There are these guys in my comp class that tried to argue that video games are a form of Literature. I was the only one that WASN'T playing the Devil's Advocate in the entire class. I was livid, you guys. And so now.. Instead of sitting beside me they both now scoot one chair down. It kind of makes me feel like I smell bad or something.. NAH.

I know that it's so that they won't feel stupid sitting next to my majestic aura.

Yeahhh! I know! It was the fact that they said writing the story line, dialogue, etc was what made it into Literature. Also, games like Skyrim and Far Cry have their own books inside the game. Even then, the games contain pieces of Literature.. But AREN'T literature. No matter what I said, no one would agree with me. It was absolutely fucking ridiculous. I'm getting livid just thinking about it.

Video games are a bit of everything. But I wouldn't call it literature on it's own standing, the same way I wouldn't call a game a music album.

Does adding subtitles to a movie make it literature? Nah.

Does a painting with words in it count as literature? Nope.

Does a video game having words to read mean it's literature? No.

Simple shit, man. There's a writing component to video games, but they are not literature in and of themselves. One might say they are more than literature because they contain pieces of literature inside them in the form of book and whatnot, but they aren't just literature so the title ill suits them.
