Watched that and the follow-up video it linked to. Both were rather inspiring. The latter one moreso.

I really liked this. Really inspiring.
Why I hate police, but love law and order.

It makes sense. I don't know about America but in England we have to choose what we want to do at about 12. If we make the wrong decisions then we're screwed, and can't do certain careers. Then we are forced into doing obligatory subjective a lot of people will fail in and our job oppurtunities will lessen. Thankfully I'm academic, but for non-academics it's hard.
I always liked the idea of having students get tested though practical application of knowledge so that we already have an idea of what actually working a job is like. I don't think it would fix everything, but it if nothing else gives us a more accurate evaluation of practical intelligence than a standardized test.
Thanks for the siggy Harby san. You definitely know my tastes.

Oh for fuck's sake. Can someone kill this format?
Also. Idolising David Beckham was just the nail in the coffin of his speech. Is this dude fucking serious? And let me ask you guys. What is so inspiring about this? I mean what does this tell you? What useful info you can practically apply does this video contain? We all think we're gonna be the next billionaire? Looking at these individuals what is my conclusion? They had some fucking drive. You need drive, luck, ideas and skills to make it without education. Those things you don't magically gain overnight by dropping out of school. Sure, there are guys with success. Now count the drop-outs who work at McDonalds instead.
And then he's all like, bitch bitch bitch about systems. Which is, like, exactly the same thing as I hear around me every day. Hell, I participate in it myself. And yes, there are problems with many educational systems. To that I say; join a fucking student council. Gather students. Gather the collective voice of your peers. Use that voice. It does make a change. Universities and colleges are changing constantly their contents; you can have a voice in that as long as you make it heard. Bring actual ideas to the table as to how to improve a situation. Push your ideas. Gain support. Test ideas; gaining empirical evidence to support your claims. That is how you do something.
we have such sights to show you
I'd actually appreciate if he'd look at the statistics.

Listing out a few successful people who didn't go isn't a statistic.
While I'm not saying higher learning is proper in it's current form, it is better obviously.
