VRMMORPG Idea(Still working on title, CLOSED)

Alright, so here's the VRMMORPG. Before we even start anything else, we need to establish the biggest part of this rp first.

WHAT IS THE VRMMORPG GONNA BE?

Since we don't even have a base for it other than Virtual Reality, we need to work out some ideas. Do we want steampunk/magic like .hack//? Do we want Medieval style like SAO? Do we want to do something focused on magic? Do we want to maybe reverse roles, and instead of having classes, we use monster races to determine skill sets? This is the biggest hump for setting up this rp.

i'm always down for a magic/steampunk mix. I think there's nothing cooler than having the option of swords AND guns.

also think a crafting system would be cool. nothing too crazy or anything, and we wouldn't have to focus the RP around it, but just how you can get cool new items. alchemizing things together, stuff like that--which I think is very steampunk-oriented.

I'm liking the sound of a medieval styled VR game. We could add in magic and stuff and make it like Skyrim. //shot xD
Other races would be quite interesting as well.

Well then we're at a cross road between you two. One wants steampunk, the other wants medieval. As Celowin suggested we could have both sword play and guns though to even it out. Of course the guns would be single shot rifles and maybe revolvers at most, making medieval weapons still viable. And we can also use magic as well.

I was thinking for races we'd use

Human: Obvious choice is obvious. This race would be tailored the most to the more steampunkish classes (gunners, saw weapons, etc.)

Cryptids: I used this race in a few other rps. Basically, they're animal people, having animals ears and better senses. This race would be more tailored to physical combat classes. (Regular steal weapons, thieves, etc.)

Runics: A race of humanoids with bodies made of armor/runes that hold magic essence. The runics are actually beings made entirely of mana, but their mana can control and manipulate physical husks, so basically walking armor and such. The race most tailored to magic classes (wizards, mages, etc.)

The next thing we want to establish is do we want classes per say, or do we want skills? What i mean by skills are that instead of leveling a character class level, we instead have them level skills like sword mastery and such. As they level their skills up more, they can use more abilities from that skill. It also allows more variations and experimentation, so we can see a sword using with magic to enhance to buff their stats, making them even stronger during combat.

I definitely like the races, and maybe it could be the most fun if we had one of each race as our main three! I'm not opposed to going strictly-medieval either, I just think it's harder to stay "in character" for our players that way, since they're naturally of a non-medieval world.

I like the idea of no strictly-defined class system, and using the modified stats and stuff that you suggested, P.S. maybe the characters have unofficial "titles", which could resemble classes, and are exchanged over the course of their journey as they accumulate skills and exp.

I like the idea where we use skills as well instead of classes. And I'm fine with both steampunk and medieval weapons. The races sound interesting so far, though I may play as a human like I always do //shot.

The skill system makes it seem a lot like skyrim. Since the characters level up their skills instead of their classes.

Alright, so no defined classes, but instead skills. Next then is to establish the world.

Since it's steampunk/medieval, I think maybe just using .hack//gu's setting might be the simplest. Not the same names and everything, but basically there are a few towns setup in similar ways, and then people quest outside the towns in dungeons and such. Each area has it's own area quest to do, and then you can take up small side quests as well. This will probably make up the majority of the first page or two we do for the IC.

Okay so small quests and such ^^ for the beginning.

Question, are we trapped in the game like in Sword Art Online? And I have no knowledge on Hack, would that in any way hinder the rp? If not then I'll be waiting for the CS

Also summer in a few more days. I'll pretty much have a lot of free time.

Not knowing .hack// don't hinder you, and I'm not sure if they'll be trapped or not. I actually think something different would work better, that way we can do some RL interactions as well. Which brings me to the last topic to address

Are our characters friends in real life, or they meet in the game first?

Hmm It'd be interesting if they knew each other in real life from the beginning. xD

Maybe one of them convinced the others to play?
