Yeah I fell asleep towards the end of the movie.
I still enjoyed the animation, however.
"Oh, look at this, Tales From Earthsea, a Ghibli film I've never heard of before! Oh man, it looks pretty cool, dragon and all that shit, and if it's Ghibli it must be good."
*nearly two hours later...*
"Wait...I have no idea what the fuck just happened. Why did she turn into a dragon? Why did this dumbass kill his father at the beginning? What's up with the shadow, and who in the fuck is this Cob guy? WHAT ARE THE DRY LANDS?! NOTHING WAS EXPLAINED AT ALL!"
Waste of fucking time. Apparently, this was the first movie that Miyazaki's son directed. Shitty adaptation of a series of stories that even the author said was not like her writing.
Fucking terrible, man. I mean, it had a lot of potential, but the narrative was so murky and the the majority of the film was so fucking slow that by the time it was nearing the final ten minutes I found myself tapping my foot in anticipation of it just being over.

I find Spam's anime reviews helpful. Somehow you reach tons of stuff I consider checking out for Anime Club just in time to tell me that it's awful and I shouldn't bother, thus saving me the time of watching it myself.
Likewise, I also hear about quite a few titles that apparently are good enough to check out.
If you haven't read the Earthsea Quartet there is a SHITLOAD of material that doesn't come over well in film/animated format.
Secret world of Arrietty nearly put me to sleep. It probably would have been more thrilling for little kids though
Speaking of which you know the beginning where they're driving through all the woods to reach the house? My older sisters driveway and house are just like that! I wished my family watched Miyazaki film's so I could make the references and not look like an idiot
