Utopia - Interest and ideas welcome!

Okay so I've had a budding idea in my head for a while now, though it still needs work to be worthwhile I think. I'm looking to see if anyone would be interested in this sort of plot, and of anyone has anything they think would be beneficial to the story. I would like this to be at a casual level.

Below is a basic plot outline for the story, though I have a bit more already written out, I think this is enough to test the interest. Ask me any questions you might have, and I'll try to answer promptly.

Plot:
A band of influential politicians create a sort of utopia on a man made island in the pacific ocean. Secluded from the rest of society, and made to embrace a more natural way of life. Once a person enters the nation they are not allowed to leave, and minors or those born there are given a choice at their 18th birthday, leave or stay for the rest of their lives. Electronics and modern tools are forbidden, the inhabitants must live as one with nature. Players would begin as either new arrivals or people who have lived in Utopia and have just made the coming of age choice to remain there.

Thank you for the interest, and to Barios, I'm not exactly sure. That's what I meant by it needs work.

One idea was that the dying earth outside was actually done on purpose by a hidden society that thought humans were killing their home. So Utopia was created to shelter the select individuals who could embrace a natural way of living while the rest of the world dies off. Perhaps once the island is fully populated, nukes or other warfare will begin outside the dome that surrounds the nation, to destroy those who were unwilling to return to an age without our inventions.

But even that idea needs work and is more of a rambling at this point.

That sounds cool, are you thinking of keeping the characters to be only human or other types or races that could influence why Utopia had to be created? like the humans made a type of AI which was not accepted by this hidden society?

I had planned to keep it all humans, the whole "Humans are destroying the world" idea. Lol. Although slightly gifted humans might be an interesting addition.

If we went with my plot idea, it would be a group of extremists or something, plotted the world ending to revert the world to a less destructive path. But their way of going about it was to create Utopia, and bring the end to those remaining outside. Thus purifying the world to start anew. The plot would be, somehow information leaked, or one of the extremest's grew soft, and ratted out their plan, trying to stop them before they kill every remaining member of the modern society.

I was implying that humans went to far in technological advancements which in turn the hidden society decided the humans where destroying the world.

Hmm that is interesting as well. ^_^ I'd welcome the idea, as long as others interested like it as well. ^_^

So you're talking along the lines of Artificial Intelligence, advanced tech that the Society deems harmful to humanity?
