I will point out, again, that there already is a second name. It's called Gridiron. Although it's usually left to the rougher games of football in which the rules tend to be overlooked, Gridiron is officially a term for American Football.
I would also like to draw attention to the fact that while your "Football" was indeed first, our "Football" was a derivative of it or rather a derivative of a derivative. A splinter took form in "Rugby Football" in which the rule that outlawed the use of hands was thrown out, and then from that game was derived the game that would eventually grow into our modern day "American Football". Why should it's name change just because rules change?
