Shakespeare's Baby Mama
"Oh drat," Blair scowled as he watched the scalding hot water from the now-overturned kettle soak into the carpet at the top of the stairs. He'd tripped on the last step and couldn't save the pot from falling, though thankfully he'd kept the rest of the tray steady. A glob of porridge had spilled out of the bowl onto the serving tray but hopefully his stepfather would be too distracted to notice.
Today was the day of their month-long holiday. After breakfast, Alistair and James would depart for London, leaving Lelouch and Blair to watch over the house in their absense. The blonde was ecstatic and yet absolutely dreading it. He loved the idea of a whole month with no threats hanging over his head, a month to do the chores as he saw fit and with plenty of time to spare for fun. But Lelouch was still a bit distant over the supposed marriage problem, they'd barely spoken the past couple days and Blair wondered if their renewed friendship would ever be acknowledged again. Blair didn't like it either, the thought of Lelouch getting married...he still couldn't picture it, the mere idea made him feel sick. Though he honestly couldn't think of why that was. Perhaps it was because he knew of his stepbrother's disinterest in women? He couldn't be happy married to one and Lele deserved to be happy. He deserved to marry for love.
Blair blushed almost the same shade of pink as his hair as he foggily remembered a fragment from his dreams the night before. An image of him in a flowing white dress, not unlike his nightshirt, spinning around a dancefloor in Lelouch's arms. He shook his head to clear it and stooped to pick up the tea kettle. He sighed, the water would dry before anyone noticed and he was going to be late with breakfast already, having to get a new pot of hot water. He hurried down the stairs towards the kitchen, hoping Alistair really was distracted and wouldn't give him a farewell beating before they left.
