    Plot
    .
In the battle of good and evil, it appears like good has finally triumphed. The dreaded Monster King's army, while greatly outnumbering their enemies, suffered a crushing defeat to High King Erthroad's human alliance in the Battle of Endless Plains, forcing the monsters to retreat out of almost all of the territory that they had gained during this eight year war. In order to secure a safe retreat for his most important subjects, the Monster King used the "legendary" Shrub Battalion in order to hold off the human army and then hold onto Duskhold Tower, the second order being a death warrant even larger then the first, for they were to hold it alone rather then fall back with the rest of the army. It was the last remaining fortification in human territory still within their possession. The members of Shrub Battalion were expendable in his eyes, either considered to be incompetent, in the way, or otherwise needing to be exterminated, so Duskhold Tower was not only expected to be their final resting place, but also secretly encouraged. However, both he and the humans would both soon be quite surprised. Despite heavy losses, the Shrub Battalion was indeed able to hold off the human army and make it into the tower relatively intact, damaged but not destroyed. The humans completely surrounded the tower so that there was no way for them to escape, but underestimating them their best forces have moved on to join the counterattack against the rest of the Monster King's army, which was still putting up a vicious fight. Meanwhile, both outnumbered and outmatched, the Shrub Battalion has organized a hastily made defense in order to repel the attack being planned to wipe them out. Can they survive against insurmountable odds? What will they do with all that time off spent trapped inside a single tower? Will they ever be able to get out of this predicament? Will they experience great hardships or lots of lols for our enjoyment? We're about to embark on an epic tower defense roleplay in order to find out.

    All Things Monster
    .
In this world all sorts of monsters exist, both the classics and some originals created either by you or me. Some of them are more powerful then humans, while others are little weaklings that a child could punt across the ground. Unfortunately the Shrub Battalion has a lot of those types. Different kinds of monsters are unique so it's hard to explain what they all look or act like. Most normal monsters can be mentally controlled by a unique and rare power available to the Monster King and his bloodline, which is why the monsters that are usually too stupid to do anything are able to form into armies. The more intelligent a monster is the more it can resist the power, but it can be very hard if someone as powerful as the Monster King tries to take direct command of you.
    .
There can also be half monster/half humans, which the Monster King is not entirely trustworthy of (not being able to control them with his mind power very well) and considers them to be a threat to his reign because of this, which is one of the reasons why some of them were placed in the Shrub Battalion to be killed off. Some half humans look almost completely human besides some trait such as horns, but other times their monster half is more prominent. If the half monsters are secretly thought of as tainted and distrusted by many of the pure monsters, only kept in the army due to their usefulness, then full humans on the other hand are treated with pure loathing by a lot of monsters and especially the Monster King himself. He can make exceptions for half humans, but if he finds out of full human is in his forces then there's going to be major trouble. In fact, the Shrub Battalion secretly did get a few human soldiers to team up with them in order to win a battle, but even so they were to pay for that, which is one of the reasons for them being the ones sent on the suicide mission of defending Duskhold Tower. The Shrub Battalion, while still mostly evil and trying to take over or destroy humanity, is more accepting then the Monster King would like.
    .
The Shrub Battalion has a teenage girl named Ellid who's half monster and is the granddaughter of the Monster King, thus having the bloodline to keep monsters in check that need to be, though she doesn't like using this power. Due to her grandfather not liking her, mostly due to having a human father who had killed monsters in the war, this "earned" her a spot in our group. Oddly enough she was quickly able to get a lot of support and loyalty for those of the Shrub battalion, perhaps even more so then their loyalty to her father. She inspired many monsters to do their best against the human armies that outnumbered and outmatched them, able to pull off victories nobody thought possible with such weak monsters, which Ellid cherishes just as much as the high powered ones. She's in charge, but there are also other heroes and important members among the group. Some don't trust/like her or are jealous.
    .
(A list of monsters will be added soon)
    .
    All Things Human
    .
Humans have always been at bad terms with the monsters but now it's even worse, considering them a menace to society and should be exterminated at all cost, much in the same way that monsters now view humans. The Holy Knights of Beliore, in particular, have made it their goal to make this destruction happen. Both sides think the other started this bitter feud, and perhaps both are in the wrong and fear what they don't understand. With the dreaded Monster King in power vowing to cleanse the world of all humans to make a better world for monsters, the hostilities escalated even further into all out war. This monster aggression was proof to the humans that the monsters were indeed as dangerous as they had believed, so public opinion to kill all monsters is high.
    .
Human territory is comprised of five major kingdoms; Beliore (the largest and most powerful located at the center), Elliase (a magical based kingdom to the north), Rent (a small kingdom with a lot of culture to the east), Eurth (a warrior culture to the west), Talae (a normally pacifist nation to the south). In light of the threat from the Monster King they all formed into one big alliance under High King Erthroad of the Beliore Kingdom. This turned the tide from certain defeat to a fighting chance. The main monster invasion army was caught from three sides at the Endless Plains in Beliore, leading to a great victory for the human alliance. The monsters were forced down through Talae, where what few soldiers they had were dead. The Shrub Battalion has been left to occupy Duskhold Tower, one of the only military towers in Talae. Given permission, armies from the other kingdoms have passed into the kingdom to surround the tower and to press the attack with the retreating monster army, which has been pushed out of all human kingdoms now besides this one tower.
    .
(A list of human enemy units will be added soon)
    .
    Duskhold Tower
    .
Duskhold Tower is 50 stories in height. It's exterior is made up of white stone at the bottom that slowly turns darker the higher it goes up. It's circular with a diameter of 280 feet. Almost every floor has windows to fire arrows out of and some have larger doorways leading to little outside sections that wrap around the tower. The tower has been said to be built by giants for the humans long before the war between humans and monsters began.
    .
***Floors 1 to 10 -These ten floors are designed with defense in mind, having many choke points around important areas and a large opening in the middle that archers can fire down into. A magical control system on the 10th floor can be used to raise and lower certain walls situated around these floors. Spike pits and other traps can also be set up.
***Floors 11 to 20 -These floors are for living quarters that can support far more individuals then just the Shrub Battalion. As it is now some people have entire rooms to themselves. The hallways here are also kind of easy to defend but there aren't nearly as many areas for traps.
***Floors 21 to 30 -Made for recreational activities. There's a dinning hall on 21, a garden on 22, massive library on 23 to 24, and rooms for various other activities and sports on the other floors. A lot of these rooms are poorly defended.
***Floors 31 to 40 -The 31st floor is a dungeon to keep prisoners, although the Shrub Battalion rarely keeps prisoners. The cemetery is on the 32nd floor with tombstones to be placed for allies who have died, but as for the humans they're often thrown into pits until used later on such as for some monster's food. These pits are joked to be the second dining hall. Other floors above this one have most of this tower's storage areas. There's a small, out of the way brewery on the 40th floor said to have far better alchohol served then at the dinning hall.
***Floors 41 to 50 -Are the last lines of defense and the rooms for the most important individuals. Some of the floors have a certain theme about them, such as floor 41 having a lot of trees and forest related stuff, and luckily lots of traps that can be hidden under the leaves. 42 has earth related stuff, 43 ice, etc. Floor 49 has the throne room and floor 50 is the private quarters of the person in charge, this time being Ellid.
    .
    "Playing" the Roleplay
    .
The battle sections of this roleplay will take strategic planning like a tower defense game. We can have our characters fighting epically while also giving out orders for our minions to help out with whatever plan you have hatched if you're an officer. But how can you command monsters without the mind control, you might ask? Well, thanks to Ellid's control and some of the monsters being intelligent enough, you'll be able to manage, but not perfectly at the start. The longer this goes on the stronger the bonds and we'll all become a team who works well together.
    .
So what do we do outside of battle? Mostly character develop and interactions through interesting/humorous scenarios that occur due to all of us stuck in the tower for so long. We may even see our characters get a little bit batty over time and do things they wouldn't normally do in order to entertain themselves. The focus will be on the Shrub Battalion, but human characters can also get some time in the spotlight. However, for those fighting the Shrub Battalion you should expect to lose.
    .
    Rules
    .
    1. All standard rules such as no god modding and killing each other without permission applies
    2. I can create rules when necessary, but I'll be fair
    3. No excessive swearing. If needed for some comical event, bleep it out or be creative with your choice of words
    4. No one liner posts in the IC
    5. If you're gone for a week with no explanation, I can do whatever I want with your character within this roleplay
    6. You can have more then one character
    7. Feel free to suggest ideas, wither it's new types of monsters or even major plot points.
    8. You can be a human, half human, or any monster you can think of or create as long as you don't god mod
    9. You can not be Ellid. You can be the Monster King if you are super good at showing you can roleplay as him how I have in mind he'd be
    10. This takes place in the medieval age, so no normal guns (magical weapons behaving like guns are okay). Gunpowder is just being found out
    11. Have a sense of humor, but don't go so wacky that it destroys the rest of what this roleplay is about
    12. Post a possible motto for the Shrub Battalion at the bottom of your character sheet to show that you read the rules. The motto can be anything as long as you make it clear that it's a possible motto.

    Name- Izaka Sazaka

    Age -28

    Gender- Male

    Race- Half-Naga
Either a naga with human characteristics, or a human with serpentine qualities. In Izaka's case, it is the latter. He posseses a human body that is able to see in infrared at night, heal minor wounds by shedding skin, sense 'smells' in the air with a forked tongue, etc.

    Job- Spell-sword, mostly close range.

    Appearance-

Personality- Doesn't exactly care for humanity or even his fellow demons. He takes joy in the concept and art of battle, as these are the only things he truly excel at.

Likes- Ingesting the corpses of his enemies whole.

Dislikes- Paladins, holy warriors, religious zealots.

    Powers-
Wind, lightning, and gravity based magic. Mostly used in close to mid-range for the purpose of enhancing his swordsmanship. Magic is rarely used unless it is conjunction with one of his sword skills.

Talents- Commanding other soldiers in battle. Working with subordinates.

Shortcomings- Working with others on equal footing. Being a socialite.

    Biography-
Long story short, human society wouldn't accept his 'tainted' heritage as they put it and demon kind always looked down on his mixed blood with contempt and a bit of curiosity. In this world where no one was willing to accept the stranger, he decided it was easier to just prove his worthiness and therefore entered the service of the demon king, now his strength can no longer be questioned and people don't look at him with such funny faces anymore.

    "I'll devour your bones."

    Gender: female

    Race: Cervidae

    Job: Ranger

    Appearance:

Personality: A bit flighty at times, Azi is lighthearted and kind. During battle however, she tends to become rather cold and detached.

Likes: Being outside, food, companionship, running, and a good game.

Dislikes: Being trapped, being hurt, boredom, and being forced to do things against her will.

Powers: Has a small amount of nature magic, useful for escape or immobilizing enemies. Also has a slight affinity with animals.

Talents: Exceptionally skilled with the bow, very flexible, fast and can jump very high.

Shortcomings: Has very little in the way of armor as it has been sacrificed for speed and mobility. While she has a dagger for close combat
she is not very skilled with it.

Biography: Grew up on the plains with her herd, hunting and tracking game. When her herd was killed by a marauding group of humans she left the plains and joined the Demon Kings army.
Due to her lack of close combat skill, she was placed in the Shrub Battalion.

Motto: "We will prevail! Forever and always!"

Character accepted. It appears like your likes and dislikes puts your character in a horrible situation, being stuck inside a single tower.

    Name- Ellid
    Age- 14
    Gender- Female
Race- Half human, Half Dark Lord (the race that the Monster King is that has no other name for it)
    Job- Shrub Battalion Commander
Appearance- She has shoulder length white hair that's kind of spiky, but the spikes lay down rather then pointed upwards. Her eyes are normally red, a trademark of her father, and the pupils are slit like a cat. Her face is surprisingly soft and unintimidating looking in contrast to her fierce red eyes. She has two pointy fangs, but they aren't as long as a vampire nor does she drink blood. Like her face, her height and weight also puts her at an unintimidating 5 feet exactly and only 64 pounds. She looks a little on the frail side but is not anorexic, so her decreased weight is unnatural. She likes to use purple eyeliner and purple nail polish, but due to being trapped with limited supplies she rarely does this.
Attire- She commonly wears a black hooded coat with golden markings. She has a habit of not wearing much underneath, but if she does put something on it's almost always a black outfit that looks similar to what ninja supposedly wears and when needed thinly soled knee high boots, but prefers going barefoot if possible.
Personality- She's very soft spoken and usually sounds very bored as a result, rarely raising her voice or showing much emotion in it even if she's feeling emotional. This causes some people to claim she's no being sincere, but that's hardly the case. She's very caring when it comes to monsters, treating them as valued companions on an equal footing as herself. Even the ones that are of limited intelligence are treated well. Unfortunately she can be too much of a pushover while trying to please everyone, but does put her foot down when she knows she's in the right and people's lives are on the line. At times she can be very stubborn and headstrong. Other times she's very playful and likes to make up games to help entertain others. Sometimes she doesn't quite understand personal space or those who wish to be left alone. She gets bored easily so is almost always searching for something to keep both her and other occupied. She sometimes says weird/morbid things. In battle she tends to apologize to her opponents and may even shield or cover her eyes when delivering fatal blows, but on the other hand she doesn't spare any enemy lives unless it serves a tactical advantage. That being said, as long as it gives her a tactical advantage and doesn't jeopardize the safety of her fellow monsters then she's not above carrying out any plan to destroy her enemies. She likes protecting her monsters more the killing enemies, so given the choice she'll try to save the most lives as possible.
Likes- Monsters, outsmarting and defeating the enemy, humming, dancing, helping/entertaining others, thinking games, pastry, jelly, both men and women
    Dislikes- Her friends/allies suffering
    Powers:
Monster Control- Due to her grandfather's bloodline ability, she can control monsters and half monsters to a much lesser extent. Over all her control is far weaker then his and she doesn't like using it anyways besides a useful but difficult technique to increase the fighting abilities of someone, but getting such an increase takes a lot of focus so she can only control one person in such a manner at any one time as of now. Most of her normal control simply keeps monsters in line and gives then a basic strategy when they normally couldn't think one up or follow directions well.
Morphosis- She can rapidly alter her body (individual parts or in it's entirety) into the form of a grey monster that's as tall as 8 feet. Her clothing gets ripped but her cloak can expend to fit this new form. Normally she only alters an arm or two to be super strong and have deadly claws. Turning her entire body is very exhausting to use for extended periods. She can also have spiky tendrils sprout from her forearms, back, and calves and extend for roughly 8 feet or even shoot off like darts. During morphosis she gets more of a blood lust in a "Kill everything! mwahahaha!" way rather then a "Kill everything! It's the smart thing to do but be careful everyone!" way. She's still smart but is more dangerously aggressive.
Time Stop- A very exhausting ability. For around 3 seconds her time, with intense focus she can make time around her slow down.
Telekinesis/Telepathic- She can move things and communicate with her mind, but in a very limited manner right now.
Super Senses- Her five senses are greatly enhanced when she focuses on them.
Talents- Observant, intelligent, singing, dancing, balancing things on nose, hopscotch, can lick elbow
Shortcomings- Pushover to those she tries to please, normal body only as physically capable as slightly weak teenage girl, doesn't know how to swim, gets drunk super quickly
Equipment- A thin black bladed sword
Biography- Her father is a hero from Beliore who had slain many monsters, but fell in love with the daughter of the monster king. Rather then slay her, he married her. The official story actually ends with her sparing his life and not the other way around, as even heroes have trouble against relatives of the monster king. Not long after people found out the truth and Ellid was born, both sides were furious at the couple. Ellid's mother was devoured by the monster king's most valuable "pet" for such treachery after making a deal to spare her husband's and daughter's life in exchange for giving herself up. Ellid was indeed spared in order to be used as a tool, but her father was still given the order to be killed. Somehow he managed to kill more monsters and escape. Ellid never even saw his face. Growing up she was used for her intelligent to come up with ways to destroy the human armies, considering it like a game as was praised only when she came up with plans that had satisfactory results. Once she was old enough she was placed on the front lines with the Shrub Battalion. While ruthless against enemies, she was not so with humans who wanted to aid her for one reason or another. Using these humans betrayer she was able to surprise the rest of the human army and had a couple legendary victories that put her in the spotlight, such as the Massacre at Fort Ellor where she lost less then 20 of her own forces and decimated the opposing army stationed in the fort. Jealous of this spotlight, the monster king didn't want her around any more, thinking the monsters could easily win without her. After finding out how she won with the aid of humans, her fate assigned to her was to die at Duskhold Tower. She is fighting not only for herself, but also the others in her battalion and will put her legendary skills to good use to try and change this fate.

    The Wolf Brothers

    Name-
    Ingavar Rathnel
    Age - 57
    Gender- Male
    Race- Werewolf
    Job- Tank
    Appearance-
This, but with solid white fur. He's also always wearing a massive amount of very, very heavy armor. It takes a good deal more then a soldier with a sword to get through that armor. There are also an array of scars all over his body, beneath the fur and armor. He's almost always carrying a massive double sided axe, that most can hardly lift. And yet, he runs around swinging it with one hand...

    Aaaand his human form.

Personality- He's straight forward, humorous, and protective. Unless someone pisses him off. Then he's just a blood hungry tank with a big grin.

Likes- War, blunt attitudes, weapons of all kinds, and wine. Loves his wine.

Dislikes- Heat, cowards, being bored, and tiny sharp things. Mostly because they irritate him.

Powers- Ing has a remarkable control over the cold and ice, thus his hate for heat. Give him a second to freeze surrounding moisture, and he can have about anything made from ice. Like walls. Or weapons. Of course, doing to much with it at once -does- tend to tire him out. Aside from that, being a werewolf gives him a certain rapid healing.

Talents- Grabbing all the attention of enemies, crushing people, maiming people, killing in general, warfare.... He's a tank, what do you expect?

Shortcomings- Being subtle, keeping his temper, etc. Pretty much anything that doesn't involve smashing people.

Biography- I'm horrid at backstories, so I'll keep this to -why- such a powerful dude is in the battalion of wimps. Being a werewolf, he -can- take a human form. As such, he's seen as half human. More so then usual. And so saying, the monster king threw him, (And his brother) into the battalion.

Other- "We're the Shrub battalion. We maim you, smash you, and eat you. Now, do stand back so I can cleave you with my axe."

    Name-
    Nicholas Rathnel

    Age - 46

    Gender- Male

    Race- Werewolf

    Job- Ranger

    Appearance-
Like his brother, his fur is solid white. Unlike his brother, however, he doesn't wear excessive heavy armor. In fact, he sticks to light, flexible leather. Due to his habit of staying way the fuck back and using his bow, he isn't nearly as scarred as his brother, and instead of carrying around a massive axe, he uses, as stated, his bow. A very large, very powerful bow, with serrated arrows, dipped in nuerotoxins. Gotta love that shit.

And here we have Nicks human form.

Personality- The exact opposite of his brother- He likes being vague, subtle, and keeps his humor at the "sarcastic and subtle" level. However, he -is- just as protective as Ing, if not as quick to anger.

Likes- The subtle things in life, strategy, anything involving archery, and wine. Loves his wine just like his brother.

Dislikes- Brutes, (Aside from his brother of course) dullards, lack of strategy, and up close fighting.

Powers- Nada, unless you count the trait of quick healing he shares with his brother.

Talents- Being badass, archery, and being subtle.

Shortcomings- Being blunt, hitting things up close, and grabbing attention from people.

Biography- Same as his brother, this.

Other- "You won't get near the Shrub battalion. Because by the time you make it in eyesight, you'll be on the ground, with an arrow in your neck."

Interesting Differences: The brothers maintain several interesting differences, while looking almost like twins. Aside from scarring, size is a big one. Ingavar, being hte tank he is, has adjusted to be... well, rather massive, standing at almost eleven feet tall. Nick, however, has adjusted to his own more subtle ways of fighting, standing quite short, at a mere 5'11". Just thought I'd add that.

Right, the werewolf brothers. Might not fit in, or they might. Made them for shits and giggles to spread two of my favorite characters around. XD

    Name- Lyllieth
    Age - 17
    Gender- Female
Race- Tertius Visus [Latin for "Third Sight"]
    Job- Medic

    Appearance-

Personality- Lyllieth is an extremely curious girl, which often leads her into trouble. The monster has a bad habit of making fun of others and hurting their feelings, even if she doesn't mean any harm. She loves to learn and explore, and sees no point in the feud between monsters and humans. Sarcasm is like a second language to her, and she's called a 'smart aleck' by many. She's normally happy and bubbly.

Likes- Music, Art, Her friends, Going on adventures, Training

Dislikes- Power-hungry jerks, Liars, Having to stay at home, Listening to her father, Training

Powers- Lyllieth has what people call an "All Seeing Eye". It helps her to heal, take in more of her surroundings than the average person, and sometimes (rarely) she can see little clips of what's going on in a whole different part of the world. Her ears can also hear from miles away, and her scent is enhanced.

Talents- Lyllieth is extremely good at hiding and doing impressions of others. She's also mildly good at hand-to-hand combat.
Shortcomings- She's not good when it comes to things like math or reading and writing. She also can't sit still for very long.

Biography- Lyllieth is one of the few Tertius Visus. Her father is half-human half-minotaur, and her mother was a minotaur, so they suspect that one of their distant ancestors must be Tertius Visuses as well. Growing up, Lyllieth lost her mother to a pack of humans. Even so, she did not resent the humans. She simply views it as a mistake. After her mother's death, her father became extremely protective of her, always trying to keep her inside. Lyllieth rebelled against this, and went traveling almost everyday. A few days before her seventeenth birthday, Lyllieth's father was forcee to join the Shrub Battalion. Lyllieth suspected that it was because he had human blood. Devastated, she decided to join herself. She was not going to let him do this alone.

If at first you don't succeed, you are a worthless loser.

Characters accepted, but what do they look like in human form?

Character accepted. So her minotaur inherited trait was the horns (and possibly the third eye) but otherwise she looks like a human?
