Advertising a Roleplay

I was reading the rules, and the thread about identifying advertisers in the Roleplaying Discussion. I help run a Roleplay on another site, and I wanted to make use of a banner someone made for that particular Roleplay as well as (Well, let's face it) advertise that Roleplay.

I understand that the answer is probably a given. However, I am not as intent on advertising the forum that this Roleplay is on as much as I am with the actual Roleplay.

If you must know, I have not registered on Roleplayers Guild only to advertise, and I have been here a while and posted in a few RPs a while ago. However my reasons for not being on RPG as often as before are because of the large community, as well as the go-between being added ontop of a list of the sites I go to in what little spare time I have.

Regardless, the main point is that I wanted to know if it would still be possible to post a thread linked to the Roleplay?

If so, I would be willing to put a link to Roleplayers Guild in the Roleplay in question, and make the thread on Roleplayers Guild a sort of Out of Character discussion. A sort of affiliation, essentially.

Posting a thread specifically to advertise is still against the rules. However I've heard that you're allowed to put a link in your sig, even if it's to another website, and have seen people do that.

As Kaga has said, A thread specifically to advertise it is likely still a no. The rule is there to stop obvious advertisers true, but if we allowed people to do so chances are we'd get flooded by threads, there are a lot of people here after all and undoubtedly many of them also rp elsewhere.

Also as Kaga said we usually advise people who really want to advertise put a tasteful link in their sig. Its not a drop and forget then, to advertise you still need to be an active member of the community.
