I'm catching up on Marble Hornets and this:
Slender: The Arrival.
I want.

I don't like the fact that your person's shadow will be visible.
Fucking creepy
''Wow, I've never seen a talking mutt before. You know in a dog show, you'd definitely take first place.''
The original Slender I couldn't get into, no matter how hard I tried. Mainly because each session ended before I could get immersed in it, and the fact that you basically can't slip up at all past like page 4 or 5 without getting caught, so it just felt like there wasn't really any real suspense for me. Amnesia's the only game that's actually legitimately terrified me, and even then was playing for hours with the lights off and totally getting into it before it got me. I think I'm going to install it tonight, again.
But this new Slender game looks FANTASTIC. I am most definitely checking this out when it comes out, and hopefully I can scare myself again. I'm one of those guys who loves to do stuff to scare myself, but it takes a lot to get me. I feel like that guy who needs like 40 bucks of booze to get a buzz instead of the dude who starts feeling it after a couple glasses of whiskey.

Whoa, this game actually looks decent. I'll have to give it a try.
Dervish, I agree. The original Slender was boring as fuck. I could not take it seriously at all (as with most things) and this new one looks much better. I still don't expect it to scare me, but who knows. Maybe it'll cause me to jump a bit. Amnesia wasn't scary to me, and I'd be playing in the dark and everything... It was thought out well, I like the helpless aspect of it, but it's just not my type.
I assume it follows the same story line?
Amnesia didn't really get to me until the dungeons part, which for some reason, I'd been playing long enough and was SO sucked into the game that it was like a switch going off. The sound design for the game, I have to say, was top-friggin' notch.
But yeah, I think a big part of it is the helpless, unable to defend yourself bits that make it work. Games like Dead Space that people say are terrifying aren't really because you have REALLY effective means to defend yourself and a lot of ammunition. As long as you have a weapon, you're empowered. If it's like Amnesia, where your only defense is to run and hide, then it's a lot more freaky. It's a flight and fight response. If you have means to fight, and can drive yourself to do it, it's less fear and more determination. However, if you have no choice but to run, your body panics and your heart sounds pounding like crazy mad as it tries to drive you to escape harm. That's the difference between a creepy action game and an actually scary game.

I haven't played Dead Space. But yeah, weapons pretty much make all sense of fear null and switches on the serial killer "OMG KILL EVERYTHING CARTOON BLOOD YAY"
By the time I was in the dungeons in Amnesia, I was already so bored and frustrated with the man that kept getting dizzy and would occasionally black out because I was too lazy to light every freakin candle. Like seriously, blacking out is the WORST thing you can do. They will find you. And you will wake up somewhere worse. That's what I kept telling the dude, trying to get him to wake up haha
I do remember one part though that had my heart skip a beat. It was when I had to quickly get inside the wardrobe and close the door behind me and hide there. I heard the thing come into the room, and I was like, omgomg what if he looks in here, what if this door isn't closed all the way, I'm too afraid to check because what if I open it ugh. Then after it was gone I just sat there like... I think this is a trick. xD
Oh god Marble Hornets ;__; Scared me for weeks until I cowboyed the fuck up. XD
EDIT: Just watched the trailer. That game's going to give me nightmares. But it looks kind of good. Would not play alone though.
I have a Graphics Shop now. Graphics Shops are cool.
I run a roleplaying site too!
