    California: Freedom, a Last hope

    2035-

2034 marked the year that the last few precious drops of oil were sucked from a screaming Earth.

At first the people of this planet felt confident that enough barrles were put away to last the global population years, and few worried, so confident that their governements had long been putting away for their futures.

These last few barrels were no where near the numbers the population had been expecting, hoping, and praying they were.

In 2035 the Earth was out of the Crude it had become so dependent on, and much of the Earth's economy crumbled. Gas prices spiked, followed shortly by the closing of gas stations entirely. As people began abandoning their now usless cars in the streets horses and carts saw a spike in popularity.

Construction grinded to a halt as the machines we once used to accomplish spectacular architectual feats were now as useless as the cars were.

With the closing of so much industry, unemployment spiked, and currency world wide became largely wothless as the Earth plunged into a depression deeper than it had ever seen before. Far surpassing the depression of a hundred years before.

With the farming industry going back to virtual medievial days, technology wise, the price of food spiked. With the lack of jobs, and the worthlessness of money in general, starvation was a common every day occurence.

2040- With starvation being at an all time high, and especially so within the more "developed" countries that depended on the crude all the more, the world's population protested against the injustice of it all.

Protestors flooded the world's capitals and demanded a solution to the crippling problems.

As the world stumbled through a succession of failed experimental alternative resources, and a failure to restart the economy, protestors became even more agitated and infuriated. Felling as though their goverments were failing them, protestors became revolutionaries as they declared open revoltion world wide.

The battles that followed would be forever remembered as the Dark Revolts.

2050- As the Dark revolts stretched on and on without a clear end in sight, a conglamorate of the former oil company powers came together. Their rescource of choice may have long run out, but they saw an oppurtunity elsewhere in the Earth...Coal.

They combiend their riches into one pot, and sought after this material. With specaliized technology, and much of this material for the taking, they soon began a successful supermonoply of the world's energy.

As they were successful in revitalizing the world's economy, governments saw the light at the end of a long, dark, tunnel. They soon began cowtowing to the whims of this mega corporation. The wolrd was now effectivaly run by this conglamorate, however the corporation needed to keep a continuious supply of this material coming in to keep their power. This was very expensive, but the company saw a way to cheapen the costs. Forced labor of the World's children.

The young could be used to reach areas the adults simply could not. As the governments obeyed the whims of The Corporation it was brought into law that a person hencefourth could not earn citizenship, and a place in the new society, without having done labor for the Corporation in their childhood.

Forced Labor camps sprung up world wide, and children 5-17 years old were rounded up. The Corporation payed the parents a small stipend to hand over the children peacfully, however as they more often than not did no such thing, they enrolled the help of the world's govenrments. This united front was collectively called the Worker Insurance and Enforcement Response, or Wire for short.

2052- As this law was brought into effect, and people world wide realized their governments would willingly follow through with this madness, people once again rebbeled in out rage.

As people with children were statistically the higest revolters these world wide uprisings were commonly reffered to as the Parent Efforts.

2053- Although these revolutionaries fought bravely, often hand in hand with their child counter parts, they were soundly defeated. Between the massive rescources of The Corporation and the military might of the Wire the Freedom Fighters were quickly beaten back.

Corporate response to these attempted coups of their power was met with world wide martial law. People were denied basic human rights, arts and entertainment were now limited to Corporate Propaganda, and such basic human necesities like food and water were put under strict rationing. This united dictatorship was called the New order, and publically replaced all the previous governments. Dissenters were, needless to say, not tolerated.

2075- Dark days spawn incrediable human acts of bravery and will. Even more so while under the yoak of opression.

This was especially so for the children dwelling in the Labor Camps. Trapped in these facilities they began to develope their own society, customs, and rules. These played interchangeably. As nearly every child clung to this sense of community, they followed their rules religiously. These rules were commonly reffered to as the "Laws".

Law 1- Mourn the lost and dead, but do not allow tears to stain your face. Instead sing for the loss of your dear family.

Law 2- Betrayal is the final sign of being successfully broken. What we children do is for our own eyes and ears alone.

Law 3- Work for the Wire if you must, but your loyalty must be for your brothers and sisters.

Law 4- All those of the age of 12 must choose a newly captured brother or Sister to share with all things. Share your experience, nurture them, care for them, and protect them as best you can. Until the day you have your freedom, and beyond.

Law 5- Never forget that we are all family.

    This is the Law
    - An unknown revolutionary

2110- Word of a successful revolution in California, and an independent Mexico spread through the Work Camps like wild fire.

Although near everyone has heard the stories no one can decide how these events came to be. Some say California is a child run state where a bulk of runaway workers over threw the former government. Some say Mexico has found an alternated fuel source, and liberated the first state it could with its new found riches and resources. No matter what story you believe, however, almost everyone has clung to this hope. This excludes only the most cynical, some of the oldest, and those already broken.

2111- John Eli, having successfully united the children of the massive Labor Complex in Pittsburgh PA staged the first successful coup of a work camp. In this act he showed that the WIRE was not infailable. Words of his accomplishments soon exploded, and he became a folk hero.

The last verified sighting of John saw him leading armed forces out of California.

(I'm not entirely sure what I should have us RP about. I was hoping I could get some help with that from people that show interest. I'm completely open to edit anything. (Oh, and being that one or more of the above pictures are of sensitive materials I should also apoligize for any discomfort.)

( Do I have any takers?)

Don't be mean to me, I'm too lovable.

I would just like to take this opportunity to say that I'm sorry if I drunk post. I can't say for sure that it won't happen. I can say I'll try not to let it, but I cant promise. I'm a very happy drunk though, so the worst you'll get is something incomprehensible. Such as IUN iuju adfwef.

I'll probably edit this soon, but I need to know if there's any interest first.

    Count me in, for sure.

I'd be particularly interested in playing an older character sympathetic to the child workers, but I'd be totally open to playing one of the rebels, too.

You know?...looking at it now it occurs to me that this RP might attract a wider audience if I do some serious editing. Anyone willing to give me a hand? ( I'll do it if I dont get any help, but I think it would be all the better if I had someone backng me up.

Are the people that showed interest before ( or others) still interested? If so, I can have this RP up and running by Friday night at the latest.
