    Earth: The 9th Circle [IC]

    Interest Check here.

    OOC and CSes here.

The year is 2027. The world has been covered in radioactive snow and ice since 2012. People have moved to underground bases and cities. However, some brave soldiers have returned to the surface to try to restore their planet.
    ------

    [Summer 2027, Northern Manchuria, China]

"Socho! There is a few standing buildings up ahead! I think we can take shelter there!" Cpl. Takeda called to the unit leader. Akané sighed, audibly through her gas mask, and nodded. "Okay. We'll see if we can get warm up there. Move out."

Approaching the closest building, Akané noticed signs of life, such as footprints, shell casings, and blood in the snow. "Stay frosty guys, there could be enemies up ahead. Load your weapons and go with caution."

"Ha. Ha. Ha. Frosty. Ha. Ha. Ha. ...That was terrible, you know that, right?" Cpl. Takeda moaned.

"Quiet. Keep moving." Growled Akané, elbowing him as she moved up cautiously.

How often do you meet Miss Right?
Whom is so perfect. In all ways.
How many get to feel like I do?
When I say I love you.
    How many would stay idle?
    For such a short answer.
I would wait until time stood still.
Then I would wait even further.
    Waiting is easy.
When I wait for Miss Right.

Min Ho came to a sudden stop, eyes locked dead ahead. Something was different this time. He crouched low, moving his head down to inspect the snow. Seeing blood was nothing unusual, but this blood was fresh. Quickly he raised a hand in the air and made a quick gesture as he rose from the crouch. First he checked to his left; there was nothing to see. Then he checked his right. Min Ho turned and proceeded back the way he came, obscuring his tracks while he walked. This was no time to investigate, for all he knew the source of the blood was still around. Survival came before curiosity.

Hana let out a sigh of relief as she observed the hand signs from Min Ho down on the street. She would never admit it, but if he had gone much further he would be out of her sight range; flying blind was the last thing they wanted to do. Still, Hana remained prone, her eyes following Min Ho through the scope mounted on her gun. But now Hana was curious. What had Min Ho seen that made him so cautious? Under normal circumstances he went looking for danger. That curiosity was all that was on her mind as she watched Min Ho make his way back to their little hideout, constantly checking his blind spots for any sign of trouble.

"Hurry it up, Min Ho," she uttered under her breath, sighing as she watched him stumble in the snow. Hana took a breath and continued to watch, expecting the worst.

How dreamlike to see my x-sisters, outside the context of a Papa Song dome. They sang Papa Song’s Psalm, over and over; background hydraulics underbassed that sickening melody. But how jubilant they sounded! Their Investment was paid off. The voyage to Hawaii was under way, and their new life on Xultation would shortly begin... Watching them from the hangway, I envied their certainty about the future.

Maksim was freezing cold, that would've been funny if you asked him, because he's from a northern country, but here and now, thats what matters. He quickly shrugged snow off his suit, quickly replacing a filter for his gasmask. He stood to his feet, and made a few silent steps towards the corridor, nearly sunk in snow, he quickly took a shovel to take it out of the nearly destroyed, old corridor.

Maksim was cold, from the corridor, he turned left, to find a burning barrel, "Thats the way i like it." Maksim said to himself, darting his hands towards the fire, having a good sigh of relief when he had his feeling of warm, underground station. After some time, he decided to patrol again, he quickly went off towards the window, taking a good look of outside, he saw somebody, and that somebody is not their friends, he quickly burst towards the room, using a metal can with a string on it to alert his comrades "JAPANESE IS COMING!" he had spat out with his amateurish english. Quickly taking control of the turret in case of attack, but the stupid fog only made it hard for him.

The LT and Sgt stood over three bodies. They wore PLA uniforms and had each taken multiple shots to the torso. Both of the JGSDF soldiers had on their gas masks but their build was obviously feminine. The LT looked over towards a pair of motorcycles they had hid behind some rubble. The LT looked over towards the Sgt. "We should have another squad here before to long. Lets ride out see if we cannot find them." Her voice was muffled by the mask and the sound was followed shortly by the crunching of snow under booted feet as the two walked towards the bikes.

The convoy moved up a bit, the APC went to a full stop. Leon leaned forward a bit and looked forward towards the driver, through the small crawl shaft to the drivers seats. The driver nodded towards Leon and said in French "The commander want you to load off and secure the area." Leon nodded, they were here to set up a small outpost. A outpost on the surface to send out more troops and expeditions. It was not far from the underground city where they all dwelled nowadays. "Get ready, gas masks on. Weapon's raised, you see a human or something move. You shoot it on sight." He spoke loudly to his men, so that they would hear them over the sound of the roaring APC engine. He pulled the bag open that was hanging around his belt, taking out the M50 gas mask and placing it onto his face. So did the rest of the twelve men, he smiled slightly as the hatch opened in the back of the armoured vehicle. He could feel the cold blistering wind hit him like a brick wall, the overall made to resist the cold did little to protect him.

They moved out of the APC and set up a perimeter around the little convoy. It consisted of the APC with a gunner operated turret on it, and a truck with supplies and then a armoured vehicle in the end of the convoy. Leon pointed his finger up and then moved it forward, signalling the men to move out towards the old complex in front of them that was in total ruins. There was a part of the complex that was still roofed. The first floor had survived to a large part and was holding up as a kind of roof. Four of them moved in a column towards the building to secure it and the rest started to unload most of what was packed into the truck. He smiled to himself as he entered the building, it seemed to be clear to the most part. The ruins would be very defend able and no bandit would get anywhere close it, it would need special training to even get close to infiltrating the building.

It had gone about eight hours and the convoy had left to the most part, the fifteen soldiers that was suppose to stay and create the outpost was left there of course. The building had been read off with the radiation reader, and it was pretty much safe. Well they wouldn't get the effects of radiation poisoning until they had spent at least a good few weeks there. And by then they would have been replaced, and they had anti-radiation pills with them so they would be pretty safe. They had set up sand bags around in the openings of the ruins, and cleared up some of the rubble and established a small radio room. Machine guns and guards had been placed in the openings and the place was well guarded for now. The men would sleep under what used to be the lobby, that was still covered by a roof. It was beginning to look like a outpost actually.

Akané raised a hand and her comrades stopped moving. They'd heard the can being rattled.

"K'so, they might know we're here. Flank around and take up firing positions." She said to the other JSSDF troops. Her soldiers began to comply.

"Japanese is coming!" A Russian accented voice, speaking in broken English, floated across the snow field. "Okay, they definitely know we're here." Akané muttered.

Dima stood crouched in a rubbley part of the building, he hade his ghille ontop of his winter coat, which made him quite worm, he hade also his gasmask on. He stood crouched looking through the scope of his high caliber sniper which was pointed through a small hole in the wall of the building. Suddenly, just as Dima puts away his sniper and holds it across his torso and turns around. He hears one of his comrads rattling a can. Dima moved towards the sound when he then heard '' Japanese is coming! '' in the classicly broken english of the russians. Dima walked hastly towards the meeting hall where the food was served also where his comrade hade been rattling the can. As he entered the room he yelled out. '' What happen?! ''

Hana heard...something. She looked down and noticed Min Ho had heard something too. It was muffled, perhaps due to the distance, but someone was making noise. A warning, most likely. That confirmed one thing to Hana: she and Min Ho were no longer alone. She had expected that some curious wanderers would eventually make their way into the area, but Hana had no desire to get involved in a direct conflict, should the guests be hostile. Better plan of action: finish off the stragglers, then send Min Ho on a collection run. So it had gone ever since the pair decided to stick around here following the death of their prior squadron. Hana was on high alert now, making sure to watch her corners for any signs of intruders.

Min Ho heard what sounded like a scream and hurried towards Hana's and his hideout. No longer concerned with covering his tracks, he just wanted to wait for the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the situation.

"Who are we dealing with?" Min Ho asked as he plopped down next to Hana.

"I do not know. Stay quiet, do not give us away." With that, Hana continued to look through her scope. Next to her, Min Ho was listening for any sign of movement. Caution would carry them through this, as it had thus far.

A sound of yelling erupted in the quiet white wasteland. Lt Yagyu turned, her head looking this way and that as something about Japanese was shouted. They weren't being shot at so it must be someone else. She looked to SFC Honda speaking in a quiet voice. "Lets go we might have allies in trouble." They sprinted quickly through the snow their combat boots crunching heavily. As they got closer they made a path into a small concrete building of what used to be a garage. Its windows were small two foot ny two foot squares that had long since broken and fallen out. Sgt Honda set up a prone position by a garage door some old rotted tires obscuring her position. Lt Yagyu ran straight for one of the windows and poked her head up slowly. She was at a angle from Maskim and slid her M4 through the window loading a HE round into the 203 launcher. She gave Sgt Honda the hand signal for suppressing fire on that building when she made contact. Lt Yagyu turned her head and looked used the window sill to stabilize the weapon and arched the weapon and slid her hand up putting her finger around the 203 trigger. She slowly squeezed and the tell tell thunk of the grenade being launched sounded off. It sprawled through the air three spirals it was armed and then it was going down towards the turrets position. Sgt Honda immediately began letting loose bursts of fire at different openings with her FN MINIMI.
