Could I be a telekinetic, or a telepathic medic or something?
I was thinking there could be a vault like the city in Bio-Shock.
I've been wanting to do a Borderlands RP for a while, but I haven't seen one yet and I haven't had any real ideas until just now.
This is going to be a discussion topic on how things will work in the RP. As you know at the end of the second game(and stop now and leave if you really don't want spoilers for this bit) there are hundreds of other vaults throughout the universe. We'll be hunting one, which means the first step toward plot is coming up with the planet on which we live. It could be another lawless world like Pandora, or it could be a highly populated metropolis, and we'll be doing mostly urban fighting with tons of civilians. This is something that needs to be discussed.
Next is classes. I'm thinking five characters, one for each class type. So a soldier of some form, a berserker, a sniper, a siren, and something mechanical perhaps. Each one will have an action skill, and perhaps a few passive traits that they can gather along the way. The people playing each respective role will come up with the character and class.
I personally think that the skill tree system would be pointless in a text based game, but if you disagree(and have a plan for implementing it) feel free to say so.
Loot. Loot is a lot of fun. So much fun that I am loath to cut it out of the game. But I also don't want people just going "And then I found an awesome new gun that was exactly what I wanted." Can anyone think of a feasible way to do random loot drops in a text based game?
Anything else that you feel needs to be addressed?

Hmmm, this is a really interesting concept to me. I didn't beat BL2, and in fact I believe I sold it already, but the idea of there being Vaults on densely populated worlds is very intriguing. At the same time, there is the problem with disrupting the lives of a well developed citizenry, and the fact that a densely populated world would almost certainly be well explored, and thus its far more likely that the vaults would've been found already on these worlds. However, there is the matter of the Vault Keys, so even if one was found, it would still have to be opened.
They wouldn't necessarily have been found. Planets are huge, and it could be deep underground(like the vault in BL2). It's not like people dig down everywhere just to see what's underneath.
But that does present a problem, because we would need to be able to get there. And if there is a vault key, we'd need to find it too. And the same thing applies to it: if it was on the surface it would have been found, and if it was deep underground we'd need to be able to get there.
Possible solution: The vault is deep underground where we can't find it, but the vault key will take us there if all the pieces can be gathered together. There are two known ones, and they are currently in the possession of two separate warring factions(probably some of the companies from the games). And the last one is on one of the planet's moons, which was formed from a chunk of the planet itself that was torn off in a meteor collision long before humans got there(but obviously after the Eridians had come and gone).
Pardon me, I forgot to address it.
I assume you're suggesting a possible Siren class. As I said in the first post, the classes and characters will be up to the players who choose the classes.
EDIT: And let me clarify: I don't do dibs or first come first serve. I'm just warning you.
As for the Bioshock bit: gimme some more on that and we'll talk.
IN other words, Rapture is a techno city under the water which appears to be a quite advanced city without being much more, if any more advanced than Fallout. I have never played, by the way Border lands but this seems like it would fit."Setting
BioShock is set during 1960, in the fictional underwater city of Rapture; the player learns of its history through in-game audio recordings scattered throughout the game.[27][29] The city was planned and constructed in the 1940s by Objectivist business magnate Andrew Ryan who wanted to create a utopia for society's elite to flourish outside of government control. Scientific progress greatly expanded, including the discovery of the plasmid ADAM created by sea slugs on the ocean floor; ADAM allowed its users to alter their DNA to grant them super-human powers like telekinesis and pyrokinesis.
Despite the apparent utopia, class distinctions grew, and former gangster and businessman Frank Fontaine sought to expand on that to overthrow Ryan. Fontaine created black market routes with the surface world, and together with Dr. Brigid Tenenbaum, created a cheap plasmid industry by mass producing ADAM through the implanting of the slugs in the stomachs of orphaned girls, nicknamed "Little Sisters". Fontaine used his plasmid-enhanced army to attack Ryan but appeared to die in the battle, allowing Ryan to seize his assets including the Little Sisters. In the months that followed, a second figure named Atlas rose to speak for the lower class, creating further strife. Atlas led attacks on the factories making Little Sisters, and Ryan countered by creating "Big Daddies", plasmid-enhanced humans fitted into giant lumbering diving suits that would protect the Little Sisters.[27] Ryan also created his own army of plasmid-enhanced soldiers, named "Splicers", which he controlled through pheromones in Rapture's atmosphere.
Tension came to a head on New Year's Eve of 1959, when Atlas ordered an all-out attack on Ryan. The battle left many dead, and the few sane survivors barricaded themselves away. What once was a beautiful utopia had fallen into a crumbling dystopia.[30]
I have played Bioshock, I meant give me more of an idea. Like, how it would be applied to the Borderlands world
Gisk: That's totally sound as far as I'm concerned. I have nothing really to add to that Possible Solution. lol
Cool. I don't suppose you have any ideas about loot generation?
