Thread: Pax Britannica and the Undead (OOC)

  1. #11
Apologies. Got a little busy. Will be getting my own character up soon.

I figured the zombies should be called 'shamblers'. Or 'undead'.

Name: Captain Charles of the House of Bourbon-Sicily.

    Age: 28

Country of Origin: Kingdom of Naples

    Appearance:

Fame: Charles is the sole surviving heir of the House of Bourbon-Sicily, which ruled the Kingdom of Naples before the undead came. When Rome, Napoli and Palermo fell to the shambling hordes, Charles managed to commandeer a ship free of the undead and steered it to England. Due to his royal blood, he managed to get a role in the 'Reclamation Campaign', a long term mission by the Kingdom of Great Britain to clear out France of the undead hordes. The Reclamation Campaign consists of short term land missions involving infantry riflemen lines on the beaches, killing as many undead as possible before boarding their ships on the coast and returning to England.

Talents: Charles is a competent fencer, and has begun learning the skills required to handle rifles. He can steer ships and manage them effectively, and can navigate the oceans rather well.

Misc: Charles is the captain of the ship HMS Naples, a ship previously known as Ferdinand. Due to his 'exiled royal' status, Charles has a bit more leeway with his own actions and command as compared to other Captains.

IC up. I think it should be a way to introduce everyone's situations.

By the way, for all the slightly less historically inclined, the Duke of Wellington mentioned is a real person. He defeated Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo.

Also, I still haven't gotten everyone's/anyone's views on intelligent undead or more powerful variants of the undead.

If we opt to include advanced undead, just don't give them ridiculous mutations. I think runners are fine, as is the occasional tank.

Also, where should we be heading?

I think much the same, maybe the ocassional runner or a swollen tank like zombie. Magic and intelligent undead wouldn't fit in. Also, I assume these zombies dont have to be decapitated or have their brains destroyed in order to kill them?

Edit, Napoleon is still alive, he died in 1821 and he is safe from the plague at st. Helena

The sand of the desert is sodden red, --
Red with the wreck of a square that broke; --
The Gatling's jammed and the Colonel dead,
And the regiment blind with dust and smoke.
The river of death has brimmed his banks,
And England's far, and Honour a name,
But the voice of a schoolboy rallies the ranks:
'Play up! play up! and play the game!'

I was thinking that Charles might be asked by the Duke to find Napoleon. Sailing from England to St. Helena with very few ports in between is not easy. But that's not the fastest way to put everyone in the same room, so I'm not sure. It's hard to get to Siberia from England even with a non-infected port in the area of Novgorod.

St. Helena's status is unknown, actually, or perhaps partially infected. Corsica is overwhelmed, but no one remembered to check on St. Helena when they fled the Italian peninsula.

And I guess there will be a few runners and tanks.

I know more about early 19th century Europe than I do about zombies. Is there any specifics you are going off of, a zombie legendarium or something?
Sail away where no ball and chain
Can keep us from the roarin' waves
    Together undivided
    But forever we'll be free

    Sail away aboard our rig
The moon is full and so are we
    Seven drunken pirates
    We're the seven deadly sins

But it's the only life we'll know
    Blagards to the bone
So don't wreck yourself, take an honest grip
For there's more tales beyond the shore
