Digimon Uprising: Continuance [RBY & Tobiax]

When the rp left off, the team had descended into the Alliance base and met Lieutenant Issac, so he could recruit Jordan to the cause, introduce another fighter, and assign a team leader.

As the rest of the team introduced themselves to Eliaksha - quite happily, it seemed, which was fortunate - Lieutenant Issac turned to the fidgeting young man. The final hero of the battle, who had managed to take down the troublesome Ogremon with a few well-placed moves. He had seen his resistance to following Jun down, had seen his challenge to Lily, had seen how Tarana had spoken to him as an old friend. Tarana's occasional slip of the tongue hinted she knew far more about digimon than the rest of the team, and if this young man was familiar with her, it certainly explained why he too would know so much about digimon. How they both knew so much would be for another day, once this young man was acclimated to the Alliance.

"I assume Ms. Airaldi explained the professional reasons you should join, Mr. ...." He let the sentence trail, waiting for the young man to finish it for him. He doubted that was the case, though on the off-chance she had, it'd save him some time. Maybe she'd already convinced him.

From the digivice, Dorumon could tell the commander was talking to Jordan. She glanced up at Tarana, who seemed more focused on her music. A sharp hiss caught her attention, and Tarana shut off her music to eavesdrop on the conversation.
    Current rps:
Tarana and Dorumon, the deathly sniper duo, Sonia and Abbie, the cheery digital wizards, and Takeshi and Tentomon, the reluctant warriors of Digimon: Uprising.
Valdi and V-mon, the dysfunctional partnership, and Jill and Flamemon, the pathological pair of Digimon - Digital Crash.
The actor Duskull and the amnesiac Butterfree of Pokemon - Species Screwery.
The fearsome Necrowisemon, the pacifist Marineangemon, the aggressive Piximon, the enigmatic Clockmon, the cheerful Kotemon, the overstressed Flybeemon, and the ever-peaceful Snowagumon of Digimon: The Parallel Visage.

He shrugged slightly, adjusting his jacket a bit as he turned away.
    "Takahito," he replied flatly.
He then looked down. This felt wrong. He was certainly out of place here. Why had he even come here? He felt as though every eye in the room was staring at him, as though they would soon find reason to shun him. It was probably for the best anyway.
    -----
From the recesses of the electronic device in the boy's pocket, a small voice rang out, 'Hello? You... your type seems familiar... similar to me...' the voice greeted the one which had hissed, hoping she would hear.

Issac nodded. He would start Takahito's file after this conversation. And once he had figured out what to do with the boy. He had a feeling the alpha team would... not be so charitable to his decision to include him within the organization so rapidly. Perhaps on the beta team. They still needed a member and could probably use his expertise. It might also let him feel more at ease, leading a new team.

"Mr. Takahito, I would like to extend a formal invitation to join the Alliance organization. If accepted, your Ryudamon will be registered as a friendly digimon and, as long as you check in daily for training and-or missions, you will receive a weekly paycheck. There may be later examinations to determine how you entered half-drive without an Alliance digivice, but such examinations will require your consent and you will be free to reject them. Will you accept?" He studied the young man, as though he could glean his thoughts with only a look.

    --

Dorumon glanced around, at first confused by the faint voice. She doubted the voice had been addressing anyone else - no one seemed to be reacting to it and, frankly, no one had said anything to merit the greeting. Well, then, who thought they had earned her attention?

"My kind has been linked to the Missing Knight, Alphamon. Or perhaps you mean I am an X-antibody digimon? You'll have to be more specific, I hardly know who I'm talking to after all. Why would I be similar?"

It wasn't as though she talked to the rest of the team frequently.

Slowly, Jordan lifted the device in his pocket. Looking at the yellow/orange case, but avoiding the silent screen, he paused, and took a breath. After a moment, he clutched the item to his chest, deep in thought. Returning the Dock to his pocket, he scoffed slightly.
"Sorry, but I don't think there's anything for me here, and I'm not interested in being anyone's lab rat," he replied, "If you think you can just... control Digimon any way you want... you have another thing coming."
As this went on, the dock's screen glowed softly, barely noticeable, but it wasn't like Jordan was actually looking.
    -----
The soft voice laughed lightly, 'Both,' the Digimon responded, 'That... and our physiology is similar. Isn't it... you and I,' there was a pause, then a deep breath, "We're like two sides of the same coin... or the same side of two different coins."

Issac raised an eyebrow but didn't respond right away. Interesting line of thought there. He wished he had heard exactly what had gone on up there where he had gotten that idea. This would be more difficult than he thought.

"Digimon here act of their own free will, I assure you. There is only one instance of a digimon and human being forcibly recruited, simply because it was the only method to keep the digimon mentally stable. He is still undergoing treatment. The digimon that are being 'controlled' are those that wish harm to humans, and you have to agree, the death of one digimon is not as awful as the damage even an unchecked Rookie can leave." His gaze briefly darted to the digivice at Jordan's side. "Even if you will not join, I will insist that your digimon is registered in the database. There is no way around that." While true, it would also buy him more time, if necessary. He could bring out the Tentomon as proof.

    --

"I'd say the latter is more accurate." Even if she couldn't see her conversational partner, she smiled sweetly, letting the effect trickle into her voice like sour honey. "There is hardly any being that could hope to compare itself to me and be right."

Jordan scoffed softly and turned his back farther from the commander.
"Collar the mad dog... not like I haven't heard that before," he muttered.
Sticking his hand in his pocket, he looked to the device, lifting it into view. Kyuusai wasn't there, but the small shed like graphic denoted that the Digimon was in a shelter, taking private time. He chuckled for a moment, only now realizing that there was true need for such a thing. Knowing no answer would come from the confined Ryudamon, he brought his gaze up, looking to Tarana. At the very least, she'd help him make sense of it.
    -----
Although it couldn't be seen, the Ryudamon's eyes narrowed. Something wasn't right... this Digimon wasn't as she appeared.
"I'm sure that's true," Kyusai replied with a slight giggle, "All Digimon are different, aren't they? Although... they're all the same, when you think about it..."

This wasn't going well. Tarana frowned. Apparently, Jordan needed more convincing, and unless she took a cheap shot, he was walking out and either would end up fighting the wild digimon on his own - and as good as he was, more than one would likely result in his death - or end up getting his partner killed by Alliance forces who simply saw a threat. Surely he'd understand what she was trying to do. She got up from her seat and walked past the others, stopping by Jordan. Issac had frowned, ready to try one last time, when he saw Tarana approach. She'd gotten him down here. Perhaps she'd know how to get him to stay.

"Well, we've heard that before, Jordan. Though maybe for once you could collar some ACTUAL mad dogs.*" Issac didn't quite understand the reference - had Jordan attempted defeating digimon on his own in the past? Maybe his Ryudamon had started as one of these 'mad dogs'? "Instead of just sitting back and letting them hurt other people. Or digimon."

    --

Dorumon chuckled, grin unceasing. "I thought that once too. Back when I was stupid." Before she even realized she technically counted as a digimon. "Some digimon are so far above others that comparing them to others would be...." She cast her mind about for an accurate comparison. "...like comparing a spider to the web it weaves. Only one is truly sentient."

*Implication being that Jordan or one of his lackeys had referred to Resistance members as such

Expecting a simple nod or glance if anything, Jordan was surprised when Tarana approached. Her response, however subtle, made his face go white. Being faced with a truth over which he couldn't fully get, his hand rapidly clenched, threatening to tear into his own skin.
"Fine," he replied after a long pause and a deep breath, "I'll do it, but I won't like it," he finally answered, not turning to look at the Commander.

    -----
Kyusai responded with a laugh that held a grain of wisdom, and little humor, "One would argue that neither are..." Ryudamon replied, then paused, "You're cold. You shouldn't be."

Issac nodded curtly - clearly, those words had more meaning than expected. However, it had been successful, and as long as Takahito was willing to stay, hopefully there would not be another need to invoke them.

"Glad to hear, Mr. Takahito. We'll have you assigned to a team right after registration - a few newbies who have never been around digimon before. Your experience will do them well." As he spoke, Tarana looked up at him.

"Commander, I thought he'd be on, well, my team."

"Your positions are all filled, and they need someone with experience. He's perfect." Tarana scowled, clearly annoyed by this turn of events. Had she known... Even with certain issues, she would still rather be around. Keep an eye out, keep him going as necessary. Bit more difficult if they weren't going to interact much.

    "Sir, I insist-"

    --

Dorumon chuckled at that statement. Bit obvious, really, but amusing. "Oh? And why not?"

Jordan shifted his eyes ever-so slightly, just barely looking at Commander Isac.
"We're on the same team... or I leave," Jordan answered, resolve in his voice.
Looking back to his hand, he saw the shed icon flashing slightly. Ryudamon would come back soon... what would he say? Could the Digimon even hear him from in there? Then, after a moment, he turned to the Commander, looking him dead in the eye.
"And I won't be in your papers. We do this off the books," he added.
    -----
Kyusai remained silent. The Digimon really didn't have anything to say anymore.
