    Journey to Carus OOC

You accompany a travelling caravan and its passengers as they cross the Plains of Amura: a vast stretch of wilderness between the river Helein to the east, and the rolling hills and valleys to the west that make up the trade kingdom Darnadel. You are already a long way from home, wherever that may be, and the road ahead is anything but pleasant.

Regardless of why you follow the caravan on this journey, you and your fellow travellers all share the common goal to cross the plains alive.

    The Journey
You set off with whatever provisions you can carry on your back, or on your mount should you have one. Not all can travel on the caravan, so some of the company ride alongside. The journey begins at the market village of Rothford, where all journeymen meet at the inn before setting off for the Plains.

You'll have some time to chat and conspire with your companions at the inn, and may want to get to know one another over a few rounds of ale before departing first thing in the morning.

    Character sheets:

    Name:
race: (elves, dwarves or humans. Here, all share the same lifespan and are mortal. Elves and dwarves don't have any kind of special powers.)
    gender:
age: (a sensible age, if you please. We wouldn't really last long with a group made up of only young teenagers embarking upon perilous journies, and the races here all tend to live to about eighty if they're lucky. An exact number isn't necessary here.)
personality: (what is your character like? What are their strengths and weaknesses? How do they interact with people?)
Appearance: (How do they look? what do they wear? What's their most noticeable feature? Note that they can't have super-powerful enchanted weapons and armour without explaining how they got it first, nor can they be the most beautiful creature to ever walk the earth. Nobody likes a Mary-Sue, basically.)
Occupation: (eg, a farmer, a guardsman, a minstrel... one to three words will do here. We don't want to know all there is to know about your character's life as of yet, but if there are any important facts about them that may be relevant later in the story, then PM me with them.)
Why are they following the caravan? (Please, no more than a sentence here. PM me with intricate details about their past and motives if you like, but other players don't need to know just yet and if you want you can tell them in-character when we are roleplaying.)

    Name: 'Darkwolf'
race: Presumed Human although he could be another humanoid race
    gender: Male
    age: 28
personality: Darkwolf is usually silent and rarely sleeps as he is often paranoid. When he does speak it is in a gruff, low voice that usually speaks about things of burden or enemies. He generally doesn't get on well with people no matter their race but he does get on well with some animals, mainly dogs, wolves and bears. He is rather strong in body, will and in mind. Although while strong this means his movement is restricted, mostly by the massive battleaxe he carries around constantly.
    Appearance:
    Occupation: Barbarian
Why are they following the caravan?: He has pelts and meat to sell. He also has to find a potion brewer for a hunting potion.

Are we allowed to have mages, though?

Yes, I should think so. Studying magic doesn't mean that mages are ultra-powerful, and only the best mages would have power enough to be over-advantageous to the company.

BigBullCrocker, I'd prefer it if OC's only were used here.

It is technically an original character but uses a reference from LOTR so I can see why it wouldn't work. :U

And I suppose I'll be making a sorcerer then. :3

Maybe. Maybe not. I'll see how I feel about it.

Depends on how Slimesworth has made Necromancers in his world. Necromancy tends to be a perversion of life and death so it may not be seen as a very respectable school of magic, perhaps not even accepted.

    Uhh.. fair enough.
What about an enchanter? You know.. adding an effect to something, such as giving an animal the ability to speak, or causing the land to grow plants at an alarming rate, or cause someone to have an irresistible charm to all who lay eyes on them. In contrast, they can't shoot a fireball at someone, or lay a death curse/heal someone directly.. So, in other words, they have to manipulate their environment to achieve their ends.
