Crime is not out of the ordinary on the filthy city streets, but a curious series of murders over the past several weeks have baffled police. These are not the ordinary cases of battery, drowning, or bullets. The victims in this case all seemed to have died of the same cause, or rather, no cause at all. For the victims, seemingly unrelated except for the strange way in which they died, show no signs of internal or external trauma. Poisoning is suspected but nothing can be confirmed.
After many theories and false leads, police headquarters hires a detective to take on the case. He died three days after beginning the investigation in the same fashion as every other victim, but a search of his person revealed a clue. In his pocket was a letter written in strange characters but the envelope was addressed to a Dr. Johnathan Griffin.
Now, this Dr. Griffin was a relatively new resident, for he had bought an old gothic house on the outskirts of the city, and there he stayed. He never came into town, but after several inquiries it was discovered that he took brief walks at twilight every evening. Other than that, it seemed that he went nowhere and never had any visitors. The only other people reported to go in and out of the house were the two servants, a butler and a cook who also played housekeeper. Questioning them turned up nothing, as neither of them apparently had anything to say about their master.
It was all quite suspicious indeed, and though he had apparently done nothing, Dr. Johnathan Griffin quickly became the prime suspect.
Keep in mind I have a four player limit for this one, however multiple characters are allowed. Roles to think about include: Detective (luckier than the last fellow), Police Chief, Curious Journalist/Slueth, Involved Civilian, and Possible Love Interest.

Name: Ashley "Ash" Marcone
Sex: Male

Occupation: Private Detective.
Kin: His mother was an Irish immigrant that fell in love with a New York police officer who died when Ashley was only 12. His mother died of cancer when Ashley was 18.
Character Traits: Ashley followed in his father's footsteps and became a police officer for the New York Police department. He is skilled with some fire arms such as a pistol and a sub machine gun. He boxes in his free time to keep in shape and jogs too so he is a good runner, especially after chasing crooks for so long. He has a sharp eye so he is rather perceptive and he never goes down without a fight.
Summary of traits: Marksman, Athletic and a fighter, determined and has a strong sense of justice. Sharp tongue to his enemies, polite to women (Criminal or no). Hot headed at times and does have some buttons that will make him lose his temper. Rough around the edges. Not that bad of a dancer though.
History: Ashley was born in New York by an Irish immigrant mother and a New York cop (Brooklyn to be exact). His father was kind to him and so was his mother, if not strict. He was raised as a good boy, taught to respect his elders and be courteous to women, so he was the teacher's favorite student. He often went to work with his father and the precinct became like his second family, almost.
His father was killed when trying to prevent a bank heist. The robbers shot him down with fully automatic weapons and drove off. They were caught a week later. Since that day Ash was determined to become an officer of the law like his dad which happened when Ash was at the age of 18, a month after his mother died. He soon got promoted to a detective when he was 20 and he did his best to bust the local mob gangs. Sadly he found how corrupt the system was and he quit when he was 23, becoming a private eye.
When he was 25 he decided to move, maybe track down his family in the UK. His leads to find his family lead to nought and he ended up getting an office back in London and became a private detective there, sometimes working with the local law enforcement too.

Has a small scar on his cheek after a fight with a crook
Wears usually a nice suit and a fedora hat and a shoulder holster under the coat where he has holstered a M1911 (Has a permit)

Character Traits: Griffin is a very private man and prefers to keep to himself and his home. He is slow to anger but when his wrath is aroused it can be something terrible. He is very secretive in his work and always keeps the door to his personal laboritory carefully locked. He dislikes company of any sort except that of his trusted servants. When he is not busy working or brooding in his study, he takes short walks in the evening alone and always wears his hat pulled down, collar turned up and walks with his head down and hands thrust deeply into his pockets. Any who happen to encounter him give him a wide berth, and his appearance as such has been the fuel for many fantastic and dreadful rumors among the townsfolk.
History: Griffin had always had a fascination with science and the way the world worked. He was always very intelligent and quick to learn and left home at a young age to pursue a career in the medical industry. After a year of study however, his interests led him to drop the medical degree and study chemistry and physics. While in school he made several small discoveries and breakthroughs with the help of his fellow students and graduated with honor. However, after three years of working for a larger company and providing them with his skills, he became obsessed with a personal project that caused him to become lax in his duties. He soon lost his position but that only freed his time to spend it completely on personal research and discovery. He wrote and published many papers on various subjects, careless of how they would be recieved by the scientific community. Then one day he disappeared. All his notebooks, tools, everything he used in his research vanished with him for three years.
And then, as suddenly as he had gone, he was back, revealing himself only to a few of his old coworkers and select friends. The vibrant young scientist was gone, however, replaced by a serious and reclusive man who purchased an old house on the outskirts of London, presumably he was continuing his personal exploits but nobody knew for sure what he spent his days doing anymore.
Other: He seems to have an unlimited supply of money, but from where nobody knows.
I want to comment on your CS.
The pic doesn't really qualify for appearance since, well, all we can see is that he wears a coat and a fedora.

Occupation: Journalist for the local paper.
Kin: Has a single brother that he still talks to. Their parents passed away when Jefferson was 16 due to a car crash that killed 6 people total. (Jeff and his brother weren't in the car)
Character Traits: He is curious and intuitive. kind of ironically though, he is also naive. He is also a little TOO trusting.. however, he is a fantastic writer and lives for the thrill of the mystery.
History: He has been writing since he was in school. It wasn't till he switched his major at his university three times did he realize he wanted to go into journalism. He graduated after four long years with average grades and got a job as a writer with his local papers at the age of 22. covering there mysterious murders is only his second big story and the pressure is on him to do well.
Other: he enjoys smoking a fag from time to time. Other than that, just don't take advantage of him too much.
