The Backstory:
Spoiler
Hundreds of years ago, the Land of Burst used be ruled by a fair and just Republic, where all the people, from the poor who worked in the factories to the rich controlling corporations, had eqaul say. Balance within this government was maintained by the Burst Warriors Council, a group of elite Burst Warriors who not only kept the politicians in check, but also kept the creation and use of Burst Hearts in check.
But as history has shown the world countless times over, good things can never last. A man within the High Council of Burst Warriors-- Raeodin Khan --wished for more power than that which he already possessed. Using his connections within the very innerworkings of the Council, Raeodin soon came to possess the most powerful of all the created Burst Hearts-- Mewtwo. Using his new powers, he gained a group of followers and destroyed not only the council, but also the Republic itself. In the ashes he rebuilt an Empire with himself as Supreme King of the Land.
Years after his rise to power, a small band of rebels located in the city of Chatan, attempted to overthrow the king using the Power of the few salvaged Burst Hearts they could find. It had some initial success; until Raeodin himself entered the war. In his rage he killed all the rebels and razed the city of Chatan and the land around it, effectively annhilating the spirit of rebellion within the land.
It has been three hundred years since Raeodin's rise to the thrown, and a hundred and fifty years since the destruction of Chatan. Once again the embers of Rebellion are burning stronger. Citizens within the towns and cities have began armed insurrection against the empire using weapons ranging from guns to illegally obtained Burst Hearts. Not only does this point to signs of civl war, but also prevents Raeodin from achieving his ultimate goal: Finding and controlling the Arceus Burst Heart.
To avoid all out civil war, Raeodin has instituted several deterents. First is the enforced collection of any Burst Hearts that leak into the publics hands. These Burst Hearts are found using Burst Heart Scanners, which only the high ranking officers in the Empirial Army Have. The Empirial Army consists of normal soldiers and normal Pokemon Trainers; only the highest of officers (Colonels & Generals) have Burst Hearts. To assist in the collection of Burst Hearts, King Raeodin has also created the Kindred. The Kindred is an elite group of Empirial Burst Heart users that assist in the collection of Burst Hearts as well as being the Kings personal Body Guards. Not only that, but to further ensure that all the Burst Hearts are collected, Raeodin has hired mercenaries from the mysterious group known as Paradox to assist in collections.
At first, these collections went smoothely. But recently a new group known as Anti-Paradox has appeared, sabatoging the collections and stealing the collected Burst Hearts. Also there has been the emergance of the seemingly all poweful and monopolistic Don Enterprises. A company specializing in the manufacturing of everthing from bullets to bandages, led by the unscrupulous CEO Don Capone. Even more unsettling are the rumors of an unnamed Resistance on the rise preparing to strike against the Empire. This interferance and fast growing fears have only brought the nation closer to the brink of Civil War.
Sandiron
The hot desert wind howled across small city of Sandiron, stirring up the waves of the oasis that the city sat on the shores of. To the north, in the distance, shrouded by the sand and the shimmering heat, loomed a Imperial Military Base, its omnipotent eyes constantly watching the oil-dependant city. The base was bustling with activity. The day had finally come that all had been expecting: The sacking of Sandiron.
The underground of Sandiron had finally grown too large. Burst Heart weilding rebels had taken the majority within the common citizens, and whispers of insurrection could be heard even in the great capital of Garrosta. By the Imperial Order of the King himself, the Army, as well as batallions of Kindred and the mercenary party known as Paradox, would enter the city, round up any Burst Hearts, and kill any who resisted.
It was right before noon, the sun nearly at its highest point of the day, the heat bearing down upon the land. The large batallions of soldiers, all armed with weapons created by Don Enterprises, prepared for the battle.
"Sir," a Kindred soldier dressed in the desert colored Kevlar body armor said as he approached the Kindred Colonel. "The regiments are ready, on your order, we can proceed to Sandiron."
The Colonel, dressed in a similar garb, though with significantly more flashy badges and adornments to show his rank, nodded, and gathered his communicator to broadcast his orders to the commanders of the regiments. "Move out, I want this fast and clean. You know the orders, subdue the enemy. Any who resist are traitors and will be killed."
All around the orders were shouted, and as one massive unit of tanks, humvees, and foot soldiers, the army moved out to the terrified city to the south.

Reginald was about three miles out of Sandiron, speaking with his Burst, Renshu. Do you think the crops will sell well this year, Reg? Renshu asked, more to break the silence that had been lingering around them throughout their trek through the desert than to ask about the crops. I'd imagine that they will; thanks to your aiding with the irrigation, they've never looked better. Reginald leaned around on the ancient tractor's swiveling driver's chair, looking at the large cart of ripe, healthy vegetables that sat in the bed. Hmm... looks like we need to dust off the crops, Reginald noted as he spotted the cloud of dust that the tractor was kicking up over them. Let's get to work, he finished, and cluthced the deep purple Burst Heart that dangled from a leather strap around his neck. There was a quick flash, and when it faded, Reginald had changed, He was taller; his forearms and legs much thicker, and a purple color. His head was covered in an array of spikes, along with his now pointed, and a short tail followed behind him, likewise covered in spines. "Let's go," Renshu and Reginald spoke in unison. He jumped off of the tractor, and reached behind the seat to open the top of a large water tank they had installed behind it.. As he looked in at the near empty tank, he said, "It looks like this will be the last of the water. Huh, perfect again!" Reginald quickly raised his arms, causing the water to slosh out of the tank and onto the produce, soaking it and cleaning it of the sand that had fallen upon it during their travels. "A job well done," Reginald congratulated himself, and closed the tank lid.
As he was about to revert to human, Reginald felt strange. Something's wrong, Renshu thought to Reginald. Agreed, Reginald applied. Suddenly, the sand began to quake ever so slightly underneath his feet. Strange... the last time I felt the sand move like that was when we were marching towar- oh no! Reginald exclaimed, and began looking around wildly. It was then that he spotted it: a massive plume of dust rising in the distance, coming from the military base. "They're mobilizing the troops! We have to take cover!" Reginald said out loud. What about the Sandironians? Renshu asked, concerned. "They'll be ready. If we can see the cloud, so can they. We'll hide the tractor for now and wait it out." Without waiting for a reply, Reginald began to thrust his arms, and soon enough, the sand around them began to rise, covering the tractor and making it seem like any other dune. Now we head to the mountain, Renshu said, and Reginald agreed.
Ava as a member of the Imperial army marched towards Sandiron as one of the many officers on the advancing force, however she disagreed with what the king had commanded orders are orders.Speaking to her burst pokemon spheal"I think this is rather point less, after all what is so bad about citizens having burst hearts?". In response her giddy and very child-like burst pokemon spheal spoke in a very child-like voice"That talk will get you killed, and it's not pointless, what if a murderer got a hold of one?"giggling because he failed to realize how crazy he sounded(( her burst pokemon is named Biggelz)) "Biggelz, don't giggle after you talk about homicide, it makes you look crazy, anyway let's just stop talking, the time will go by faster" in response Biggelz replied "Oh you're no fun" and both remained silent whilst they went about their march.
"So, you yeem it Noridnas? Bit too warm for my sensibilities." A monster of a man stood chatting with a small time merchant. He paid no heed to the events around him. "Yeem it what you may, that does not change the koshma. My kaitachi for three skins of your finest leathers." The little merchant was quite insistent. One small leather for the kaitachi. Not even enough to sheath the blade.
"Eärnur. He may be trying to quishiik you. Stay coon. We can take our matta elsewhere."
Eärnur did not let on he heard a voice.
"Your koshma is too small. I will take my matta elsewhere. I surely can find a better koshma not far from here." Eärnur glared at the merchant. "It may be wise of you to close your matta soon. There is a nip in the air. A vootmott best not keep his matta in one place for long. Vootmotts never know when their koshmanna shall return for it."
Eärnur grabbed his kaitachi and made his way further out of the marketplace.
(OOC: Eärnur is not actually in Sandiron. He is in a nomadic marketplace in the area of Sandiron, however you would call that.)
In the clouds above Sandiron, a strange creature flew. He looked like (and, indeed, was) a cross between a human and a black Charizard. His keen eyes surveyed the ground below him as his black, scaly wings kept him aloft.
His name was Jason. At least, that was the human's name; the Charizard's name was simply 'Charizard.' His parents were rather non-creative in naming him, and he tended to use the name 'Charles.'
Jason hovered just below the cloud level, watching what appeared to be a large cloud of dust approached the city. Jason knew better, though. With the eyes of a dragon, he saw the minuscule figures of men marching over the desert to the small oasis city. He saw their weapons and armor glint in the bright sunlight. He knew that he would not stand by and let them take over the city. Sandiron had been his home until two years ago, when he had stumbled upon the Burst Heart containing Charles and been attacked by the Imperial soldiers. Since then, he had been searching for ways to help bring down the empire and restore justice to the Land of Burst. Now, he had a chance to defend his old home and strike against the Empire at the same time. You ready for this? he asked Charles. Of course I am, responded the Charizard. I've been ready for two years.
Jason smiled and flew down to the border, ready to defend the city.

Tobias was in his lab testing the limits of human survivability in a vacume with a "willing volunteer" when a man told him that the king requested his presence. Tobias sighed as he turned off the machine and the human, who was clutching his throat and starting to turn blue, began breathing again. "Can't deny the king, can I?" Tobias took off his viser and his gloves as he walked out of the lab. Within the next twenty minutes, he arrived at the king's meeting room. "Ahh....Tobias, just the one I needed." said the king as he walked to him, "I hear that your current experiments are going well. However, I have another task."
---------------------------------------------------
Ten minutes later, Tobias walked out of the room with a huge smile on his face. He rarely ever showed any emotions, but he was just given a task by the king that he had secretly been researching for a year now. Now, he had unlimited funding and official orders to design an artificial Burst Heart.
-----------------------------
Tobias quickly grabbed his field gear and walked to his new team. He was to be an official part of the Kindred now. He wasn't the leader, but he was still of high enough rank to give orders when he had to......
Zoran sat in the shade of an old abandoned building, the dusty wind ruffling up his puffy shirt and long, bandana covered hair. In his hands he held a half eaten hot dog; his lunch for the day. The day in Sandiron had been relatively uneventful. The nomadic merchants of the northern desert, outside the king's influence, had arrived with their foreign goods. A few criminals working the underground were caught, but overall there was nothing interesting to report. From the depths of his mind, Zoran heard a voice. It was a low, almost rocky voice.
"This town is pretty boring. We've spent far to long here without any action. I think it's time to leave." the voice said. It was the Aerodactyl hidden within Zoran's Burst Heart, which rested upon his leather belt
"I couldn't agree mo--" Zoran started, but was cut off. Suddenly, a loud alarm bell siren rang through the town. And immediatly the town seemed to galvanize into a new life. From all around it seemed people flooded the streets.
"Well, so much for no action." Zoran laughed to his Burst. "Guess it's time to get in on the action." Then he shot up, stuffing his hot dog into his mouth, and ran off into the crowd
Jonas stood poised on the mountain. The attack was about to begin.
"Screw it, Flint, those people need our help."
But-
"But nothing! There are probably plenty of Bursters among them, so maybe we won't be outgunned-wait, who's that?"
Jonas spotted a Nidoking Burst headed up the mountain. He waved and called out, "Hey! If you were going to kill me, you probably would've done that by now! So what's your business up here?"
The cloud of dust that was actually an army rapidly approached Sandiron. Just before they reached the borders, however, Jason flew down at them and let out a wide burst of flame, incinerating several men before ascending out of the range of ranged attacks. He did this several more times, feeling no remorse for the men he killed. Those men were in league with with the Empire, and therefore, they were scoundrels.
Suddenly, as he was pulling out of a dive, he felt a searing pain on his right wing. He'd been hit! Swearing, he turned towards the city and managed to angle his course so that he fell on top of a tall building. He scrambled behind a ventilation unit to protect himself from the bullets as he healed his wound.
