There was little contest for me. If anything, it's a hard choice deciding my second favorite.

Number 3 gets my vote. Brilliant idea, very well executed. I'm a sucker for dark humor, and every element in that story (The idea of being lost and helpless, the exploration of what toys must fear, the gothic hints at the end, the mystery of this gremlin creature) is used in amounts that are just right, as goldilocks said.

A lot of entries were well written, and this was no exception. Loved it!

Lots of thanks to Mayhem for the Sig.

Hello ladies and gentlemen of the Writer of the Month contest, both entrants and voters alike. I'm the newest addition to the WOTM manager team, in case you didn't see the Guild Newsletter or my name slipped into the list of managers at the bottom of the first post in this thread. Thank you all for taking part in the contest, without you folks it would quite obviously be nothing.

Those who entered the contest are encouraged to read other people's entries, vote for one (not your own, of course), and put up some reviews or comments for your fellows if you have the time (just remember to maintain anonymity or wait until after the winner is announced). I'm sure part of why you entered the contest was to receive some critiques on your work, so why not do your fellows a favor and provide that service for them? On that note, I shall be putting up reviews for all entries after voting has closed and the winner is announced. They won't be the best reviews in the world, but I try to make them helpful to some degree.

Good luck to all contest entrants. With the insane amount of entries we got this month, you'll need it.

Did you know we have a Writer of the Month contest? Come join it.
WOTM #26: Evil Wins is open and accepting entries through June 4th.

I voted for "Lost" because it had a very special concept to it. It didn't have a clichéd story line as some if the others and that's what makes it so unique. It was simple and straight to the point as well as having a complexity that allows for thinking. Great job, anon.

Oh, dear lord. There are more entries this month than I’ve ever seen in a Writer of the Month. Oh, gosh… Let me try to make my way through.

Note that all of my comments will assume the reader has read the entries as well, and will therefore include spoilers in loads. You who didn’t read the entries and just scrolled down to the comments, you have been warned. Also note that I am not a professional, I will be voting from my own personal opinion.

And that’s that. Now I have spent way too long on this. I hope people appreciate my effort. I hope I have not been too hard on anyone. *bows* See ya.

Seeing that there are so many entries, and I'm so very busy, I'll be reviewing in parts. It'll be a detailed review, and possibly a bit harsher than normal, so that I can remember exactly what I thought of each one. I'm kind of nervous for my own, seeing how there are so many to read, but I'm excited at the same time. I wish you all the best of luck, and I'll get to reading right away.

I've been busy lately, and I still am. Commentary is getting shorter, and I apologize. I'm just trying to get all this in and vote before the deadline. If you have more questions or want a fuller review, pm me at the end of this.

    Looking for more 1x1 RPs.

A big [2] to this. The larger the amount of entries in a month (and this month it was absolutely massive), the more important it is that we get more voters. Lack of votes has been a complaint in the past, especially during large months like these, and sadly there's nothing we can do to fix the issue except encourage more voting. It is especially problematic in the fact that, quite often, entrants don't vote. More entrants also means more unwilling voters. I often tell people "if everyone who entered voted, plus on-lookers, we'd have plenty of votes", but sadly this message doesn't always go through, and we get a sad voter shortage. I understand the logic behind not wanting to help your competitors, but please, be a good sport and send in a vote to help out the contest. Who knows, perhaps the author you just voted for also voted for you.

Oh, and this applies to reviews, as well. It's sad to see a Voting thread that never goes further than the 1st page due to lack of comments and critiques. If you don't want to give away who you are, then like Jorick said either wait till voting's over to put them up or just write a faux review of your own entry. Don't be shy, just write what you expected people to say when you sent it in. Faux reviews are very common and only a manager could spot them, so don't feel like you have to worry that you're breaking anonymity- you aren't. Faux reviews blend in just fine. In-depth reviews aren't necessary, a few sentences or even just one would suffice. Or if you don't have time to review all 14 (my god that's a lot), just explaining why you chose the one you voted for is fine as well. Any sort of reviewing is greatly appreciated by the authors who took the time to write and enter- and given the sheer number of entrants I'd say that's just about everyone reading this! So please, help out your fellow authors and the contest as a whole.

I would be so horrid at reviewing mine that I would surely give it away. I will review after everything is done, though.

People say that, but then there's never an issue. That's what I'm getting at- people are better at reviewing themselves than they think. Ah well, I suppose just waiting till voting is done works, too.

My reviews are going to be kind of scattered. Sorry about that. Used to actually taking a piece of paper and writing over absolutely everything, as opposed to a single cohesive overview.

General Notes: Titles are an important part of a story. Try and have them.

In the end, I voted for Entry #3. Good work!
