, changed personality to use less strong words. (For instance, "cynical" is too strong, while "careful" is just right.)
    Added too much history? Maybe...
    Edit 3
    Better character changes.
    Name: Alexandar Dietrich
    Status/Job: Retired Soldier, Practitioner of the Ancient Arts and aid to the Queen of Thasah.
    Sex: Male
    Description: Used to be a soldier of the Rone Kingdom, now retired in the Kingdom of Thasah. He is an ‘old’ man, the grey hair of his beard and his head were clear, the complex features quite visible. But he seemed to be in shape, his eyes burning with the energy of a young man. With multiple scars to his face, he has experience written all over him. He bears the signet of the Rone on his left shoulder, tattooed onto his skin, dark grey hair and light green eyes.
    Personality: Very cautious and down to earth being, knowing the horrid truth of fighting and war. He doesn’t talk about himself too much, but reveals his time as a soldier. He doesn’t mind a light-hearted conversation and a good time in the tavern, quite relaxed at times. He appreciates the company of people who are ready to enjoy life.
    Opinion on the Agreement: ''War is inevitable, but we can postpone it until necessary. This war that is coming can be undone for now, we just need a little time and some reasoning.''
    Thanks for the sheets so far, guys. I have actually decided, afterall, to ask for histories. The game hasn't started yet, so I hope this doesn't ruffle too many feathers. Thank you, redhat, for the suggestion, intentional or not I am new at this stuff, so don't bite me too hard Please feel free to pm me if any of your characters want any sort of history with the Prince of Rone or the Commander of Thasah.
    I think I'll throw my hat in for the Queen of Thasah. I've never played a main character so this should be a nice challenge. I will come up with a character sheet today.
    Sail away where no ball and chain
    Can keep us from the roarin' waves
    Together undivided
    But forever we'll be free
    Sail away aboard our rig
    The moon is full and so are we
    Seven drunken pirates
    We're the seven deadly sins
    But it's the only life we'll know
    Blagards to the bone
    So don't wreck yourself, take an honest grip
    For there's more tales beyond the shore
    Name: Nerys of the House of Gaerwn
    Job/Status: Queen of Thasah
    Age: 36
    Sex: female
    Description: The Queen is tall and fair skinned, with long black hair laced with a few silver strands that would hang to her waist if it were not always styled up into intricate braids and twists. Her face is elegant, her cheekbones graceful and her chin firm and slightly rounded. She moves with practiced grace and has lost none of her beauty. Her eyes are pale grey surrounded by thick black lashes and her mouth is generous and full lipped though she rarely smiles outside her private chambers. She wears fine silk and velvet gowns and adorns herself with rare gems to show off the wealth of her kingdom as well as her own status. Her crown is wrought in white silver, a rare metal (like platinum) mined only in her country and it is topped by three large clear gems, cut to catch the light and shimmer with life.
    Personality: She is stoic and quiet, preferring to listen first before speaking and when she does she speaks slowly and deliberately. She is slow to anger but once roused can be quite sharp. She listens to her advisors, a group of wise men and women selected by master tradesmen, priests and scholars to represent the people, but has her own mind. She seeks always to preserve her wealthy, cultured nation and preserve the ways of Goddess Kyuktus and her gift of peace. While the Queen is rational, cool and calm in the face of the politicians she has her flaws. She tends to look down on other kingdoms, in particular Rone, she sees them as little more than barbarians and the kingdom of Joca she views with respect but also a bit of jealousy at their trade advantage. She is very prideful and can be stubborn at times but usually will relent when she sees that her stance is not the right one.
    History: Born into a royal family, Nerys was married very young at age 16 to prince of Joca, uniting their kingdoms in further peace and mutual advancement. She bore her son at age 17, and birthed three more children in her lifetime but none survived past early childhood. When her mother, Queen Eirwyn, died, she left the throne to her and Nerys became queen at the tender age of 25. Her husband passed away a few years ago of natural causes on a visit to his home kingdom, where he fell from a horse and cracked his skull.
    Her family crest is a sable field with three five-point silver stars and Thasah’s emblem is similar except with the stars surrounding a hollow silver circle with large seven pointed star in the center and is flown on standards all over the kingdom. The seven pointed star represents their kingdom, each point symbolizing: scholars, tradesmen, priests, miners, warriors, sailors, and artisans. The circle represents eternity, as the hopes that their kingdom will last and flourish as the cultural and technologically advanced society that it is. The three smaller, five point stars are from the House of Gaerwyn and trace back to that family’s three major lines all of which contributed to the war with Rone before the Goddess came. Her particular line were known as holders of the White Fort, a large seaside port and fortified castle that held off the worst attacks Rone threw at it in an attempt to capture the harbor.
    She is now facing a growing crisis, a threatening cloud of war is hanging on the horizon because of accusations from Rone that she had a spy kill their queen. It is ridiculous and Nerys views it as an excuse for the bellicose nation to attack hers, reopening an old wound that has lay healed for hundreds of years. Nerys plans on avoiding this by making a peace and connecting their kingdoms as they have never been before, through marriage of their royal lines.
    Opinion: Though she dislikes having to use her son as a pawn, she sees this as the most practical choice. To unite their kingdoms as allies through blood, for the children of the royal union will be of both nations and this will bind them.
    Hey idlehands, since my character is a Master Knight of Thasah, and yours is the Queen, it would make sense that they know each other.
