    Land of Margaeth (ic)

Birds chirped, squirrels played through the trees. A deer wandered out of the forest to sniff at a berry bush, it leaned in to take a bite when there was a flash. The sky lit up like an atomic bomb had been dropped causing the birds and squirrels to fall silent and the rest the deer's herd make a run for it. The deer at the berry bush started to run when it disappeared. A huge boom followed the Light; sending the birds into a frenzy of warning calls. A wavy outline of a school appeared where the deer had been standing. The line continued to solidify until it was a solid entity. Life forms began to stir inside the school.

Further into the forest, the fleeing deer passed the small stream that they drank from; startiling a flock of geese. The birds flew off further into the forest, they passed a cave with several deer carcasses in front. Strange claw marks were scored into the stone on either side of the cave. The geese continued on passing several more small caves. As they passed a particularly large tree, something shot out and snagged one of the birds. Drawing it back into the shadows, the creature tore into the goose. Finishing it's meal the creature tossed the geese's feet out of it's tree. The feet fell knocking into a small nest of some kind enraging a swarm of wasps. Yet seeing no identifiable threat, most of the wasps returned to the hive. With the exception of one, this wasp's time had run out. It fell dead to the forest floor. Right before it hit the ground, a small plant opened it's mouth and ate it. Spitting out the husk to decay into the earth, the plant shrank back into the shadow of it's larger parent.

Boris groaned as he came to, "The hell just happened, Coach?" Boris opened his eyes and waited for them to adjust. He looked around, trying to see through the darkness. "Coach," he asked; not seeing him anywhere. He had a huge headache for some reason and he wondered if the coach had struck him. Their argument was getting pretty heated after all. Boris got up and headed to the faint light of the window. Tossing it open, he almost fell out from shock. "What in the hell is going on," he asked in an awed voice, closing and rubbing his eyes. Opening them again he saw that, Yes, the landscape was still the same as a few seconds before.

He ran into the hallway shouting, "Coach! Coach! Yo Jace, Luke where chu guys at?" Tripping over a bag of some kind in the dark, Boris pulled out his phone so he could see. "Guys you gotta check this out. Either I'm loopin or some crazy stuff's going on. Guys!"

Abbie stirred and touched her temple. What had happened? She had been about to give her oral report. (My notes are gone. Where are my notes?) Her turn was supposed to me next. (Did I miss something? I hope I won't be marked down for this.) Had she blacked out? She had never done that before. It wasn't like public speaking made her nervous. (Compared to the rest of the class, at least.) Yet she had been asleep or something. Maybe those crackers someone had been passing around last period had been bad and she had blacked out. (Sent to the nurse's office? This isn't the nurse's office.)

Abbie raised her head. She was still in her English class, but she was the only one here; even the teacher was gone. Obviously she had blacked out for some reason and slept through class...and the next period...and the next...and lunch...and...school was out? Abbie jumped up. She was going to miss the bus!

Abbie's knee hit the edge of her desk. As the pain shot through her, she realized how absurd the notion was. The class might leave her there as a joke, but once the next class came the teacher would of course make her leave so someone else could sit there. Maybe it was just between classes, nobody from the next period had shown up yet, and the teacher had gone to the restroom or something. "I have to find Mrs. O'Neal," thought Abbie desperately as she gathered up her things, "get a chance to hand in my report so it isn't counted as overdue." She shouldered her backpack and ran into the hallway.

The quiet sound of something dripping was starting to become louder, as Eden started to wake up. She groaned as she felt her brain throbbing. "Liz you dimwit I told you to watch it when you opened your locker." She growled lowly as she sat up slowly. When no one answered her back, her eyes snapped opened. "Liz?? Ada? Suarez?!" Her voice was beginning to go up a few ocatves. She slowly got up, stumbling a bit. It was obvious that she was still in the girls locker room. All that she could remember was that the girls had just ran in from practice. She looked down and saw herself still wearing the volleyball uniform. 'those jerks probably left me here as a joke' she thought to herself. "Hey coach, do you have some Advil I can take?!" She shouted as she made her way through the locker room and into the coach's office.

'Empty' she thought to herself. Had she really slept through out the whole day on the floor of the locker room? "Y'all can stop now, this isn't funny." She half shouted as she turned on her heel and walked towards the exit. Eden couldn't believe how quiet the school was. It unnerved her. Once she was in the hallway she looked both ways before shouting, "Hello?!" She remembered one of the AP's always walking around this part of the school so she walked down calling his name, "Mr. Jefferson!!! Jefferson!!!! Hello!?"

Boris walked away from the Coach's office, continuing to call for Jace and Luke. "Guys it's not funny! Where in the hell are you guys. Did the power go out, what's up with the outside?" he called stepping over a fallen backpack. He rounded a corner when he heard someone else shouting.*

Hurrying down the hall, careful to avoid the backpacks that were laying all over the place he headed towards the voice. The light from his phone cut throughout the darkness as he got further away from the doors to the back of the school. 'What is going on! Where is everyone damn it' he thought almost tripping over another backpack. 'Why in the hell are there so many backpacks all over the place' he wondered, 'what in the hell is going on'

He was close enough to discern the voice; it was Eden, he had math with her. 'Even though she wasn't the best at math sometimes, damn she was fit' he thought. "Hey Eden, what in the hell is going on. Have you seen Coach or Jace or Luke?" he called as he rounded the corner, the light from the phone briefly sweeping over her face. "Sorry"*

Eden was running now. Every time she would call for someone, her voice would come out shaky. Something was beyond wrong, and after tripping on the fourth backpack, she was getting aggravated. "Damn it!" She growled, kicking one after tripping again.

She heard footsteps down the hall from her. She began to worry since it had gotten dark and she had left her stuff in the locker room. Before she could act, she heard Boris' voice call out. "Boris?" She lifted an eyebrow and walked over to where he was coming from. She squinted a little when he flashed her with the light on her face but she grinned, relieved that she wasnt alone. "No... I checked the coach's office to see if they were there and it was empty." She but her lip and looked around. 'Where is everyone she thought to herself. "Do you think you could come with me to get my stuff? You've got a light and Its dark soooo....." She half smiled and looked down, seeing another back pack at his feet. "Why are there so many backpacks on the floor?"

Boris laughed, "Ah I was starting to freak out. I can't find anyone anywhere and I think I've tripped over like twenty backpacks." 'Come to think of it there were a lot of backpacks around, what in the he'll was going on' he wanted to shout. The more he thought about it, the more he was starting to think that something had really gone wrong. 'Was there an evacuation or something' he thought. 'But they would have got us to leave too, Wouldn't they have?'

Snapping out of his thoughts he looked down the hall. "Yeah come on" he said, flashing the light towards the way to the locker rooms. When they reached the girls locker romm he hesitated. "You want me to stay out here," he asked looking at her volleyball uniform. He started to hold out the phone when he remembered what he had seen outside. "Oh crap, I almost forgot! When you're done, you have to look outside and tell me if I'm going insane."

"Yeah, I couldn't find any of the girls either... I think Liz might have opened her locker at the same time I stood and I probably hit myself. I actually just woke up, to be honest." Eden walked next to Boris towards the locker rooms, her eyes down on the ground to not trip. "I thought this might be a joke, but seeing that you can't find anyone.... I also thought they had just left me and that I was unconscious until now. No one ever goes in there after we're done with practice." She turned a corner and stopped in front of the door to the locker rooms. Hearing Boris' hesitation made her laugh a bit. "Yeah, I'd tell you to go into Coach's office, but if Jefferson, or another AP come by, your ass is dead and so is mine." She smiled and took the phone from him, holding a finger up. "I'll only be a minute. We can go outside then." Eden made the clicking noise with her tongue and winked playfully before running in.

Once she finished changing into her normal clothes, she shoved her volleyball stuff in her locker and ran out with her backpack. "Thanks doll. So, what's outside that's making you insane?" She smiled and gave him back his phone, running a hand through her hair.

Boris' smile faded. "Just, don't freak out ok. I mean it's kinda weird...I...It....I'll just show you" he said accepting his phone and walking towards the nearest exit. He really hoped that he wasn't imagining things and wasn't going to make a fool of himself in front of her. He noticed her backpack, 'Wonder where I left mine, Probably in Coach's office' he thought, making a mental note to head back there later and collect his stuff before going home. But something kept nagging at him. 'Why is there a frigging forest where the fields should be' He walked up to the door and pushed it open. It was sunny out, but there was some serious cloud cover in the sky. "There" he said pointing to where the soccer fields should have been. "Where in the hell is the fields, and why is there a giant ass woods there"?

Sam opened his eyes and stared blankly at the ceiling. His math class had been going to the library to get some books, and then he blacked out, which was not normal, at least not for him. As he stared into the blackness, he realized the lights were out, and that he could not hear the sound of voices. He pulled out his pocket watch and his flashlight, and looked at the time.. school shouldn't be out yet, although it was between periods, but that didn't account for the lights being off. Sam sat up and looked around with the flashlight, gone, everyone was just, gone. There didn't seem to be a rational explanation for it, and as Sam stood up, he saw a tree out the library window. Sam's eyes began to widen, he then noticed the backpacks strewn around him, and he decided to start going through them, it would distract him from what he had just seen, and he might find something useful. Wile he was still searching the backpacks, he heard the sound of voices coming from the locker rooms, and his muscles tightened, but the voices didn't seem to be moving towards him. He figured that he would try to meet up with them after he was done here. As he pulled a heavy wallet out of one of the backpacks, he heard a door open, and footsteps, that were moving towards him! He got down and hid beneath the backpacks, and waited for whoever it was to reach him, as he pulled a snickers out of a nearby backpack. The final thought that came to Sam's mind before the visitors arrival was, "Why am I hiding?"

Eden walked along side Boris as they made their way to an exit. "Don't worry. I'm not one to easily freak out." She walked out the door with him and her mouth fell open. He was right. "Wait.... But..... Where's the...... My car!?!?" Eden dropped her backpack and jogged a few feet in front of them. She ran a hand through her hair and pointed towards where the student parking should have been, but it was now covered in grass. "The fields, the cars.... Did someone put something in my drink?" Eden lifted and eyebrow and walked back over to her backpack, picking it up and looking at the woods. "What the.." She reached into her pocket, grabbing her phone to call her brother but stopped when it wouldn't turn on. She groaned and shoved it back in her back pocket, "I forgot my phone died right before practice." She looked up at Boris, hoping his worked. "You think I can borrow yours again?"
