Name - William Burnwight
Nicknames - Will
Age - 16
Gender - Male
Appearance - Couldn't find a suiting picture, rather unusually. Will is about 5'6", with an unimposing slim figure. He looks like he'd be more at home surrounded by books then on any kind of field- and he embraces this fact, reading every chance he gets. Not to say he isn't fit- he just can't build up any massive muscle. He is certainly stronger then he looks- It's just all in his shoulders, wrists, and legs. That comes with archery, running, and climbing, after all. However unimposing his size and frame is, though, he maintains a bit of a "Don't fuck with me" aura- helped along by the fact that he has that rare type of grey eye that just seems to bore into anything he looks at. He keeps longish rugged black hair, falling to about the middle of his neck and covering his eyes more often then not. He normally wears jeans, sneakers, a blank t-shirt, and a grey windbreaker, as well as a silver chain with an odd little dragon charm on it.
Personality - Will isn't exactly a social butterfly. It isn't because he doesn't get along well with people- he just has trust issues, and finds it hard to make any decent friends. He's normally quiet- a book worm- and has a tendency to sneak about unseen. A habit he embraces, as it lets him pick up on everything people don't want him to hear- like what they actually think of him. Around friends, though, he comes out of his shell a bit. He has a rather strange sense of humor, and a silver tongue when he feels like talking. He's been known to be a bit of a class joke at times- often late to class and climbing into class through the window, hoping the teacher won't notice he was late- which they usually don't, even though it does usually elicit a wave of chuckles in class. Especially the ones on the upper levels of the school.
Short History - Wills life has hardly inspired him to be social or trusting. His mother died giving birth, which left him under the care of a lazy, ass hole father, and an ever busy older brother who never seemed to have time for him. As such, he felt like he was growing up alone more often then not, causing him to develop an over mature state of mind early on, as well as antisocial, paranoid tendencies. HE has issues trusting people because of it, though he's learned from the past that a good friend is something you should keep, as such he's loyal to the end to his friends. He's always been a bookworm, and has a soft spot for anything fantasy and or mythology- Especially the odd, out there mythologies. As such, he knows a bit much lore in a bit many mythologies. Which often gets him labelled as a nerd, when he isn't sneaking around. Due to his mostly solitary self raising, he took to odd hobbies. He began to visit the nearest range constantly, becoming something of an archery nut and becoming well known around the range for his natural skill. When he wasn't there or reading, he was out camping- usually near a large cliff, which he tended to climb. He managed to get into his fair share of fights throughout middle and highschool so far- usually talking his way out of things. And if that failed? Well, he likely got his ass handed to him. After all- can't exactly stand back and rain arrows down on a guy in a school hall, can he? His entire life has given him a strong will power to match his name, and even after losing, he tends to throw in one or two last comments- usually extremely insulting ones on a level of such subtlety it takes someone with brains like his to get what the hell he just said.
Likes and Interests - Reading, writing, mythology, archery, and climbing. Oh. And candy. He has a major sweet-tooth.
General Dislikes - Jocks, ass holes, preps, and pretty much the better half of the highschool population. As well as spiders. And spicy foods.
Other - *Flails* This. This interests me. Tis a good RP idea.
Writing Sample - A post from a previous zombie RP I was in- with a similar character.
Will rested on the porch, letting his head drop back to sit against the wall, giving him a view of the sky. It seemed to stretch forever, and he enjoyed looking at its void, pretending the world wasn't hell, if only for a few moments. Despite himself, and his usual caution, the excitement of the day was catching up to him, and he was soon dozing easily on the porch, the alien sound of soft snoring emitting from the usually silent sleeping teenager. He was more comfortable then he cared to admit, apparently.
The wind whipped against his face, throwing his midlength hair in a flurry around his head. The sound of hooves was soothing beneath him as he urged Furia into the mile eating lope he knew she was capable of sustaining for a day or more beneath him, and the smells of fields brushed past his nose. It could have been another day back on his uncles farm, were it not for the fact he was riding in the saddle backwards, emptying the quiver slung over his back into the group of zombies behind him. It was a mere month after the awakening had hit his home, and he was still thinking of it as one big game, a soft grin crossing his features as he watched the zombies drop behind him. There hadn't been many. He had yet to encounter a group of more then six or seven, and so Furia was having an easy time keeping ahead as he felled them. After another minute or so, he twisted back around in the saddle, slipping his bow back behind his quiver and leaning low over the saddle, twitching the reins and urging Furia into an all out gallop. He was only another mile from Alex and her family, he knew, and was confident he could get there in a few short minutes, tend Furia, and maybe convince Alex to come with him on the long trip to supposed safe lands in the west.
How wrong he was.
It took him all of three minutes to come up on the large farmhouse that was the Silvens' residence, and he pulled on the reins, Furia skidding to a stop beneath him, straight into the stables near the back of the house. This was all familiar- he had done the exact same thing countless times before the awakening. The smell of fresh hay hit his nose, and he smiled, swinging out of the saddle and giving Furia an affectionate pat, scratching the ears of the two other horses in the stables as he passed. He held his arm out as he exited the stables, a blur of black plumage and an added weight signalling his other companions arrival on his arm. He gave the Raven a quick scratch under the beak, walking through the tall grass to the farmhouse. After another minute or two of wading through the field, he came to the door, rapping his knuckles in the quirky pattern of his against the wood. It didn't take long before the door was ripped open, revealing Alex, hair askew and eyes wide with shock, standing on the other side. It seemed to take her a moment to process that it was in fact Will at the door before she flung herself at him, burying her face in his shoulder and spooking Rain back to the skies with an indignant shout of gurgled english, probably an insult, of which Will had taught her more then a few. Will let his arms drop around Alex's shoulders with a grin, taking in the familiar scents that surrounded her. After a moment, they pulled apart.... and she gave him a solid slap.
"Took you long enough! I was worried sick, Will! Where the -hell- have you been!? Papa's been shooting the poor sick folk for days now, keeping them off the property! And why are you armed!? Have they reached beyond the farm? Gah! Why didn't you come soone-" She was cut off by the familiar look on Wills face. The slightly titled head, lofted brow, and sly grin. He tossed his head back suddenly, laughing.
"Good to see you too, Alex." He said, pretending to rub his cheek, as if it still stung. "Mind if I answer those questions one at a time, while Mr. and Mrs. Silvens are around to hear it as well?"
She nodded, grabbing his hand and dragging him across the threshold, shouting into the house, announcing Wills arrival to her parents. Rain only just had time to flit through the door and onto Wills shoulder before it was shut and locked securely behind them. Will found himself dragged into the large dining room, where Mr. and Mrs. Silvens were both waiting. Mr. Silvens was by the window with a shotgun in hand, peering out, while Mrs. Silvens was sitting at the table, knitting furiously, as she tended to do when she was nervous. As Will stepped in, they turned around and looked up respectively, and he dipped his head, tapping a finger to his forehead in greeting.
"Pleasure to see you again, Mr. Silvens, Mrs. Silvens."
As usual, the Mr. snorted, chuckling, while the Mrs. waved a dismissive hand and tried to hide a smile, returning to her knitting.
"Please, Will. You know Pa will do fine for ya, after you've been with my daughter long enough to practically live here." Mr Silvens said, the fake disdain in his voice a part of an old joke between the two. "Now, pleasant greetings over with. We're glad to see you, but we've been having... issues, on the stead. All of them poor sick fo-"
Will cut him off with a sigh. "All those poor sick folk are dead, Pa. It was on the news in town for weeks before it finally struck our area. Some kind of bug brought all the dead... well, back up from the ground. I know it sounds nuts, but it's true. Your farm isn't the only place plagued with the things. I had to fight my way here, else I'd have been here last week. That's why I'm here at all, Pa. I want the three of you to pack what you can and come west with me. They say it's the only safe place left..."
Will snapped awake from the dream suddenly, the unceasing pecking at his hand from Rain finally waking him. He glanced down somewhat blearily and gave the raven an affectionate pat. He thought a moment, before realizing he must have just experienced another memory relapse. Bits and pieces, it seemed, were coming back to him, giving him a clue as to who he once was. He sat for the next ten minutes or so, scribbling into the journal Jon had given him, flipping to the back and writing small notes and questions to himself. After a while, he sighed, rubbed his leg, and stood with some difficulty. After a quick glance skyward, he decided he couldn't have slept more then a half hour, almost an hour, counting the time after he awoke he used to think and write. After cracking the majority of the bones in his body and taking in the sounds and smells around him, he turned towards the house, shouldering through the door and glancing around. The others, it seemed, had gathered inside already. He ghosted over to stand behind and beside Jon, playing absently with Rain as he observed the others, more then a little curious as to what he had missed in his nap...
Hope this works! ^^
