Aoi was born in the Land of Water, in the village hidden in the mist. His family was a renowed family known for being the origin of several extremely powerful shinobi, the actual Mizukage himself being the headmaster of the family. Due to that, Aoi's life wasn't easy when he was a child, for the boy passed through severe training to make sure that he would be able to call himself a member of said family, since it was needed proper skill, education and abilities to refer to himself as... part of the family. Such training made progress rather quickly, as yet another prodigy was apparently born; the boy graduated from the academy at eight years old, and later became a chuunin with fourteen years.
As a boy, Aoi always had showed skilled with kenjutsu, and as a gift for becoming a chuunin, he was gifted a sword named Seiken (聖剣, Sacred Sword) from his grandfather, the current Mizukage. The blade was known for being wielded by the second Mizukage at some point, but it didn't became famed because it was soon replaced by another sword, as Seiken seemed to have no special ability. The boy was glad and content with the sword, though, since even if it wasn't so special, it did look quite unique compared to most swords. But what was no special weapon would later turn into quite the powerful sword as Aoi found some odd intricate charm...
Reports said that there was something odd going in a strange dungeon, located south of Kirigakure. ANBU were sent to investigate, but they found nothing strange in it and left. Though more and more reports of men and women alike being slaughtered close-by the cavern occurred daily. To make sure that there wasn't something there, Aoi and three more Kiri-nin were tasked to go to the place and deeply investigate it, and what looked like a mere dungeon, turned out much more dangerous than it was supposed to be. The place had an area of effect genjutsu going, and they only realized when it was too late. Succumbed to the genjutsu, they all laid on the floor nearly lifelessly, the genjutsu being a powerful one which made them fight a long lasting mental battle with themselves. Soon, the group which were the ones using such genjutsu and possibly the ones who were killing random people about stepped out of their hiding, one of them commenting with a faint chuckle:
"Hyahyahya... Pathethic fools. What are we doing with them, master?" 'Master' was sure an odd way to adress someone, and it appears that this group was much more twisted than expected. "It's obvious. We will kill them." A stronger, more intimidating voice replied, followed by the sound of a blade being unsheathed. Their first target was apparently the girl, a young looking, green-haired girl who was laying flat into the ground. A tall man stepped closer to her, pointing the kunai to the back of her neck as he then brought it down without hesitation... only to have his hand cutten off by Seiken, which was being wielded by Aoi. The boy had only faked being caught in the genjutsu, he was trained by his family well enough to know what a genjutsu is and how to effectively counter one. It was a stupid mistake for these fools to believe that he was going to fall for such thing.
"The ones who are going to die here aren't us, pathethic bunch." Aoi spoke out, his voice confident and his gaze just as intense as his voice. The man who had his hand cut out was crying on the floor, blood spraying from his wrist as he held it with his other hand, shouting names and cursing helplessly as he bleeded all over himself. Something else caught Aoi's attention, though, he had a nice charm over his neck which followed the exact same design as Seiken. Enjoying the little jewelry, he pressed the tip of his blade against the man's neck, then lifted it to take the charm from his neck with the blade... And as he did this, both the blade and the charm glowed faintly, and Aoi could feel a a strange and inexplicable sensation within himself, as if a part of him had been just tkaen away. This distraction, however, costed quite a lot for Aoi. He could only feel a sudden pain on his left eye, caused by a kunai which digged directly into it, blinding his left eye completely. He felt to a knee, placing the tip of his blade against the ground to support himself against it as his left hand instantly moved to quickly remove the kunai from his now destroyed eye, the boy's breathing becoming steady and unstable. "D-Damn." He murmured, his remaining eye staring down at the charm which was on the ground now. The man who had his hand cut out lunged forward in an attempt to kill the boy, but he was stopped by a simple, "Stop".
The 'master' had spoken again, holding a malicious smirk as he slowly moved forward. Aoi knew he was the one who threw the kunai, and sure someone with such precision was probably very skileld in combat; he was already fearing his own death. As the man came closer, Aoi reached over for that charm, nearly instinctively, his fingers wrapped around the chain as he placed it around his neck. That feeling from earlier... There was something odd, between that charm and this blade. "What made you think you stood a chance against the four of us, boy? Tell me. I am merely curious and I'd love to know this before I kill you, and then your little friends. One by one." The harsh words made Aoi grind his teeth against each other, and instead of speaking, he suddenly stood up and tried to slash his blade at the man, who just leaped back slightly and dodged it easily, laughing. "You pathethic fool! You will never manage to-"
Arrogance had it's price. The man began speaking, but something unexplicable happened; the single slash produced by Aoi turned into several others, as if there was a small break in that fraction of time, causing Aoi to have more than that single moment to attack his foe. A large cut grazed over the man's neck, and just as his subordinates spotted that, they also rushed forward all at once in direction of Aoi, who just made a horinzontal slash in front of himself. The same thing happened again, he felt like he was taken to a different dimension, creating a small break in time which he could effectively use to slash his blade several more times.
One by one, the whole group felt by Aoi's feet, only in time for his team to finally awake from the genjutsu. They noticed the blood on the ground, Aoi's bloodstained hands and even his shirt. The boy could hardly believe what had just happened. He had never killed before, and to kill four men at the same time, it was surely... hard to believe. Turning himself to meet the surprised and frightened faces of his teammates, the young boy sheathed Seiken on the sheaton his back, murmuring. "I... I Took care of it, guys."
--
Several weeks passed after that. Aoi had his eye treated, well, and by treated it meant completely cleaned and removed. He had to buy himself an eye patch to save others from the bizarre sight, and adapting to the limited sight of only one eye was extremely annoying, especially for someone who uses kenjutsu as their main fighting style. The boy found himself in his house, staring with his one eye down at the sword, his hand fidgetting with the charm... then three knocks were heard at the door. He stood up to attend it, only to meet with an ANBU who hastily explained that he had to hand over Seiken and the Seishin, since it was once properpy of the Mizukage and they wanted to study it. Lies, obviously the Mizukage had heard about these two legendary artefacts being able to complement to one another, which ultimately led the Sword to become much more powerful when used together with the Charm.
Aoi tried to question the reason, but there was a lack of explanation when he asked something simple such as 'why?'. The ANBU and he even got in a heated discussion, which then ended with a fight. It ended quickly, however, as using Seiken, Aoi was able to put the man down easily. But that was a mistake, a terrible one. Aoi had assassinated a man who was part of the ANBU in his own village, in front of his house. The boy was merely sixteen by then, and while young, he knew exactly what would happen if he remained there. He'd get killed. Knowing that, he gathered what little he had and fleed the decided village as soon as possible.
During his travels, Aoi would come across a teenager - or well, someone who he had supposed to be of the same age as his, even if it was unknown to him that she was older. Her name was Izanami, and despite the two having different personalities, they did manage to befriend and get along quite well. As Aoi came across Kumogakure, he suggered that the two of them stopped and made the village their... Well, 'place to call home'. The different and unusual climate was a refreshing change, something which Aoi loved. He loved the village itself, the differences it had from Kirigakure.
It was also in here where his true personality started to blossom: The flirtatious sides showing more than anything else, and the one who suffered the most from this was Izanami due to his now constant flirting about. To him, Kumogakure was the best place in the world when it came to the ladies, their brown tanned skin, their more dominant looks... It was like a paradise! Especially if you carried a beautiful sword and an eyepatch which you could use to tell stories (false or not) in order to impress the women.
As Aoi grew older and more used to the village, he eventually received the rank of Jounin together with the title of "Kumogakure's Flash Sword" Due to his amazing skills with Seiken, naturally, the title only helped Aoi with the ladies matter, making his life even better than it already was. Though this also gave him more and more missions, leaving little time for the man to do what he enjoyed the most, meeting new people and new places. Together with Izanami, Aoi asked the Raikage directly for a different sort of rank. Not sure of what to call it, he went by 'Freelancer', both him and Izanami now worked as mercenaries, still serving Kumogakure, but only when it was extremely needed or when they wished to.
