"Welcome to the streets kid."
The Streets of Gotham have never been the safest of places. This dark city has always been recognized for its high crime rate and the ability to make people disappear, but perhaps what Gotham is most known for is being the home of the legendary Caped Crusader, the Batman. The Batman of course has always been a driving force behind Gotham, though there are those who argue that his presence there draws forth the escalation caused by his rogue gallery. There however are those who stand behind the Batman, officers willing to put their badges on the line for the Dark Knight, civilians who help in what way they can and of course there's his wide network of heroes that are all covered under his mantle. The Streets of Gotham may be on of the most dangerous places in the world, but the streets are where the stories happen.
These stories revolve around the people of Gotham, not just the Batman. The officers of Gotham, especially Commissioner James Gordon help to shape and define these streets. Leading the Major Crimes Unit and purging the Gotham City Police Department of corruption, James Gordon forged an unbreakable bond with the Batman and allowed his officers to be able to work even with the shadow of the Bat looming over them. Dr. Leslie Thompkins who runs a clinic willing to patch up anyone friend or foe alike as long as they obey her no violence rule. These people help to shape the Gotham that stands apart from other cities in the world.
Of course, Gotham is known for being home to numerous heroes outside of the Batman. Nightwing and Red Robin both make their home here and in the neighboring Blüdhaven. Huntress, Oracle and the other Birds of Prey run out of Gotham, the original Green Lantern Alan Scott even once made his home in Gotham City. Plenty of other heroes are known to come from here and reside within Gotham City's limits. These heroes too add into the stories told in Gotham.
But perhaps, even more than Batman himself it is the crime and the super villains that add the most to the story. The Clown Prince of Crime, the Joker and his Harley Quinn, the cold as ice Mister Freeze, the hotheaded Firefly, the crime lords Penguin and Black Mask. All these foes to trip up the Batman and yet some of them are even moved to his side every so often. The thief Catwoman has often come to the otherside of the fence and even Poison Ivy will play ball for the good guys at times.
These are the factors which shape the Streets of Gotham and bring out the stories from within the stone work. The real question is, what story is next to be told?

Okay so the idea I have here is an RP based in Gotham where the players are free to control any character they wish outside of Batman and Robin. Villain, hero, cop or civilian they are now in your hands to write a new chapter in Gotham. The catch here is that I do want canon characters to remain somewhat true to their history but I will allow you to do some of your own spin on them as well as combine elements from Post and Pre Reboot. Any citizen to Gotham is open to play except for Bruce Wayne and the current Robin, Damien Wayne (You are allowed Nightwing, Red Robin or Red Hood however). Batwoman is available, as is Oracle. I'm going to suggest that Cass Cain be Black Bat at this point and Steph Brown be Batgirl. I am open to people to argue otherwise, this is just my preference though. If we only have Cass and no Steph, then I will glady relinquish the cowl back to Cass. Or if we have both and the player who has Steph prefers to be Spoiler than once again Cass can have her cowl back.
I will allow original characters, however I would prefer that they not be Superheroes or Supervillains. If you want to make a crime boss or a cop that's awesome go for it. However I feel that Gotham has enough for everyone that if a canon character doesn't have what you're looking for than this isn't the RP for you. Now say by chance your cop is somehow taken under Nightwing's tutelage and they develop into a super hero in the IC well then that's a story worth being told.
Now the point of this interest check is do some primary recruiting and get a feel on what characters people wish to play as. That will determine how I start the actual In Character Thread and story. If someone chooses Black Mask, but no one chooses Penguin or Great White, I may have one of those characters start to set off a gang war which of course would draw the attention of our heroes. For now, I ask that everyone only make one character, however depending on how things go and the level of writers we get in here, I may allow everyone to have a secondary character. I also don't do a first come first serve kind of idea, I prefer to let people submit the CS and then decide, because sometimes you'll get two applications for the same character and the second one can be miles ahead of the first. I hope you all understand.
I'm going to post the CS Skeleton below,
HTML Code:
[B]Name:[/B] Their birth name or what's on their driver's license.
[B]Alias:[/B] For Heroes/Villains this is what they're known as, everyone else can just have a nickname here.
[B]Age:[/B] How old are they?
[B]Gender:[/B] Male or Female?
[B]Appearance[/B]: What do you look like?
[B]Personality:[/B] What are they like? What makes them tick?
[B]Profession:[/B] What is it that they do to make money?
[B]Skills:[/B] What are they good at, or can do with ease not including what they can do with their powers if they have any.
[B]Metahuman Abilities:[/B] Do they have any super powers or abilities that a regular human does not?
[B]History:[/B] Tell us about your background. Remember for canon characters this should be more or less the regular back story, however feel free to tweak it somewhat. I mean if you want Tim Drake and Steph Brown together go for it, as long as it doesn't interfere with another player. Want Harley with Ivy instead of the Joker, same kind of idea applies?
[B]Other:[/B] Anything not covered above you feel the need to mention?
[B]Writing Sample:[/B] Aiming for high casual, so please at least two to three paragraphs. Also please make it in the tone of your character and how you wish to play them. If I get two applications for the Joker this may determine which one I choose.
