    What Naruto Would Look Like...

if it actually used plot elements effectively.

Imagine a Naruto in which the characters have problems you can actually relate to. A world in which you are immersed with the struggles of a protagonist who attempts to cope with having a monster in him by externalizing. He starts out alone, insecure, always trying to prove himself to the world, but then he met Sasuke. At first he didn't like Sasuke because he is jealous of his natural talents and how everyone looks up to him despite always shutting down any attempts at conversation. However after teaming up with him, he begins to feel a kinship with Sasuke because in a lot of ways, they grew up alone in a world that hated them. They both had dreams to make something of their lives despite the challenges. It is the thing which drives them both to try so hard. Sakura assumes she understands both Naruto and Sasuke, but it is made clear she understands nothing because she can't even realize that Sasuke wants nothing to do with her, yet Naruto would give anything to be with her. It is Sakura's role in the team that drives Naruto and Sasuke apart. Always needed to be protected, making Naruto and Sasuke feel their power is inadequent. Naruto turns to the evil, corrupting power of the nine tailed fox. Sasuke to the cursemark. Naruto ends up alright because with his hard work and determination, he made lots of friends to help him through the tough times. The socially isolated Sasuke however did not fare as well. Consumed with rage toward his brother, he remained disconnected and resentful to everyone but Naruto. Because of the dark history behind the Uchiha, Sasuke sadly resorts to breaking this bond for more power, no longer remembering that he wished to protect something. Naruto however is not ready to give up on Sasuke, because he knows that he is the only one who knows how to reach out to him. He spends years training and exploring the world, and then we reach the shippuden ark.

This sounds like it's gonna take a turn into yaoi.

It kind of felt that way despite Naruto pining over Sakura every 5 seconds, yeah.

Dragonball Z in a nutshell, except replace angst with vicious staring contests and flash shots of the landscape.

This is exactly what happens in the show, and I know this because I watched well into the Orochimaru arc when the show was originally airing.

I'm not sure I understand the point of the post.

I wish it had had more timely character development.

Have you seen the Naruto Fanfiction section?

All the stories are Naruto and Saskue getting it on. It basically already is a yaoi
