Three years ago, I was told of an 'unfortunate accident'.

They said they needed help with some simple tests.
I went with them. I didn't know any better; I needed help.

A viral vaccine gone wrong caused unbelievable side effects.

Some reported strange visions, excelled hearing, boundless energy.... As these people came for help, they were redirected to a place call the Compound.
They ran crazy tests, and concluded that they couldn't fix us.
So they decided to use us.
When they told us we were being arrested for god-knows-what, we protested. They gave this to us!
They said it was uncontrollable. We said that we were still human. They didn't care.

We were scared.
We were confused.
We were trapped.
But we remained uncontrollable.

We've broken out of the compound, but no one knows what to do now.

The plan for now? Don't get caught. You don't wanna go back there.
Right now, we're mixed in with the city. Ah, New York. The perfect place to hide in plan sight.

I'll tell you our little 'code of conduct'.

A) Don't get caught. And if you do, don't grass on the rest of us.
B) Keep your power, mutation, whatever-the-heck-you-wanna-call-them away from the public!
C)To betray one is to betray all. You might not like it, but we're in this together

Mia – 15 year old girl with long, curly blonde hair and light blue eyes. She can see through anything that's not made of rubber. Has a twin brother, Riley.

Riley - 15 year old boy with a messy head of blonde curls and dark blue eyes. He can control electricity. Touching rubber makes him sick. He has a twin sister, Mia.

Varden - 18 year old. He has intense blue eyes, longish dark blonde hair, and a short cropped beard. His power causes Mind Manipulation/Hallucinogenic effects, but the person he affects must be within line of sight.

James Hunter - 16 year old boy. He has short brown hair, hazel eyes, and slightly tanned skin. He also has a burn scar running from just below his right eye all the way down to his left ankle. He can talk to machines. He has a crush on Mia.

Emerald 'Em' Davis - 15 year old girl. She has an olive skin tone and a smooth, delicate face outlined by her wavy chocolate hair that falls to elbow. Her eyes are bright, emerald green. Elemental Manipulation is her power. She must be touching or very near the element of her choice to use it. She has a crush on Riley.

James looked at the others, before looking down at a GPS he'd snagged off of a car that had its window down. He told it "Find our current location." It brought up right where they were.

Riley sat at the table in the back room of the library, across from Mia. "You blinked." He said.
"That's cheating." Mia complained, "You zapped me."
"You're just a sore loser." He teased.
"I'm going to scribble on your face when your asleep tonight."

James went over to Riley and Mia. "Here's where we are currently," he said, showing them the GPS. "Where do you think we should go from here?"

"Up!" said Varden, whimsically. "There's always time to go up. You never want to go down. Bad things go down, when you go down."

The tall youth's eyes belied his state, but his smile put everyone at ease. These were his fiends. Friends. Not fiends. There were fiends though, oh yes. Everywhere.

"Fiends! Friends, I mean!"

"Is there a zoo anywhere?" Riley asked, "I wanna go to the zoo."
"Shut up." Mia told him. She look at the GPS blankly for a moment. "We need somewhere to stay." She said

Em returned from the store where she bought clothes to help everyone fit in. She had already changed into her's and she tossed everyone elses theirs.

Riley looked over and Varden. Up? he wondered.

Varden looked at his companions contently.

"Up. There's an abandoned apartment. Up. There." He pointed above them to a balcony. Sure enough, there was an apartment that had the looks of recent abandonment. He then saw a snake fly out of the doorway. He shook his head, clenching his eyes shut. When he opened them, the serpent was gone. Not real.
