He smirked at her for but a moment before taking off his jacket, which was actually bloody and slightly damaged, and put it around her shoulders. Though she didn't need it now, he wrapped his arm around her shoulder and helped her out the cell and down the hall. Harper noticed that the male werewolf was gone, but as the four stepped up into the foyer they heard the sound of a wolf back downstairs and they knew that Cesare was being killed slowly. The foyer was filled with the horrific results of a large battle, one that Harper couldn't remember. Bodies were on the stairs, blood decorated the walls and floor. "I...did I do this? Last thing I knew, I was at the party just after you disappeared and I felt a burning on a wrist...then I was in front of you." He was a bit awestruck as they exited the mansion and found a car to steal. He had caused a lot of damage without even knowing about it. He looked down to his hand, seeing some spatterings of blood on it and he actually feared himself for the first time.

They didn't get far in the car, just to the dock of the island, where they were able to use a large boat to transport the car to the mainland and return to the apartment. Heading inside, they both took a shower and sat down on the couch in the living room. He sat away from her, seemingly lost in his thoughts, but she scooched up next to him and placed a hand onto his knee, getting him to look into his eyes. She asked if he was alright. "I...I'm not sure, I mean, I know I'm a blood thirsty killer, I know what I am and I don't deny it, but each time I killed, it was of my own accord. It was my choice, but when you were captured, I blacked out, I had no control of my body whatsoever. For some reason...that terrifies me. What if it happens again? What if it happens and I hurt you instead of helping you? ...I really shouldn't be dwelling on it huh? I should be celebrating, My dad is dead. By vampiric rights, I'm a vampire lord, or my child will be a vampire lord. To be honest, all this rank and promotion is starting to get old, you know?" He leaned forward and clasped his hands together. "Those others, the other prisoners. They were werewolves, their scent was like yours, but less pleasing to my nostrils...I would like to talk to them, do you think you could get in contact with them?"

Just then, there was a knock on the door, they looked at each other for a moment before Harper got up and went to the door. He opened it to see the faces of the people from the manor. The male stepped forward and took Harper's hand, shaking it vigorously and smiling. "I wished to thank you for saving my family. Even though you are a Vampire, I can see you are no enemy of our kind. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you and I thank my fellow sister. Should you have need of myself or my wife, please, do not hesitate to call." The father released Harper's hand, leaving a business card with a number on it. He smiled again and wished them a good day and closed the door. He looked towards Kathy and shrugged.

The rest of Carnevale was spent away from the festivities and instead partaking in the other pleasures of Venice. Spending each day on the riviera or walking the streets. They attended the finale of Carnevale before boarding a plane and heading home after a long vacation. He wasn't sure about her, but the whole ordeal with his father put Harper into a tired mood. There was a lot that was to happen, and now that one of Alucard's inner circle was killed, there would be repercussions...nasty ones.

Returning to a quiet compound was a huge weight off of Harper's shoulders as well. He was afraid that they would be returning to everything being set on fire. Stepping through the main gate, they saw the dogs playfully running about, having had no trespassers in a while was a good reason for Walter to let them off their leashes. They knew everybody in the compound, so there was no threat of them attacking anybody. Hand in hand, they came up to the manor door and pushed it open to immediately be greeted with several "Welcome back Harper and Kathy" greetings from the excited servants. The celebration was quick and was dismissed just as fast. Though Walter came up to them both and stopped them before they could leave to their own machinations. "Sir and madam...a letter addressed to you both...not a good one I'm afraid" There was a tension in Walter's voice as Harper took the letter and opened it, taking out a letter from an unknown sender. He talked as he read.

"To Matthew A. Harper and Katherine Dunham.

Harper. You have murdered a valued friend and ally that had captured several elusive Lycan that were to be transported to Castle Dracula and executed for their crimes against the Vampiric people. You released the guilty party, against the wishes of Vampire Lord Cesare Borgia. Because Cesare was your father, there are to be no reparations for his murder. But you released the Lycans and were seen having intimate relations with a suspected Lycan. You are now a disgrace to Vampire kind and are to be executed on sight.

You may escape a long, painful death by releasing the whereabouts of the Lycan family you released and transporting your Lycan lover to Castle Dracula. If you do this, your life will be spared and your status will be restored immediately and this whole ordeal will be forgotten. We will not have Lycans exist, they are a plague that must be eradicated. You have three days to reveal the locations of the Lycan family and deliver the Lycan Katherine Dunham to Castle Dracula to be executed. Afterwhich, Vampire Lord Vlad Tepes Dracule will personally meet you to discuss your further existence.

Harper closed the letter and handed it back to Walter. He sat down in a nearby chair and looked at the floor blankly, stroking his beard, lost in thought. He massaged the bridge of his nose for a moment before speaking, looking towards Kathy. "Fuck...I don't know what to do...There is no way I'm going to hand you over, nor hand over the other Werewolves...I'm not going to run and hide like a coward though..." Walter was silent as Harper sat. He too was without words. He couldn't even think of a way to counter Dracula. After a moment, a few servants came and took Harper's and Kathy's bags and took them away. A couple heading towards Kathy's home, others heading to Harper's room.
