    Twin Magic

This next one is not an original idea of mine, but it doesn't fit into any fandom, so I'm leaving it right here in the meantime. This idea was crafted by the lovely member Promise, with a few tweaks of my own. The core idea is all them, though.

"Twin Magic" takes place in a fantasy world were there are witches and dragons. Dragons can work any way we want them to, but witches are a little different in this world. With every set of twins is one Witch and one Catalyst. The Witch has inherent magical abilities which she can hone with training. The Catalyst is able to strengthen the spells of other witches just with his or her presence. And when a witch feeds off their own twin's power, they are able to do fantastic things together.

A witch can do magic on her own, of course. And catalyst's blood can be used for potions and alchemical spells. In fact, there were stories of the old days, when catalysts would be hunted down for and killed for their blood, about how the other sibling's magic went mad and dangerous when they former died. This was, of course, before magic of all types was made illegal. It just so happens that, at this time, in this land, there is much fear and suspicion regarding those who can perform magic. If a woman is known to have given birth to twins, often the mother and both babies are burned at the stake, if the parents don't flee the country first.

This is the environment your character grew up in. Your character will be a twin- a witch, as it so happens. But when you were born, in order to protect you, your parents separated you- one taking you, and one taking your brother/sister. As you grew up, you realized at an early age you could do things other children couldn't, but your parents impressed upon you the need not to reveal your powers, so you stifled them.

Years later, in your adult life, suddenly the magic come out. It starts acting crazy and doing things you don't want it to do. And before you know it, you are discovered as a witch, and on the run for your life. In your flight, you come across a dragon. You are amazed you can understand him. He claims to recognize you, and he pleads for your help- but you've never seen a dragon in your life! What on earth is going on?

Alright, I've bet you've already guessed some of the plot. I'm the dragon cause I'm awezum.

    1. Make your character and their twin whatever gender you want.

    2. There are two ways we can go about this. I can reveal the plot to you, giving you more control over plot twists and so on later, or I can sort of reveal plot elements as they come along. Not saying there will be like, these mind blowing twists, but sometimes it can be fun not to know everything strait out.

    3. I'm putting an advanced tag here, so please use proper punctuation, spelling and so forth- you know, stuff that shouldn't even need to be said.

I look forward to chatting with you all!

I must say I'm interested in this, despite not being a huge fan of dragons in roleplays. It's an interesting take on a fantasy idea by adding necessary roles for people as well as adding some element of dystopian feelings with the forbidding of magic overall. I do have two questions at the moment: How does magic work for the witch? (Is it spells, incantations, utilized through just your body or do you need an item?) Is the dragon the other twin, assuming you will play other sibling anyway? I'd probably like to know your direction and idea now so I can help add to the future twists myself and perhaps give some cool input of my own. Of course I could just be getting ahead of myself here.

Hey, Genkai! I feel I haven't talked for like...I don't know. Years. What a bast from the past!

Ah, well, the way I see it, we can figure that out as we go along. It is your character so I want you to be comfortable with it. We do know that the presence of the catalyst does strengthen the witch's magic, whether it's just them standing there, being supportive, or their blood. We also know the your character has not been using their powers. If it is a natural thing for them to come out, their parents probably stifled their usage, perhaps punishing this character when magic did reveal itself or threatening them. I think spells, or at least some guidance with what you're doing, would help people shape the magic into something useful, but that's just me thinking out loud.

Actually, the dragon is someone who was cursed using the blood of your twin, to whom something rather nasty happened to. Not going to give much more away here, but if you want to do this, I'll PM you with the plot. It really looks like I have a lot laid down to begin with, but I really just have some pretty wide tent poles. The world can still be invented as we go along and we can explore this relationship of witches to their twins and so on.

I know! It's been a while, I still remember your old name too.

I have a few ideas as to how I think I'll have magic work. I think the best way or at least the most supporting usefulness, would be to have the twin use their blood or be supportive in some kind "alchemical" (with their blood?) or something like that. Since their blood is treasured and of course vital to their own health, it should be used somehow in battle, otherwise it does lose its significance.

Alright, I was just a bit confused there. (not sure if the dragon was the brother in disguise or what) So the dragon in the beginning will act as a sort of tool to bring the two siblings back together and to perhaps solve whatever is ailing it or those around it? That sort of quest-like notion? If you'd like to PM me the plot, by all means. I'm fine with us co-creating the world and surroundings as we go along, I'd feel more uneasy if you had too much planned, for example, and I couldn't really live up to whatever vision you may have. I find that to be sometimes a hard hurdle for people if one person has pre-planned too much. Or wants to RP an idea for a novel as it just goes awry.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I don't want to have a plot that's so specific that the other person has to jump whenever I say or the story doesn't work. Anyway, my mind is a little elsewhere, but I will PM you sometime tonight probably.
