Well since "digitalizing" is just a dream in the heads of EA scientists and although brain scanners have progressed much the ability to scan all of the information in the brain is still a far dream.

Instead the personality of the AI mostly form's during a their development before reaching maturity. The time needed for an AI to have a complete personality which humans would consider adult is the same as the time it needs to read trough all of the date on the Internet. But still new experiences, especially on AIs on starships might change their personalities over time, for example AI "Ares" was just like most AIs of his series when he exited the EA space program computer facility, a cold and distant AI, but now, after two years in service, he sometimes even makes jokes (although lame ones, well he is a SAI#3 after all).

Sorry, if the RP took place in the 23rd or 24th century then EA AI systems would be much more developed.
