    Post -[Parasite Eve] (Paranormal RP/High-Casual)

    []

If you've played the Parasite Eve series, it would be a huge plus, but definitely not necessary because this RP will retcon a lot of established parts of the series.
The Parasite Eve series debuted on the PS1 and was also a relatively popular Japanese novel before that: http://parasiteeve.wikia.com/wiki/Parasite_Eve_(novel)

    [Setup:]
Since the Manhattan Incident of 1997, MIST (Mitochondrion Investigation and Suppression Team), has been thoroughly disbanded and the files and documents that the agency gathered were scattered to the winds and absorbed by other various governmental intelligence agencies. Shortly after Eve's rampage through New York City, there were scattered reports of Mitochondrion Creatures that have surfaced, thus leading to the formation of MIST. Its main function was to find and suppress those sporadic incidents around the world and to hunt down any remaining Mitochondrion creatures.

After Officer Aya Brea ended Eve's plot to unleash a forced "natural selection" on the planet, the Mitochondrion creatures have been mostly wiped out, but occasional reports of mountain hermits and farmers getting attacked, but not enough for the government to raise a ruckus. As far as most people who were left alive after the tragedies of the Mitochondrial Age were concerned, the Mitochondrion were no longer a substantial threat to their well-being. However, the Mitochondria that has not awakened, seems to be undergoing a change as well, albeit not one as drastic as that of the Mitochondrion. Modern science is stumped, because after the events of Eve's attack, the Mitochondria have somehow become more advanced, even in the average joe.

For the time being, this mitochondrial change seems to have produced no noticeable effect and everything seems to be as it was. However, a new challenge for the Mitochondria looms overhead...

    [What You Will Be Doing:]

A new organization has stepped up named META, (Mitochondrion Extermination and Tactical Auxiliary) . This offshoot Mitochondrial-elimination squad seeks to accomplish a somewhat similar goal as the now defunct MIST, but far more specialized and focused. META is the only group with the proper authority to neutralize Mitochondrian entities and the organization has 4 bases around the world - one on each coast of the United States, one in northern Canada and one in South America. META was conceived by several men in a smoke-filled room, however the specialized 4-person squad functions on its own, without having to answer to any higher authority, while still working within the boundaries of the local law. The squad is comprised of the best of the best in this particular field of crime and investigation. Using their knowledge of the Mitochondrial and their own mitochondrial powers, META has been tasked with the extermination of the savage, although rare Mitochondrion. Since the organization is fresh in its infancy, all 4 members must work together to keep the squad afloat and ensure they accomplish enough in the field of genetic and Mitochondrial Research so that financial funding keeps flowing into the coffers.

    [The Mitochondria:]

The Mitochondrion is a microscopic component of a generic cell which regulates ATP production. ATP being the source of energy that animals (including humans) extract from food in order to power their body. ATP is produced in the Mitochondria of cells. Mitochondria are the cell's power producers. They convert energy into forms that are usable by the cell. Located in the cytoplasm, they are the sites of cellular respiration which ultimately generates fuel for the cell's activities. Mitochondria are also involved in other cell processes such as cell division and growth, as well as cell death.

Some women who knowingly or unknowingly awaken their Mitochondria within their cellular structure, become known as Eves - the Mitochondrial evolution seems to affect the mental stability of women negatively, whereas the mind of the male Mitochondrion (known as Adams, for obvious reasons.) All Eves are actually women who have been taken over by the consciousness of the mitochondria in their cells, but not all Eves suffer the effect of complete mental instability. In the novel, they are portrayed as connected organisms present in the cell, contrary to normal mitochondria, which are individuals. Eve takes its name from the theorized Mitochondrial Eve, a historic woman (or women) in Africa that most people derive their mitochondrial DNA (mRNA) from. All the Eve/Adam incarnations have many powers, but they all possess a single, common power: the ability to cause living animals to combust. The first Eve was seen in the Japanese horror novel and film Parasite Eve.

    Mitochondrial Evolution

There are those whose Mitochondria awakens prematurely, which sets off a downhill cascade of metabolic reactions which excites cells past the normal threshold and causes hyper-rapid genetic evolution. The Mitochondria signals these people and creatures to evolve and pick off the weaker links of the chain of life. Simple-minded creatures such as dogs, cats, rats, and bats all suffer grotesque mutations, but become substantially more physically powerful. Their appearance changes from cute and cuddly to "holy shit." A creature that is marginally more complicated, like humans, suffer/benefit from tremendous neurological changes, as well as the phenomena of appendage-like growths mutating out of the body. This includes, but is not limited to, extra arms growing out of arms, extra arms growing out of your hair and extra arms growing out of your eye sockets.

A rat turning into a mitochondrion.

    -Male #2 (Knighthawk)

Awesome, I'll write up a character sheet template when I get more interest and I'll put my CS up with it, because posting a CS in a timely manner seems to be a big problem for many people. I edited the main post to be a bit more clear about the direction this RP is going in, but for the most part, it will be the characters that create the RP's plot as we go on.

Still looking for 2 people who can dedicate themselves to a female character.
    Awaken, Mitochondria.

Props. It's rare to find people who like the PE series. Interested.

Any idea what open slot you'd like to claim? Ideally I'd like 2 males and 2 females, but 3 males 1 female works too if I can't find 2 female chars interested.
    Awaken, Mitochondria.

Eh, I can play either or. It's always baffled me that people need to be gender specific with their roleplays.

Do I see what I think I see? I think I see a PArasite Eve RP at last, And I think I am extremely Interested =3 I played the shit out of Parasite Eve for a long while XD Never could get a working copy of PE2 or 3 T.T But I've been itching for an RP like this for ages And I jump at the chance to join in XD

But dang, Gender Specification >.> Just noticed that, however, Since Castiel is willing to play either one, I'll take a shot anyway ^.^ I'd like to play a male personally, Given that I can't play female very well =P for certain 'reasons' I'm sure can be guessed XD

Gender requirements exist because I don't want this RP to suffer from too-many-males or too-many-female-RPers Syndrome.
    Awaken, Mitochondria.

No, no. You misunderstand. Perhaps I wasn't making myself clear. I think it's baffling that people limit themselves to roleplaying a single gender. Where's the challenge in that?

Well, In my case, It's because I'm gay =P soooo, female doesn't come up for me often XD I don't actually dislike women or anything, but being one, even in RP, isn't for me ^.^ Yet I still find ample room for challenge and creativity and such xD

but either way, WOO, OOC ^.^ And I understand the desire to avoid a complete 'sausage-fect'/'Taco-fest' XD sometimes variety helps things tremendously ^.^
