    Here's a toast

Posting from my phone, so no link for you.... Just learned that an American KC-135 tanker crashed today in Kyrgyzstan. Crash is under investigation, no details yet; the plane was carrying three crewmembers, who are missing along with most of the front of the aircraft. Crew is presumed dead. Anyway the 135 community is fairly small, and there's a good chance I flew with one or more of these guys in the past; kinda freaked out for a second because one of my best friends from flight school is a copilot on the 135 from the base where the plane is assigned, but he's apparently cool.... Still. Thoughts and prayers and all that. Families are going through hell right now, give them a moment and a thought if you care to.

That's terrible. Sending all of my thoughts and prayers their way.

Shit. Doesn't bode well for the other crewmember either.

Let's keep up some hope that he's the one that ejected.

No ejection seats in the KC-135, or parachutes -- budget cuts, had to save money somewhere.

So budget cuts cost these guys their lives? It's nice to know lives are worth less than money...

So, naturally, they chose to save money on parachutes and ejector seats? I have never been more glad not to be in the military.

Just so you know, those budget cuts were used to fund the new medicare bill. C:
