The Sea Bitch - Swashbuckling Interest Check

    Prompt:

Her name is Catarina Siren. Her life's journey has been one of adventure, mayhem and change. Having once been a sailor on the proud Felonious Ferret under the lady Captain Cyn, a wretched storm, sent from the depths of Hades itself, tore Cat from her life and then family, sending her adrift. All attempts to find her crew abandoned, she now can hope for only one other option of life: finding a new one.

    Author's note:

I came here because I've got the itch. That terrible writer's itch that keeps you up at all hours of the night until it's scratched. I had tried originally to create a character for a role play community on deviantART, but it went nowhere fast. Either no one was interested, or those who were vanished after a few posts, or even none at all. I could find no pirate forums, no communities (outside of Disney) for role playing, and no games to entertain me. So I've come here in a last ditch effort to try and get this itch scratched. Below I will post the original character sheet created for said role playing community. As of now, I have no real story (hence why the prompt is so short) and need just one (or two) other person(s) for this rp.

Also, it's important to note: I am picky. But, that's why I came to a place called "Advanced Roleplaying." As I'm still new, here are some of my own standards:

-I don't push quantity as much as I do quality.
-I am not afraid to post intimate, gruesome, or disturbing scenes if it furthers the plot (on the rare occasions I DO have some sort of problem, I'll let you know).
-If you do not entertain me and/or have anything of real value to contribute to the plot, I have been known to drop people flat. But so long as we gel, everything should be fine.
-I expect some amount of research in this. This will take place during the Golden Age of piracy. I don't want someone to show up and throw around modern slang.

    Character Sheet

This is the sheet I did according to the specifications of the rp forum at the time.

    Character Name: Catarina "Siren" Riely
    Age: 21
    Species: Human
    Gender: Female

Appearance: Cat, Siren is her pirate name, stands at about five feet nine inches, with a curvy, almost thick physique. Her hair, often kept mussy or in braids, is long and brown, and usually tied back by a blood red headscarf. While most wenches wear skirts and corsets, Cat finds herself more in pants, a pair of thick black boots, a vest of patch-work and white tunic. Depending on the light, her eyes can be either vibrant blue or a gray green. It's been joked that her eyes change with the color of her mood.

History: Catarina Riely was born of an Irish dairy farmer during the mid 1600's. She was an only child growing up, and dealt with a lot of responsibility, both in physical labor and in the household. While her father taught her how to work hard and stay strong, her mother taught her the basics of reading and writing. Growing up, Cat began to read, mostly fantastical stories about myths and adventures. This gave her a far off dream about one day seeing such wonders for herself.

At fourteen, her mother finally decided that it was her time to marry. Dreading a life of a housewife, Cat disguised herself as a boy and signed up with a royal navy's crew as a cook's Seward. Half way to the New World, her ship was hijacked and she herself taken captive. It wasn't long before her true gender was discovered. However, rather than be the subject of rape and torture, Cat found a home within this nest of pirates, and soon became one herself. She was given the nickname "Siren" because of her tendency to sing or hum during chores.

Her life as a pirate hardened her more than labor on the dairy farm. She learned to grow a thick skin through her days aboard the "Ferret Fleet" under her leader, Captain Cyn, though never forgetting the lessons taught to her as a girl. She even kept a journal recounting her days from runaway to full blown pirate. But as life grew more exciting, the days became too short, and her writing fell by the wayside.

Personality: After becoming a pirate, Cat garnered a nasty sense of humor, earning her the right to drink and cuss like the boys. She's unafraid to say what's on her mind, and will sometimes be overcompensating for the fact that she was born with breasts. Sometimes, in doing so, she might even go too far. She's sharp with a sword, having been trained the moment she turned pirate, sharper only than her wit. As for femininity, Cat attests to the fact that it's unneeded in her life. However, when she sees her pirate brothers drooling over tavern wenches or common whores, there is a spark of jealousy within her that she will never admit to out loud. Cat's weakness has always been her temper. Normally, she can withstand the best of them. Get her too riled up, however, and Cat stops thinking straight, often getting her into trouble. Because of her need to compensate the fact that she's a woman, Cat sometimes has a little too much confidence in herself, which acts as a hubris in the worst of times.

Weakness: Cat might be a quick swordsman with good stamina, but she is not nearly as strong as some of the others of her crew. Her heavy boots and rounded frame also make her a rather slow runner. When she's riled up to the point of not thinking straight, her aim has been known to be off, hence why she prefers the sword to her pistol. Because of her lack of upper body strength, going on head-to-head with an opponent is challenging without weapons; ie: there would be no way she could take out a man twice her size with nothing but her fists, even if she fought dirty.

Weapons/Abilities: Cat has two blade weapons: a standard rapier and a dagger found during a raid of an Indian treasure ship. As for long range, Cat was able to steal a beautiful Spanish pistol from a guard during a jail break when she was 18. As far as battle talents, Cat can very easily sneak up on a target or enemy and kill them without a sound. She has also found a talent in staying nimble while climbing masts, ropes and other high places with ease. Even in the rain.

Other: When she gains a relationship with someone, Cat remains loyal to a fault. However, once trust is lost, forgiveness is not easily gained. As far as sexual preference goes, she has no discerning specifics, be it man or woman. When you're out at sea for that long, you'll take what you can get when you can get it.

I'm still molding the idea as a whole, so if anyone is interested, please let me know. We might be able to hammer out a plot here :3

I like pirates. But the title might put some people off.
Sail away where no ball and chain
Can keep us from the roarin' waves
    Together undivided
    But forever we'll be free

    Sail away aboard our rig
The moon is full and so are we
    Seven drunken pirates
    We're the seven deadly sins

But it's the only life we'll know
    Blagards to the bone
So don't wreck yourself, take an honest grip
For there's more tales beyond the shore

"The Sea Bitch" is actually the name of the tavern I'm thinking the story will start off in. At this point I have no other ideas about names.

Hooray, pirate game! I'm there. I noticed you specified Human as a species. Before I hammer out a character, is there a high fantasy element to this I missed in the description, or will this take place in the actual carribean circa 1660-1689?

No, that was just the specifics of the rp forum when I first made the character sheet. I'm looking for a realistic, historical role play about pirates. So no magic, no curses, nothing like that.

I don't like to use the same characters but I may borrow from the current one I play as I really like her

    Fine by me :3

Oh, and another thing to note - I don't mind multiple characters. As a matter of fact, I encourage it. But I also don't require sheets for side characters, only main ones. I usually end up creating them within the story.

You have my interest. I have a character in mind and and few plot hooks to introduce once the premise is fleshed out some.
