The Silver Mist
World of the Fae
Sitting at the bar of the pub, Lucien swirled around the contents of his glass before suddenly tilted back the glass and draining its contents. Letting out a growl, before shaking his head the bartender just wiped down the counter by him. “What do you expect when you ask for a three hundred year old scotch. ” The dwarf said simply. “By the way your tabs coming due soon and it’s a heavy one.”
“Yeah yeah I know Trick, what do you expect.” He asked before he put the glass down and simply leaned back. “So any word on the Ash?”
“Just that he and Morigan have been going at it lately.”
Rasiing an eyebrow, “And what’s new with that?”
The little dwarf just shrugged. “Just that there have been a few murders, dark fae. Seems to think it might be the light that caused it. You know the drill after that.”
“Yeah, war on the brink and all that.” He said as he stood up and grabbed his coat. “Good time to be unaffiliated I suppose still, I suppose I can look into it all.” With that said, he shrugged his coat on and looked back. “I’ll have your money in a couple of days, got a job that should pay out pretty well.” He said as he made his way out of the bar, looking up in the cold night air of the city, before he started down the sidewalk.
Even if he wasn’t a Fae, between his muscular arms and body, being about five eleven, and just having a dangerous look, he wasn’t to worried about the night life.

Pushing the key back through the letter slot Rachael sighed her best friends duties done for the night, she'd done as promised and gotten her home, almost passed out drunk as usual on a Friday night and now she just had to head home herself. Normally she would have just crashed at her friends place for the night rather than risk the long trek back home but tonight she wanted her own bed for a change.
Clutching her high heels in one hand she quickly skipped onto the road, the dangers of getting run over by a car at this time of night were slim and the roads tarmac was at least softer on her bare feet than the path and she was less likely to step onto a piece of broke glass, shards of bottles littered the pavements in these area's.
Cursing softly under her breath Rachael hopped on one foot trying to dislodge a particularly sharp stone from her heel.
"Why the hell does she have to live the opposite end of town." She swore softly, picking the stone free before continuing on, trying to recognise the streets she passed.
It wasn't long before she stopped and stared at a street name, she was certain she'd never seen it before and her mental map of the city was no use at night when all her usual landmarks were invisible in the dark.
Glancing around nervously she wasn't sure whether to be pleased that she was alone or not.
"Eff it." She mumbled picking a direction at random, there was only so many places she didn't know in this city; sooner or later she was going to run across a road she did recognise or someone to ask.
Hearing a wolf whistle behind her Rachael half turned frowning, she knew she'd been lucky so far to have picked streets without anyone in them, but it seems her luck had ran out. Ignoring them she kept walking, picking up her speed slightly.
"Oy sweetheart, slow down darling."
Shaking her head she started jogging, she wasn't stupid or wanting to take any risks. Rachael just wanted to get home. Hearing the pounding of feet behind her she cursed again, turning the corner at a run; seems they weren't going to be content with just calling out insults, and ran straight into a brick wall, or so it seems.
"Sorry." She gasped, looking up and blushing Rachael quickly dodged around the guy, putting him between her the her followers, he looked like he could take care of him self.

Feeling something bump into him, and looking down at that Lucien just rose an eyebrow as he looked behind him. Though before he could question anything, he felt someone run into him, and looked back over to see some guy as well, though this guy he reached down to grab the man’s forearm. “I could be wrong about this situation, but I get the feeling the woman thinks your following her.” He said as he looked down at the man.

Glancing back behind her Rachael slowed to a halt, feeling slightly guilty about setting the poor guy up two on one; she hoped that he might just slow them down long enough that she could vanish. She knew where she was now, beside that weird Irish pub; home was just a half hour walk away, maybe 15 minutes if she jogged.
"Get off mate." He frowned trying to jerk his arm free, the idiot standing in his way had a tighter grip that he thought possible he also didn't like how the guy was looking down at him. Used to being the predatory one the look Lucien was giving him was making him very uncomfortable.
"So what if she thinks we're following her, she wouldn't have come sauntering down here if she didn't want it. Now let go and move!" Angrily he tried to yank his arm free again as his friend shoved his way past Lucien roughly.
"There you are." He grinned spotting Rachael lurking further down the street. "Get back here."

Looking back at the second guy for a moment, Lucien just shook his head seeminly not even aware of the one he was currently holding, until he spun the guy around to grab the back of his collar, before pulling him over his head and throwing him at his partner. As they crashed into one another and hit the ground, Lucien walked over to them. “I’d highly recommend running away now, otherwise you might just learn what it’s like to be hunted.” He said, though it was all with a rather dull tone. “Trust me, there are worse things in the night then a couple of thugs whose biggest prey is some helpless girl.”
The guys looked at one another for a moment, before they got up and one tried to take a swing at Lucien, only for him to grab the first guy by the wrist and twisted it to the side till he could hear a snap and dropped the guy back onto the ground as he grabbed his wrist in pain.
“Beat it,” Was Lucien’s last word as he started to walk away, leaving the other guy as he followed after the girl.

Rachael watched wide eyed as the lone man picked up one of the thugs as if he weighed no more than a child and threw him at his friend.
"What the hell?" She muttered backing away slightly, cringing as the snap of bones breaking rang out, only then did she turn and run having had enough of watching. She hadn't expected that, no human was strong enough to lift a fully grown man like that and throw him over his head, he didn't have the bulky build of a serious weightlifter and she suspected that even a few of them would struggle with what he'd just done.
A quick glance behind her showed that he'd ignored the beaten thugs in favour of following her. Her eyes darted around despirately, she didn't want to try and out run this guy and she had a feeling she wouldn't manage it. Her gaze landed on the pub and she dove through the door, it was almost empty and close to closing.
She caught the gaze of the barkeep, speaking before he could.
"Help me. There's a mad man out there." Quickly she scurried away from the door. "You need to lock it. Please lock it. He'll come in."

Looking up at the woman's sudden outburst, Trick just rose an eyebrow. He didn't say anything as he looked back at the door, and Lucien opened it up to walk inside. "Lucien, you've scared this poor woman senseless, what exactly did you do?" Shrugging, the wolf just let the door shut behind him as he shook his head and looked at the woman.
"Saved her from some thugs first of all." he said, "Your welcome by the way. Anything we need to worry about?" He asked looking at the dwarf.
"I was actually just about to close up." Finally looking at the girl, "Come on, i'll pour you a drink."

"Saved me from some thugs!?" Rachael looked at the guy in disbelief. "You threw a fully grown man over your head and broke the others wrist without trying." She glanced between the well built guy still blocking the door way and the smaller than normal barkeep.
"You are not normal." She glared at him folding her arms trying not to act as terrified as she felt, she wasn't reassured that the barkeep knew him and was wondering if she'd just walked into more trouble rather than safety.
"I don't drink." Rachael muttered, but heading over towards him anyway, the other man was still blocking the doorway not leaving her much of a choice where to go.

Shaking his head abit, "Would you have prefered I let them go after you?" He asked simply as he locked the door before walking over to the bar as well to sit down. "Look, my name's Lucien. This is Trick, we're not bad guys I promise so you can relax." He said, before he heard a sound coming from behind and looked back to look at a goblin walk out of the back room, looking like he was just waking up. "Oh boy."

Watching nervously as he locked the door Rachael decided not to answer that question.
"Rachael." She managed to smile edging back to keep some distance between herself and Lucien. "Not the bad guys yet you did that outside? I think that might be debatable."
Her gaze flicked back towards the door, now Lucien was no longer between it and herself but Trick had already got three glasses out, sighing she turned to the bar; it was probably best not to be rude to someone who could toss around men like a sack of feathers.
Raising her gaze from the drink Trick had poured at the noise of a door opening, Rachael paused the glass halfway to her lips; gasping in shock she let go of the glass pushing herself back away from the bar and the huge green skinned thing that had just walked in. The sound of the glass smashing against the floor brought her back to her senses and she bolted for the door fumbling with the lock.
Rachael had had enough tonight, from being chased by two thugs, seen them hurled around by some human and now this green giant, she hadn't even touched a drop of alcohol at the club neither.
