    Minecraft: The Survival Chapters (IC)

So, I guess you are all acquainted with the game 'Minecraft'?

Well, it's based off of it. So, if you know it, great. If you don't, ask me.

So, you basically spawn in a strange land, having no recollection of who you are or where you came from. All you know is primal instincts to survive, and how to speak. As you look around, you see trees, animals, plants, but no other people. You observe the surrounding landscape, with a few natural structures, like mountains and valleys. You walk around, hearing chicken, cows, pigs and the occasional sheep, because you know what they are for some reason. You walk around for a while until you get hungry. You walk some more, until you come across a tree full of apples. You pick them and eat until you are satisfied. After you are full, you see the sunset, and then, night time. You hear some strange and creepy noises, and the sound of something flying at you. You turn around quick enough to watch an arrow barely miss you and hit a nearby tree. Terrified, you start running for your life, coming to a cave. But when you get inside and try to block it up, tons of gravel falls onto the entrance. You are relieved, until you realize that was also your exit. Your eyes adjust to the dark, and you sit in a corner until you fall asleep. You wake up and immediately start digging the gravel aside to see a beautiful sunrise. Time to find some way to live.

Good beginning, right? That's basically the first night. For my character, at least. So, this RP will take place on your second day in the new world.

This is a fresh idea, but I think this will do just fine.

    The First Night:
Rhys's "first night" here was the same as they had been for the last few weeks now. He was losing the energy to wander as his large, iron body crumbled away, piece by piece. He sat, huddled, under a small oak tree, watching over a flock of sheep that he decided he would protect until he eroded away. He barely had the energy to go anywhere as it was, so he was conserving it now. He had given up on finding any humans anywhere. And this night was no different from the rest. There was no moon out tonight that he could see, but his eyes were dimming along with his build, and he could not see much farther than the animals he was watching over. He held a glass bottle between his fingers, and rotated it around and around, examining it once again for cracks. He moaned a long, loud, and mournful moan that could be heard over the plains. It conveyed only the saddest of feelings, and the reality of a lost hope. One of the lambs, only a couple months old, walked over to him now, bleating softly as it did so. The lamb's short wool was grey, and had one patch of white over the right eye. This patch made her different from the rest. Most of the other lambs refused to frolic with her, and so she would always end up alone in the field. Rhys had named her Charcoal, and had dedicated many long hours to feeding and caring for especially her. And so now as she tiredly walked over to him, he shifted himself to the right so she may have room to lay next to him. She put her face right next to his and bleated, smelled the air, and then she laid down, her back pressed against his corroding metal legs, and fell asleep. Rhys was unable to sleep, but he liked to pretend that he could. He closed his eyes and laid his head back against the tree and listened to the sounds of the night. Somewhere, he heard the twang of a bowstring, and thought nothing more of it. Skeletons were always getting into petty fights. So he sat there, unmoving, until dawn approached.

Darkness began to fall over the strange new land and the man slowly stirred from his unconscious state, getting to his feet and rubbing his head he looked around to try and work out where he was. "Ugh, what...What happened?" His hand moved lower down to his face where the texture of sand was apparent, he realised he was on a beach, after a minute the man turned and stepped back in disbelief. "Wh-What the?!" Large planks of wood were at his feet and continued up to the ruined body of a boat, a memory suddenly flashed into his mind. A black night, a grey sky, lighting bolts and finally a woman's voice shrieking a name, his name. 'Adam!' And then he was back on the beach, the sun had at last set and Adam began to move towards some trees. After about half an hour of walking he came across wet patch in the ground, as his shoes sank into it they made a horrible squelch which Adam tried his best to ignore it and press on. Eventually he stumbled across a small cave into the side of a hill which he took shelter in, as far as he could tell it was empty so he made himself as comfortable as possible and just watched the entrance until the light of day came.

((So, I guess we're all done with the "first night", then? In which case, I'll go ahead and begin the 2nd day. Well, it is a continuation of his first/second day period.))

Jivusa crawled out from under the crag of rock, carrying a piece of coal and a very old stick he picked up. He combined the two and made a small fire. When he lit it, he carried it around and finally set it where he thought to be the best place for a source of light. He went back to the small hole from earlier and mined more of the mineral; coal. When he got enough, he went outside and took down a tree with a wooden axe he had made not two hours ago. He carried the wood inside and made more torches, as well as some tools and some wood for other uses. When he finished, he went outside and built an entranceway with a door and a torch. He also went around the cave, lighting it up and filling in holes. When he got done, he went outside and started hunting, the sun drawing ever-so closer to the horizon. It was getting late. He gathered his spoils and set it inside of his small cave. He then crawled up to the top of the entranceway, and then the rock hill-mountain. He sat, sword by his side, and watched as the sun set, turning shades of blush, and finally set under the horizon, letting a pink sky become dark blue, dotted with stars. He finally climbed down to his entrance and went inside, lying down on the softer gravel and falling asleep.

A young man sits up from hours of being unconscious. He rubs the side of his head with his right hand, still slightly disoriented from whatever had happened, not being able to remember what transpired that led to him being in his current state. He slowly climbs to his feet, dusting himself off, and then looks around him. He appears to be in a tropical, jungle region, with large tall trees and vines hanging down everywhere. The man begins walking around to determine how he ended up there, but no matter how hard he tried, nothing comes to mind.

After some time walking through what felt like an endless jungle, the young man comes to a small creek running down a large hill. He drops to his knees, looking into the water to see his own reflection. He questions who he is, staring for a lengthy amount of time before a name comes to his mind,"...Albert...", he mutters silently. He says the name in his mind several times, convinced that it would be his name.

Albert then cups his hands together, dipping it into the creek to and bringing it to his mouth to take a small drink to quench his parched throat. He then stands up and looks up to the sky, and beyond the tree line he could see the sun setting on the horizon. He decides that shelter would be the best course of action, but didn't want to stray from the creek. So he ends up following it, and quickly comes to a small cavern. He walks inside, looking it over, and just when he is about to sit down a twang sound his heard and an arrow soars by his head. Albert quickly looks in the direction of the arrow, and see's a fast moving Skeleton approaching him. Without any thought or question to what it really was, he quickly leaves the cave.

Leaving to cave though, proved not much better. As Albert looks around and sees other creatures approaching from different directions. Panicking, he takes off in a random direction, running as fast as he can. He quickly come to a conclusion to get high up, as the creatures were slowly bearing down on him. And so he stops in his tracks, looks up and see's a vine in reach. He jumps up, but misses it landing on the ground. An arrow hits the ground beside him, moaning sounds from behind him are getting closer, and Albert starts panicking more than before. He jumps to his feet, bends his knees and jumps again, just barely catching hold of the vine. He then pulls himself up quickly, as he can hear the moaning sounds directly below him, too scared to look down, as well as having arrows from different directions zooming past his body, narrowly missing.

When he gets to the branches, he quickly starts climbing as high as he can. He reaches to utmost portion that he could get to and still maintain a foothold. He looks down around him to see if anything was around him, happily he saw nothing and the sounds were just barely audible. He begins to relax, catching his breathe, soon finding a way to position himself in a sitting position. Within an hour, he falls asleep, with only one thought running through his mind:

Rhys opened his eyes as dawn broke over the hillside. Charcoal had gotten up some time earlier in the night and was now feeding on a small patch of grass. He stood up, creaking the whole way. He counted the sheep. ...6...7...8... Good. They're all here, he thought to himself, I don't feel well enough to follow any strays. He looked around him, and saw only the trees and the hills, as he was used to. He walked to a nearby rose and picked it from the bottom of the stem. He held the scarlet flower up to his face and examined the petals as he walked back over to his tree. He reached out with his free hand and leaned on it, still examining the rose petals. I wish I was as beautiful as you. He sat back down, carefully so as not to damage his corroding body. This is how he spent every day now, just sitting under this tree and watching these sheep. Waiting for the sun to set and rise. Waiting for him to finally pass away with no one to repair him... Is this what I was made for? Is this why I was created?
He thought about this until night fell, the time only another blur in his ages of life. He had now closed his eyes, but only for a short while until he heard something encroaching upon the sheep's territory. He opened his eyes and looked in the direction of the noise, almost directly across the field from him. His vision may have been beginning to fail him, but he could easily make out the shape of a wolf in the taller grass. Why do these sheep insist on staying so close to the large-snow-hills? He stood up as quick as he could, seeing more of the wolf pack appear in the grass, the sheep still oblivious to their stealthy approach. Rhys moved closer to the flock, closer to Charcoal than the others. The wolves continued setting up their ambush as they began to spread in a circle around the field, staying as hidden as they could. There are more of them this time. They must be getting desperate. Rhys rolled his shoulders, a creak emitting from the motion, reminding him how worn out his iron frame has become. Maybe they'll just go away. Maybe they'll just leave...
They didn't. A wolf rushed out from the darkness, the moonlight shining on his fur as he sped inward. The rest broke right after, also sprinting in to the fray. They snarled and snapped, closing in too quickly. The sheep reacted quickly, but they could not do more than bleat loudly and run in small circles. Rhys no longer had time to think. He dashed forward to the closest wolf, intercepting its path, and swung his arms upward under the wolf's chin. He had sent it flying quite a few feet, and it laid still when it landed. But now he had momentum in that direction and his worn body did not possess the power or mobility to turn around very quickly. He stopped a few feet past where he had the struck the wolf, and wheeled around. He was too slow. The wolves were already upon the helpless flock of sheep. He dashed back into the small, panicking flock. They were already all too wounded to make it. Why are there so many of these damn wolves?! He swung wildly through the mob of confusion, sending wolves sprawling as he searched for Charcoal. He saw her being cornered by two wolves slowly across the field. She bleated desperately and attempted to move backwards, but this was only in vain as she was already backed against a wall. Rhys pushed his body to its very limits. He could have easily taken on the whole back had his body been in shape, but now, he would be lucky to save even one. He plowed directly through the wolf in the left, and reached his arms out to grab Charcoal up. The wolf lunged at her. Everything seemed to be happening in slow motion. He reached his arm out, the wolf opened his mouth wide.

Rhys snatched Charcoal up into his arms, the wolf's snapping teeth missing her by mere inches. Rhys spun and swept his arm in a wide arc, but the wolf jumped back in time to avoid it. They knew better than to try and fight him, but they were so hungry they were willing to risk themselves to get to the sheep. And they had. He was no longer able to protect them, and he lost them all. Well, almost all. He stared at the carnage, the wolves feeding mercilessly, ignoring Rhys as he turned to leave. I can't protect anything anymore. I have to keep Charcoal with me at all times. I will do my best to keep her alive until I pass. He lumbered away, his body creaking as he walked toward the nearby mountain range. We will be safer at the top of the not-frozen-big-hills, he reasoned. And it was in fact relatively safe on the mountain, so that's where he headed, Charcoal still trembling as he cradled her. He did not know if he could make it anywhere near the top, despite the fact that it was not a significantly large mountain. He approached the base, the huge formation looming over him. It was possibly the last obstacle he would ever face, but he would get Charcoal to safety. She was the last thing he now had to live for. So he began his trek up the side of the mountain, his legs creaking with every step, and he continued his ascent with two purposes. He would get Charcoal to the safest place he possibly could, and he would die protecting her. This is all that I have left. This is all that I can do.

Isabelle did not sleep on her first night. She peered through a gap in the door once, only to return to her huddled corner. She spent all night thinking about why she was here, who she was, all she could remember was her first name; Isabelle. Izzy.
It was getting light now though, and grasping her wooded axe carefully, she braved the dawns light. Izzy heard the cries of pain and death around her, and nearby she saw a skeletal creature. It was on fire, screaming. It was a horrifying sight, yet her her eyes remained fixed until it was no more.
Taking the time to look around she saw she was in a small clearing, a pool of water nearby, surrounded by forest. She could see a mountain in the distance. It was actually quite beautiful. Izzy turned around to her hurriedly built shelter, it wasn't exactly pretty, a small hut with one door. No windows. She concluded it would have to do for now and headed into the forest.
She came across some of the skeleton's remains, a few bones and an arrow that had been dropped. She resolved to pick these up later. Continuing through the forest, she tripped. Fell flat on her face. Groaning she turned to what made her fall. The train of her dress had caught on something and torn. "Why am I even wearing this thing?" she thought, picking up the torn fabric. Underneath, lay the thing that caused the fall, it was a pickaxe. Confused, Izzy looked around for it's owner; only to find a crater nearby. It was as if there had been an explosion. Rocks and debris lay everywhere, a few small pieces of coal were scattered among it. She quickly fashioned a makeshift satchel from her now torn and muddied dress and gathered up as much as she could carry, including the remains and arrow from the morning.
Night was approaching fast as she made it back to her wooden shelter. Another night of strange noises and fear. At least she could have a fire tonight though...

As the rays of the rising sun shine through the tree he found sanctuary in, Albert slowly opened his eyes. He lays there, not wanting to move. The events of the past day were racing through his mind. A strange land, filled with even stranger creatures, and having no recollection of how he got or even who he even is. After pondering the thoughts for some time, Albert felt the only way he would find any answers was to first find out just where he was.

He sits up, first looking down the length of the tree. He saw nothing, and breathes a sigh of relief. He reaches out his left leg to begin climbing down when a seering pain shot up body, and his gaze shoots to his leg. He sees dried blood around a ripped hole on the calf of his left leg. He sits back down and looks at it,"I guess one of them arrows did hit me.....Luckily just a graze..", he says quietly, now his thoughts shooting back to the boned archers that he was trying so hard to evade, and he once again questions where he is.

He quickly decides he really needs to get a move on, so he ignores his wound for the meantime and climbs down the tree. He quickly backtracks, finding his way back to the creek. He looks at hit reflection for a brief moment before walking over to a tree and rips a piece of the vine down, and a small leaf from a branch. He sits beside the creek, splashing water over his face and taking another drink. He then clean his wound and using the vine and leaf, comes up with a makeshift bandage.

"If I a going to survive, I need food and weapons."
, he says quietly to himself, with the cave he went into the past night coming into his sight.

He walks over to it, being wary of entering; but nevertheless, slowly does. He keeps one hand on the wall of the cave as he guilds his way into the ever growing darker cave. He continues walking when suddenly he feels the ground beneath him become loose. He slows down, and after taking an extra step nearly falls into a hole. Taken aback, he grips the wall and pulls himself back. He drops to his knees and peers over. He stares, wide eyed at a large, seemingly unending hole, seeing a faint glow of light at the bottom.

He stares at it for a moment, knowing that once again, he almost died in the strange place. He slides back, feeling the loose rocks underneath his hands. Pausing for a second, he runs his hands of the loose rocks, and with his sense of touch only manages to find a piece that is rather lengthy and sharp. He quickly makes he way out of the cave and back into the light.

Once into the light, he looks the piece of stone over in his hands,"Seems durable enough.", he thinks to himself about it. He then looks up at the trees, walking over to the closest one. Using the piece of stone, while being careful, he hacks away and gets a few piece of wood out of the side of a tree. With the pieces of wood, that he fashions some into sticks, the piece of stone, and some vines, he fashions his first tool: A stone pickaxe, albeit a rather weak one. He walks back into the cave, and uses it on the wall of the stone, in hopes of being able to get more pieces of stone. Which to his surprise he does!

He exits the cave, for a second time, and walks over to the tree that he was using. He places all his raw supplies and now worn out pickaxe, looking them over. Taking a few moments to decide what he next course of action should be, he bends down to reach for the pieces of wood. When suddenly he knees gives out and he falls to the ground. He takes a few moments to get up, looking around as everything becomes slightly disoriented, out of breath and energy.

"That's right....I haven't ate anything since waking up..", he thinks to himself. And after taking a few moments to gain his composure, he knew what his next course of action was: find food, and he knew exactly what he needed for it.

He takes a few pieces of stone and wood and fashions himself a sword. He stows all his raw materials in the tree he was taking from, and following the creek down the hill, begins his hunt. And it proves to be a quick hunt, as just a few minutes after looking, he comes across three pigs taking a sip from the creek.

He grips his sword tightly in the left hand, takes a deep breath, and then goes after his prey. He jumps down, hitting one to make a quick first kill. This startles to other two pigs and they take off in random directions. He wasn't about to let them get away, they were more than just needed for him to survive. He runs after one, cutting through the trees, and after a few minutes of a chase, that became quite circular, he manages to take down the second one. He drags it up to the other dead pig, and looks around for the third, no where in sight. He keeps quiet, hoping to hear anything; however, that proves futile and the third had survived to see another day.

He takes his sword and cuts through the pig, and manages to cut out a total of five servings total. He washes them off in the creek near him and looks them over. His vision and already lack of energy was really hitting him, he didn't have time to make a fire to cook them properly. He had to eat one now, raw, and he knew it. He swallows hard, taking a deep breath, and closing his eyes he sinks his teeth into one of the pieces of pork. He chews, with difficulty, and while holding back the urge to gag and spit it out, he manages to eat the one raw pork. He felt slightly better, regaining more of his composure, even with his stomach churning. He takes his other pieces back to his other supplies, and using some leaves and vines wraps the pieces up.

He looks up into the sky, the sun starting to set once again. Marking the end of Albert's second day in this mysterious jungle. He makes sure his raw supplies is stored nicely in the tree, then climbs back up to the perch he had used the previous night. It wasn't the best of places to choose in terms of comfort, but he knew he was safe there.

He lays there in the tree, closing his eyes as he hears the sounds of the strange creatures roaming the earth below him,"Tomorrow...Tomorrow, I set out for somewhere new..", became the last thought in his mind as he drifts to sleep.

Day break took a long time to come but at last the bright rays of light entered the mouth of the cave. "Oh thank god." He mumbled, relieved to finally be able to leave the cave, for the past 5 hours he'd been resting up against the rock wall watching the entrance and making sure that whatever was making the noises didn't enter. Climbing out of the cave and squinting in the bright light, Adam realised just how hungry he had become looking around he spotted an apple tree and hurried over to it before reaching a large red apple from a low hanging branch which he bit into. After gathering 3 more smaller apples and stashing them in his pockets he looked around and spotted a hill in the distance that he started to move towards, however as he moved closer he spotted that someone else had the same idea as a tall figure was making its way up the side and appeared to be carrying something. "Hey! Hello?! Over here!" He yelled in a futile attempt to get the person's attention. "Damn, can't hear me." He mumbled before running in the direction of the hill, whoever this person was they were alive and Adam prayed they were friendly.

((Everybody posted 2nd day actions so I'm moving to 3rd?))

Charcoal bleated wildly. She was becoming restless and hungry, but there was not much for her to eat here. Dawn had risen and Rhys had not made it very far up the mountain, despite trekking all night. Keep going. Keep going. He petted Charcoal in an attempt to calm her down, and after seeing it was futile, he set her down so she could snack on whatever small patches of grass there were nearby. After watching for a second to make sure she didn't rush off, Rhys sat down on the ground, his legs nearly collapsing from his weight. He began to trace his finger in the hard dirt, but his shaking hands only etched what looked like a ovular scribble. He wiped away the drawing with three of his fingers, leaving a long, large imprint of them in the rough ground directly in the center of the trail. Charcoal returned from feeding and happily clambered onto Rhys, causing him to smile, the rust of his face cracking as he did. He pet her for a minute and then hoisted her back into his arms, cradling her as he continued his arduous walk. The sun was shining bright now, reflecting off the still-metallic parts of his iron frame. He had only one thing to do now, and he would not stop here. He would not give up until he got as close to the top of this mountain as he possibly could. So he walked, slowly but surely, he walked, groaning and creaking all the way.
