But, the fact of the matter is Tibet has belonged to China since the 1700s, so it's not like Tibet was always independent and China decided to say "Fuck you" and go Poland '39-style on them.

The point was that China has tried to alter the records to make it look like Tibet was always a part of China.
Which is a lie, the fact being it hasn't.
So even if what you are saying is a fact, like Tibet's claims it wasn't always a part of China, it doesn't mean bad things aren't going to happen to you.
