    New Salem Gothic

    The Witch Scare
It is an alternate Earth, in the year 1692. The Salem Witch Trials have begun. . . only this time Salem is a large town of 4,000 inhabitants. Many more innocents are in danger of trial, torture and death. Eventually, much of the village may be empty, with empty dwellings.

Currently, you are either an exceptional Human or supernatural being capable of great feats. However, you can tell there is something with incredible evil power terrorizing the people of Salem. A few scan miles to the north, there is a Manor, some say a Haunted manor, of the late Sir Ronald Collins. He died childless and alone at the old age of seventy five. Some whisper he was murdered with poison or some curse.

You have all received a letter from a messenger bearing harsh threats and a demand to come to his Manor at midnight tonite.

Matthias dismounted from his fine stallion and glanced up at the mansion before him, the letter in his pocked burned as if living coal, how dared whoever was waiting for him in there send him such threats? Matthias mostly wanted to just walk away, however that was not easy with the content of the letter and he also wanted to know who had sent it. The witch hunter tied his horse to a tree and patted the animal's back, he preferred to keep his horse here, some distance from the mansion to lessen the chance that the animal would be led away leaving him with a very reduced chance to escape if he should need it, perhaps here there was a chance none would find his fine animal. Matthias sigh then with one hand on his sword he begun to walk up towards the mansion, once there he knocked on the heavy doors. Matthias was not in a good mood, this was foolishness, he should be out doing God's work not answering threats and blackmail, this would end now and whoever had sent these letters would learn what happened when one angered a righteous man, Matthias would be sure to put the fear of God in him.

The sixteen year old girl exited the carriage, tipping the man and stepping out. The wind caused her golden curls to dance as she approached the mansion. She didn't want to come here, but the contents of the letter was indeed unsettling. A man stood at the door, why was he here? Did he also receive a notice from the anonymous persona? She took a deep breath and stood slightly behind him, looking at the ground. He looked somewhat frightening and she wasn't about to make eye contact...I wonder what he is doing here? Amelia hoped that he wouldn't look down on her because she was here.

Pamela arrived on her black mare, slowing as she reached the mansion. A young girl was exiting a coach and there was a tall man at the door. Maybe she should go back, this wasn't safe at at all....but the note. If she didn't go her secret might get out. She ironically tied her horse only a short distance away from Matthias' but she didn't notice it. She didn't climb up the steps and for good reason, she had on odd feeling about this man, and why was such a young girl here? Other then being nice to look at she didn't seem old enough to do much more then get married and nothing about her seemed threatening at all; the complete opposite of the male. Were they together? No she arrived separately. The witch coughed in order to make her presence known and the blonde looked back, a bit startled from the sound.

The door to the massive estate slowly opens. All of you are Unsure of what awaits within, a ghastly figure stands in the door way, beckoning for you to come in. All of you. "The others may come in due time. Meanwhile, help your'self to something sumptueous during your stay. I have prepared a meal for my guests as surely as I knew you would come."

Amelia was a bit frightened by the strangers appearance, it just wasn't...normal. But she wasn't about to cower in fear, biting her lower lip she was the first to step inside. If this man meant what she assumed he had written in the letter then it would be best to get this done and over with. She looked back to see Pamela was directly behind her even though she was eyeing the tall man.

Pamela finally realized who this man was, and her being here but the woman at serious risk. He was the witch hunter, Matthias, and he had recently caught another woman she worked with. Would he recognize her? The fact that she was here made her more suspicious then ever. She looked straight ahead, hoping he wouldn't remember her. The inside was well kept, she expected cobwebs and dust but it was surprisingly clean.

Meanwhile, outside the Collins Estate, came Siegfried. He walked leisurely towards the Estate, since he had made haste all the way from Providence in order to reach this place in time, he came a little early. He rested a few moments out in the open before finally making his way to the Manor. He looked inside, noting the door was open, and seeing a couple of women. He saw what appeared to be a somewhat older man thinking about whether or not to get inside. He went over the old man to greet him. He spoke with a German accent. "Hallo."

Aldric had opted to take his own horse to the estate. The horse was one of fine pedigree, and he was well taken care of. It's coat was chestnut in color, and most of the time very calm in nature. However, the old building seemed to have an adverse effect on the stallion, and made the horse rather jumpy. After patting the side of his horse's neck and calming him, he hesitantly prodded the horse forward, dismounting the stallion not far from the estate and tying him up to a tree to make sure he wouldn't wander off. He didn't know why he was here, but the letter that he had received requested his presence, and it had threatened him with revealing his secret if he did not show. He wasn't about to let it get out and endanger his or Iris's life like that. Speaking of the fae...

"That the place?" She asked. Her voice was sweet and melodic, and any could tell it was not human just from simply hearing it. He cast a glance over to the small ball of dark purple light that had taken it's place next to him. The ball of light wouldn't be noticeable to most other people who weren't magically inclined.

"Indeed." He said turning his gaze to the building. He saw a few other people already here, apparently the two of them weren't going to be the only ones here attending this little party. They were still to far away to make out any specifics though. The ball of light faded and was replaced by a small female humanoid looking figure that couldn't be more than a few inches tall. She had beautiful butterfly wings and it was obvious she was one of the fae folk that inhabited the surrounding area. She lighted upon Aldric's shoulder and looked at the building with a slight hint of worry.

"I don't like it." She said simply. Something about it just felt wrong to her. "Why did we come here again?" She asked her human friend.

"If we don't someone is going to expose our secret." He said as he casually walked up to the estate, noting two women and two other men besides himself. Iris sighed and folded her arms across her chest. "Why don't we just kill them and be done with it?"
"We have to find out who sent the letter first." He said and stopped where he stood, just out of earshot of the others. "Then I can decide whether or not I want them dead." he added with a serious look over to the fae. "I suggest you hide yourself, I'd rather your presence remain relatively hidden to our friends here." She gave a huff of disappointment, but complied, the ball of purple light disappeared somewhere in his bag and he resumed his approach towards the estate.

He approached the others with a friendly smile and spoke a general greeting. "Hello friends." He added with a small nod of his head towards all of the other people here. "Curious day isn't it? I wonder why we all would have been called here?" He didn't wait for an answer though, and pushed past the others so he could get inside of the mansion.

Pamela retreated to a dark corner, hoping that no one would notice her. She kept a weary eye on him, as well as the strangers who had just entered the building.
One of them was accompanied by some species of pixie, was he here for that? The pixie might have noticed her watching.

Amelia couldn't see the fairy, in fact she leaned against the wall and awkwardly looked around. She regretted coming now, at least there was another woman here. She walked over to Pamela. "May I stand with you. I don't know anyone here..."
Pamela looked the girl over, "I suppose." They stood in the corner and waited patiently for the host to tell them what they needed to do.

Matthias tipped his had to the two women he met at the door to the mansion, it was good for a Christian to be polite, he did wonder what two females would have to do with the dark things that obviously surrounded this place though and his suspicions grew. Matthias glanced at the man that then walked up to him and spoke to him with a German accent. Matthias tipped his had in the man's direction as well and answered.
    "God's Peace good man."
In greeting. The the door opened and an abomination from hell itself stood in the door frame welcoming them in. Matthias felt the need to reach for his sword and end this mockery of a man right there and then but he restrained himself, he had to figure out what was going on first, then and only then would he use violence, it was never good to be to rash.
"I think my soul would suffer if I where to consume anything you had to offer abomination. I am here about the letter, and only about the letter."
Matthias spat before he crossed himself. Puritans generally did not use the gesture, it was far to Catholic, but it just felt like the appropriate thing to do before stepping into such a den of evil.

As Matthias where crossing the threshold into the mansion another man appeared, it seam the deviltry in here had summoned quite a collection of unfortunate souls here today.
    "Yes a curious day indeed."
    Matthias agreed.
"Shall we find out what our gracious hosts inside have in store for us, though I have to express my concern that this place might not be safe for the women."
Matthias glanced at Aldric, there was another presence around him some sort of spirit or devil perhaps. Oh well God would show him the way eventually and then all who spat in the eye of righteousness would feel his sword and his bullets.

Pamela was relieved to see that Matthias didn't recognize her and was more then happy to act as if she was weak and unable to take care of herself. She could, if worse came to worse, protect her life rather well with her wind magic, but for now she would play damsel in order to stay out of trouble. Amelia, however, was clearly to weak to take care of herself. Why was she even here?
