Kendo (Japanese sword fighting sport)

Here's Kendo. I just got interested in Kendo and it seems to be fun.

The plot will revolve around Kendo having become a very important sport worldwide. In Japan a certain high school is almost having to be shut down, but a group of students form a Kendo club there even though all of the best kendo fighters go to other high schools that have world renowned kendo clubs. If they get a medal in the yearly national tournament then their school will not be shut down that year, but the competition is intense (most schools don't have to win or else be shut down, but winning a tournmant does get a lot of sponser money and recognition to the school to save it should it have been on the verge of being shut down). This will be the main plot for the first part of the roleplay. A sequel can also come about that has our club set their sights on winning the most elite worldwide tournament. Also, besides fighting scenes will be a lot of character development and stuff like that rather then having this only about the fight scenes.

Despite being mostly realistic, the best kendo fighters have special abilities that some consider to be magical in nature. For example, someone can see their opponents next move, some move super fast for one attack, some can get a second wind to go back to full endurance, etc. and practicing kendo brings our such abilities. There will be nothing like shooting fireballs, however. At most there can be a type of wind attack going along with a fast blow to push things backwards. Basically, because wind already occurs when you move fast it can kind of explain that move. However, creating and throwing fire doesn't have any real basis in reality like the other example. Not that seeing someone's next move in the future does, but whatever. For this roleplay the rules can be changed slightly to make battles even more intense. For example, more places on the body can be valid targets and grapples, kicks can also be valid. Basically, it's more like real sword fights and people are more likely to get hurt. There can also be some team battles with two vs. two. For a battle it may be fun to have entire groups of people fighting in a war-like scenario.

The club we'll be in could have both a boy and a girl team, but if there's not enough interest in one team then it may be dropped. Say here which team you'd be interested in (or both) so I'll know when making the OOC. You can have multiple characters, so if you want you can have a character on both teams or even more then one character on the same team. In tournaments there can only be 5 active participants on either team, but that doesn't mean more then 5 people can be on the team (they just won't fight in that battle). If you make more then one character on a team, you can only have one participating in any given tournament as to not take up space for other people (unless not enough characters would join otherwise).

I could do the girls team as well. We wouldn't need too many people if we just stuck to that one team. In fact, if it was just us three then two of us would need two characters, but that might not be too bad if you guys don't mind.
