The World Of Phantoms
Mia had known where Eli was since she could sense his blood mass in the corner when it appeared that nothing was there, and when she saw Chris get to him and then after a little announce he couldn't find Eli, she knew flat out that it was a lie. She had watched Chris closely and observed him saying something to Eli, but wasn't able to make out what it was. Still, it seemed that the classes would be getting interesting in the coming days and weeks, but hopefully they could work everything out. The last thing she wanted was to have to be in a dispute, especially with her abilities. What brought her back to her conversation with James was when he mentioned his past and she couldn't help but smile sympathetically.
She gently placed a hand on his shoulder and said "Hey, it's better to regret bad things you've done and try and be better for it then bottling it up and thinking nothing of it. We learn from our mistakes and wrong doings, and at least you show remorse for it...I almost killed my brother when I was younger cause he made me angry. Every orifice on his body began to bleed cause he pushed me to far, and the government didn't have to come get me or intervene, they were pushed to by my family. What you did...That was just reacting to a bully bothering you. I...Hell, the name monster suits me better than anybody in this room. It's not like I'm not one with an ability like this."
She kept the smile on her face and lifted her finger up, and with a slight wince of pain, and small knife shaped mass of blood as hard as steel shot out from her palm and she said "My ability doesn't have a place in this world other than to hurt people. I tried using water, I failed at it. I tried everything I could...And all I have to show for it is that I can now control the blood of other people without even touching them. You merely went overboard...I on the other hand, am a complete monster. I hope that doesn't change how you see me though, I'm honestly trying to be better, and by the end of my government care period I had a few friends among the last gen I had met. Anyways, once more, I'm Mia Feral, hemokinetic, scorned as a monster by some, and I have a decent personality. Hopefully we can get along without my demonstration making you afraid of me."
The small speech she had given to James was more than audible for everyone else to hear. She deliberately did that, as way to put herself out there. She was definitely kind, her tone held no hate or aggression to it, and she kept a calm, polite aura about herself, but the message behind the words were clear . "I might be nice, but I will hurt you if you make me" was the message she had presented. The cut on her palm began to bleed, so she shot the blood back in, and then sutured the wound together using more of her blood. She sighed and stood, saying "Well, we should probably get to the next class since we don't have a lot of time." As she began to walk out she smiled and said "Also, to answer your art question, I'm a musician. Bass guitar is my favorite instrument."
The next class was art class, and there was a young looking women sitting behind the desk. She was around 5'7" with shoulder length black hair, stylish glasses, and a petite figure. She smiled and said "Hello children, my name is Clarissa Stenson, but you may call me Clarissa. As our previous teacher, I hate titles like that, and seeing as we're a small class I want to establish a closer bond with you. We're not going to be doing much today, mainly just explaining what this course entails." She waited for the five students to take their places and after they did, she smiled and began "Alright, as you know your first class is basically to help you prepare for the future, so with a hefty burden like that, we have a class in which you can express your emotions. We'll do sculpting, painting, drawing, music, and other activities to express your emotions and relieve the stress you may feel as we get closer to the fated day when you guys go to Last City. Basically, this class is to just direct your stress into other activities and help you relax."
She explained about the things they'd be doing, including art projects, and music projects as well. She ended the discussion with "For now we're going to do some art work. You'll notice that we have a blank canvas for you to work with. Grab brushes, paint, pencils, whatever you'd like to use to make some art. You can also talk amongst yourselves as you work. I will be right back." With that, she left the room, and the five students to their own devices. Mia grabbed a brush and some paint and stared at her canvas as she contemplated what to do. She shrugged after awhile and just painted random lines and colors across the canvas.
After an hour or so, the teacher returned and said "Alright, leave your work here and go off to lunch." Mia smiled as she had wanted to talk to Chris for a little now, find out what happened. She let the other go ahead of them and she walked beside Chris, saying in a whisper to Chris "I know you found Eli. I also know you whispered something to him. I'm not really interested in what it is you said, or why you lost on purpose, I just wanted to say don't cause any trouble. The last thing the five of us need is to be at each other's throats, especially if we are going to work together in the future. That's all I wanted to say."
With that, she caught back up to the rest of the group and talked leisurely amongst them. She was trying to get on everyone's good side, but she was going to be careful with Chris. In a pure threat level, he was probably the most dangerous to her. Pure Luck could turn the tables in any situation to his favor, so she knew that she'd need to be careful with him.
The cafeteria was small and had only a single table, definitely trying to force them together and converse among themselves. Mia smiled as she received a tray of food and sat down waiting for everyone else. Once everyone was seated, she ate and just waited for other people to talk. It was then she sensed something. A massive increase in the amount of blood in the area. She held a dark grin on her face as she stood up and said 'Hey guys...I think there's gonna be something interesting happening." As she finished, the echos of footsteps could be heard, getting louder as it seemed to be getting closer.
Mia closed her eyes and counted off "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9...over 10 people are coming straight at us. I have no idea who they are, but at their speed, I'm guessing they aren't here to be friends. You guys ready for a fight?" She hoped that she wasn't the only one to receive combat training as the door burst open to reveal a group of 15 people armed with melee weapons of somekind. They probably wanted to bring the kids back alive so they didn't have guns. She stared with the same dark grin she had and said "Alright then...Who's first?" She raised her arms up and out of each of her forearms came large blades made of blood. The 15 attackers remained still, waiting for the kids to make a move.
Eventually, three men rushed Mia. She chuckled to herself as she dashed forward, cutting through the first soldier quite easily. The second one came from behind, so Mia Kicked her leg out and a spear of blood shout out from her foot, impaling the man through the heart. She retracted all of the blood within her body to avoiid going weak from "losing" too much blood and as the third man approached her, she palm striked his chest, and sent a small shard of blood into him. With her blood inside, she focused and then hundreds of spikes made from his own blood come out from the man's body and he fell limp. She merely sighed and said "Top fucking weak."

Next you'll say...
Claire smiled at Eli. It was pretty clear what she was doing, so she didn't bother answering that question, but she did want to strike up a conversation of some sort. Spending a moment in thought as to how to express her question, she decided on drawing a small arrow between Eli's picture and everyone else's. Beside the arrows she also drew a heart with a question mark beside it.
Do you like them? She didn't project anything in particular to go along with the implied question, since her sketchbook was enough to get her point across. After a moment, she sketched a very quick self-portrait, and drew arrows from it to everyone with hearts. I like everyone here, (‘∀’●) was the obvious implication. She also could not help but overhear Mia's statements. Claire thought she was a little scary, that was for sure, but more than anything else Claire thought it was a little sad that she thought she was a monster. The two of them would need to talk later, maybe what she needed was a friend to pick her up a bit.
Before their conversation got a chance to go very deep, it was time for the next class. The teacher introduced herself in a straightforward manner, and then set them to work. Having completely forgotten about any plans to socialize, Claire dug herself in to work on one of the canvases. Despite her artsy nature, she was especially bad with paint, and the result looked absolutely nothing like anything, but she had a big smile on her face as she worked. At the end of the class she took a step back, as she seemed to be finished. In the end, it seemed she had drawn some blobs outside of an extremely childish-looking house. It looked like something a 6-year-old would bring home from kindergarten. With an even bigger smile, she took out a dark pencil and gave a name to her art: "Dinosaurs." Somewhere in France, Pablo Picasso rolled over in his grave.
Lunch came quickly, and as soon as she had set her stuff down to eat (she had been the last in line, since she didn't want to hold anybody up trying to get her food), Mia made her announcement. If it was to be a fight, Claire had a bit of basic self-defense training, but... she was not confident at all in a fight. She had never really been in a fight since she had been taught anything, and the only fights she had been in had been losing ones.
Still, when two men rushed her, the logical part of her that felt fear shut down, and her only concern became staying alive. As one of them rushed around her back to grab her, the other stayed at her front, ready to strike, or grab her if she turned around. Instead, she waited patiently for the grab, remembering her training in Aikido. Suitable for someone small like her, Claire's supervisors had determined it to be the best way for her to defend herself, with the least risk in case she decided to attack anybody else. The man looking to strike her held a bat, the man behind her held a knife. That meant he would probably reach around with his knife hand, to increase how threatening the attack would be.
Her intuition was right, and as the first man went for her neck and arm to grab her, she reached around and grabbed his arm before it completed its arc, forcing him back into a compromising position. The man buckled to his knees, and she used the opportunity to seize his knife and jump back to safety. That was the easy part. The hard part was how to get them to submit. She was just a little girl, all she had was her power to her name... But maybe with a bit of quick thinking...?
Quick thinking indeed! o(｀ω´*)o Flipping the knife around in her hand, she quickly put her plan into action. Rushing toward the second man, she raised her arm as if to stab him right in the face, as the man raised his bat to defend himself, she stabbed his hand with her other arm. Before the attacker could realize what was going on, he had been stabbed once in each hand, and once in the foot. Nothing by any means fatal, but he very quickly gave up the idea of fighting and sank to the ground.
"What the hell...? Your left hand?"
With a grin Claire grabbed the man's bat with her right hand, which had only been holding the illusion of a knife before. Now with a bat in one hand and a knife in the other, she turned to the first man, who had gotten up, but was now unarmed. Now cautious, he waited for her to make a move, which worked to her advantage.
Maybe this was going to be easy after all? ψ(｀∇´)ψ Putting both of her hands behind her back, she acted as though she was changing which hand was holding what. When she brought her hands out, however, she also projected six other arms. Now looking like some kind of hindu baseball deity, she rushed at the man, all eight 'arms' poised to attack. Of course one of those arms was holding a knife, not a baseball bat. As she closed the distance, she didn't give the man any time to think. Swinging wide from the outside with all of her weapons, and the man raised both of his arms to shield himself from the imminent pincer strike. Claire drew a sharp breath in and braced for impact...
...and promptly kicked the guy right in the crotch.
The poor man crumpled to his knees once again in defeat. He wouldn't be attacking anybody any time soon either.
"'least it was her foot, not the knife I guess..."
Just as Claire was congratulating herself, a third man rushed her out of nowhere, tackling her to the ground. She dropped both of her weapons in surprise with a silent gasp. As the man grinned, pleased with himself, he hoisted her up to drag her away. That was his only mistake. Claire was able to leverage herself with that motion and break free. As the man rushed her a second time, Claire had to think fast once again, and didn't make it in time. The attacker landed a strong punch to her gut. Thankfully she was able to weave away and finalize her strategy. Standing up straight, she closed her eyes and concentrated as hard as she could, projecting an entire second version of herself, beside herself. Her assailant blinked, but rushed forward, aiming a punch at where she used to be standing.
Bzzt! Wrong answer! Using the same tactic she used against the first man, she grabbed the oncoming arm and flipped the man over using his own momentum. Quickly grabbing the bat she had dropped, she hit the grounded and wincing man once in the gut and once in the head, more than enough to knock him out, but not enough to make him bleed.
Rather pleased with her victorious self, she gave herself a momentary mental high-five, and then moved on to see if she could help anybody else.
James listened to Mia´s speech about his past, then about herself with keen interest. He knew she was telling him the truth, but it was still hard for him to accept it. He could have killed him. But when she placed his hand on his shoulder, he looked into her face, at first his eyes sad. He felt hopeless for a brief moment, lost, abandoned. He then looked at her face again. She was smiling at him. He looked at her, and smiled back. Not the forced smile people usually make in situations like this. It was a smile that came from deep inside of him. He meant it, he was feeling a bit relieved, a bit happier. He saw a faint flicker of hope that one day, he will be able to change as well. Not that he did not change since the incident with that unlucky boy. But he needed to change further if he is to fill the role in the future of the world he was introduced to on their previous class. He still had some time until that day, but starting in advance could only do good in this case. At last, it was not a homework.
Then Mia talked about herself, for a change. He was a bit sad about her being unsuccessful about her attempts with other kinesis abilities, but he could offer her help with this. She knew the pain of failure, and how to overcome it, it was cleanly visible on her. Maybe her powers were even worse, no, they were certainly more dangerous than James´s Psychokinesis, or the ability of any other of the young people in the class. But that does not change the person she was, and he was getting a proof that she is a very nice, kind person. As a response to her calling herself monster, he quietly told her, so quietly that only she could hear him. " You´re not a monster. You´re Mia Feral, my classmate and ... and a nice person. " he told to her, not sure if she heard it. Then he turned around, just in time to see Claire´s reaction. " I like everyone here. " he read, and smiled at Claire, too. " I like you too, Claire. Everyone here. We should do just as Mia said right now. " he told, more to himself than to everybody else around him. And Mia plays the bass. That was a surprise answer. Frankly, that was just him.
After their small talk, the class was on the move once more, this time to the art class. The class that he actually looked forward to, as the one thing in which he was good was drawing. As the teacher entered, she once again asked them to call her by her casual name, Clarissa. James was a bit surprised at this, but he would follow through. Once they got their instructions, he looked at the canvas before him. He grabbed his pencils and placed them before the canvas. He imagined what he wanted to draw. He read a lot about foxes, including the mythology around them, so he decided it will be a Nine Tailed Fox. If that beast could overcome the prejudices the world had against it, then surely they will be able as well. He grabbed one of the pencils, and focused his mind onto grabbing the other two pencils. His hand started with the hand of the fox, while the pencils, now sliding on the canvas as he directed them with his mind, concentrated on the tails. It was quiet hard for him to maintain perfect control of all the three pencils, but he managed to do so, thanks to the training the government gave him. He had a lot of free days while he enjoyed his stay with them, so he trained a lot. Still, he had to make corrections with the gum from time to time. As the teacher returned, James was finishing the last lines. It was far from done, far from perfect, but he looked at the picture of a Nine Tailed Fox, and he smiled at it. But he suddenly realized he was hungry after using his abilities so much.
When they sat down and started to eat, a friendly chit-chat started between them. In these situations, he felt comfortable. He did not say too much, but responded to the topics he found interesting for himself. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, so he could relax a bit as well. As he was halfway done with his meal, Mia warned them about something, then she counted all the way up to fifteen. James looked at her a bit puzzled, but then she asked them about their readiness for a fight. He was a bit confused, but he quickly found out what fight was Mia talking about. A few seconds later, the doors opened, with fifteen armed thugs standing in them, armed with melee weapons. " Capture, not kill, right ? " he asked them, without expecting them to answer. " Very well ... you picked the wrong place to cause a mess. " he told them. Three thugs rushed at him without hesitation, and James sighed. He really disliked using his powers for this, but they left him with no other choice. He imagined his hands pushing the thugs away, and indeed, they were pushed back as if by invisible hands, the expansion of James´s mind. The thugs got up without hesitation and charged him once more. " Can´t be helped, I guess. " James told for himself.
He clenched his fist and imagined it hitting the thug in the middle, then he extended his hand as if he was punching him. The thug was hit in his chest with the expansion of his mind, knocking him out for good. The two of them stopped for a brief moment, giving James just what he needed - time. He moved once more, this time smashing with his elbow, imagining it hitting the second thug. A second later, the second thug was limping to the ground, a small stream of blood flowing from his head. Maybe he overdid it a bit, but it was in self-defense. The one remaining thug now looked a bit scared, but was still a threat to him. But not to be knocked out. James wanted answers. He reached out with his hand as if grabbing the him by his neck and lifting him to the air. Of course he could only do that with his mind. As he hung in the air, powerless to do anything, James shouted at him. " Who are you ? Who sent you ? Why us ? " he finished, without really expecting an answer. As it did not come, he decided to smash him against the wall, knocking him out in the process, letting his unconscious body fall to the floor, turning to the others, to find out if they needed help.
"You're not the monster fox anymore. You're one of my team-mates from Konoha… Kurama."
"You guys piss me off so badly that I can't even express it in words… So I'll just tell you something about me… I'm no trash!! And I'll never become trash!! And I won't let you kill my comrades!!"
Canadian from Canadia
Chris looked up as Mia announced that they should get going to their next class. Compared to the only other female in the class, she was seen as a deeper person than Claire. Her power was more dangerous too. He'd need to keep a closer eye on her, mostly due to the way she looked at him when he gave up the bet. Mia was suspicious which meant she was sure to pry at him or Eli for what happened. He'd have to make sure Eli kept his mouth shut about it too, adding to his workload. As they prepared to leave and head to art class she felt the need to tell them about her artistic talent as a musician. She played Bass guitar. Not really his taste, but at least someone else played an instrument. Chris played electronic piano, even though his power most likely played a rule in his talent he still found it enjoyable. The group soon left the classroom and headed to art class, he thought about leaving but figured it'd be best to continue on through the first day of school.
Soon after they arrived at the new classroom he took a seat at one of the canvases that were sat up prior. Chris listened as the teacher introduced herself once again asking to be on a first name bases with them. Something he wasn't too bothered about, considering they'd probably have to see them a lot. The she told them the things they'd be doing in the course which was of course things like painting, sculpting and music. When class started she instructed them to paint, not exactly something he liked. She on the other hand decided to leave while they worked. Not the smartest thing to do with a bunch of kids with super powers in Chris's eyes. Either way he stared at the blank canvas thinking of things he could do. Finally he picked up the brush and began painting a city. It was to represent the so called "Last City" that they were to lead but he left the people out. He wasn't sure if he should add them yet because he wasn't sure if there would be any people to populate it. The whole "Last City" idea may not even work out so it could be a waste of time.
The teacher soon came back to them. Despite saying she'd be only gone a short time, the whole hour had gone by. Chris got up and stood back from his painting, overall it was well-done, no smears or bad paint mixing to ruin it. But he'd finish it later, when he was more certain whether it would have people. As the group put away there things there teacher pushed them off to lunch. This time he wasn't the last to leave the classroom but instead was tailed by Mia. She began to whisper to him as they walked. "I know you found Eli. I also know you whispered something to him. I'm not really interested in what it is you said, or why you lost on purpose, I just wanted to say don't cause any trouble. The last thing the five of us need is to be at each other's throats, especially if we are going to work together in the future. That's all I wanted to say." She quickly caught up to the group after finishing.
Chris was to busy laughing at the thought of her telling him not to cause any trouble instead of being worried that she caught on to what he did. Telling me to behave? Hard to take advice like that from someone who could probably kill someone with one slip up of there power. Don't worry Mia, I just plan to remove the thorns in my side if I have too.' Of course Chris didn't know if she had full control over her power but it was safe to assume none of them have. She also had one of the more dangerous and unstable powers too. Still she knew what happened and but she didn't seem to have any intentions of telling anyone, so he'd let her be.
Eventually he arrived at the Cafeteria. There was only one table which left him disappointed but he decided to take the seat next to the already sitting Claire. ' No risk of her trying to chat with me I guess.' He smirked at his clever joke as he sat down. Chris began eating his food slowly. The table wasn't too lively, especially with everyone just meeting each other a few hours ago. He barely managed to get 3 bites when Mia jumped up alarmed, announcing people headed there way. She then counted them off before stopping at 9, announced that there were more than 10 people headed there way. Chris didn't really paid much attention to the incoming people but more to what Mia had done. 'I wonder...' He thought. 'Can she only count 10 people accurately? He sighed. It was reassuring to know that even her demonic power had it's limits.
Soon enough the people arrived armed with various weapons. Mia raised her arms and announced her excitement. Revealing her rather violent nature. Something that was even more disturbing with her power. It wasn't long before a brawl broke. Chris watched Mia as she gruesomely dispatched her opponents, leaving them bleeding like fountains. Disturbing to say the least. Next was Claire who mainly flipped her opponents and slowly took them out one by one. Finishing the one of them with a brutal kick to the crotch. Making Chris's spine shiver. Then James took the fight a little more lightly. His victims didn't seem to have many life threatening injuries but were badly bruised and bleeding. Chris turned his head back to the three that were sent for him as James questioned one of them on the floor.
Chris smiled at his attackers. "Don't even think about it. You'll be sorry." Of course, the 3 were to thick headed to heed his warnings and came at him anyway. The first one came running at him with a knife. Chris stood up and spun his chair around. As the first assailant grew closer Chris looked at him in the eye. He kicked the chair at the man who tripped over it falling on his face, leaving him unconscious. His knife managed to slide to Chris's feet. He picked it up and looked at the second man, carrying a stun gun. " Do me a favor and drop that." Chris threw the knife and it pierced the mans hand. He dropped to his knees crying from the pain. The last man stood with his bat in hand. Hesitating after seeing his two comrades falling without Chris's even breaking a sweat. "Are you feeling lucky, punk?" Chris laughed to taunt the man and it worked. He charged at Chris with a killing intent but made it no closer. Chris had managed to sap his luck and leave it in a poor state while he took down the other two. The last man slipped on a puddle of blood which had spurted from one of Mia's victims, he flew head first and hit himself on the head with the bat as he made contact with the floor. " Three of a kind!" Chris shouted as he hit the floor.
Chris then approached the man who was bleeding from his hand, due to the knife he had thrown. " You made me lose my appetite asshole!" Chris booted the guy in the face leaving him on the floor with the other two. Even though watching Mia was really what sapped his appetite. He looked around at his job, pleased with how it turned out. He looked over at Mia. "See..." He spoke with a smirk on his face. "I'm actually no trouble at all, they practically beat themselves up."

The World Of Phantoms
Mia watched the others as they handled their respective 3 men to fight except for Eli. He seemed to have some trouble, being able to outmaneuver the first two that approached them and taking them down, but the third one taking a knife to his side. This set Mia off, she might not have exactly liked Eli based on what little interaction the two of them had have up to this point, but she didn't feel he deserved to be hurt like that. Her rage over took her as she rushed the last soldier standing and with both her blood blades stabbed the soldier right through his back. She lifted him into the air with ease and simply said "Disappear!" as his own blood tore him to shreds, creating a fine mist of blood and a corpse missing a chunk of out it's midsection. She dropped the body and with her abilities went to work on Eli. She quickly sutured his wound using her blood abilities and stopped any internal bleeding he might've had and then he passed out from a mix of pain and blood loss, but he would be fine after some time to heal and rest.
She noticed something from one of the fresh corpses she made, a necklace with a cross on it. She inspected the living soldiers and said to James "Don't bother, these guys aren't gonna talk easy and once they do, they'll just spout religious bullshit. It's one of the "Holy Crusade" groups that exist. Basically, they believe that the whole Impact Aura event is the devil's temptation or something, and that all children born with gifts are products of the devil. They believe that by capturing and "purifying" us Last Gen that they can cure humanity, that this is just a test from God and the Devil to test humanities' will to purge evil...All these guys planned to do was capture us and then torture us to death...Why give them anything different?"
She raised her hand and lifted the eleven living soldiers by manipulating the blood in their body. The sheer pain sensation caused them all to jolt awake if they weren't with a scream of agony and she dropped one of them. He was slightly more decorated, armed with a special plated army blade. She grinned and said 'So...You the leader of this little squad?" He spit at her feet, and she merely chuckled and said "You have five seconds to start answering my questions. For every five seconds you don't answer, I kill one of your men."
The man laughed and said "We were all prepared to die for our cause demon! Don't think you can scare us so easily." Mia merely chuckled and said "Oh sweet heart, I haven't even begun to try. Well, your first five seconds are up, so here, watch as you condemn one of your "brothers" to death." She sat one of the other ten on his knees infront of their leader and made the leader watch his pain contorted expressions and hear his screams of agony until he fell silent. She was about to place a second man on the ground when the leader cracked and said "ALRIGHT! YOU WIN!"
He broke down in tears and that was when the teachers arrived to witness the carnage. James Madison was the first there, and instead of being mortified or worried, he called in security to clean up everything and arrest the living soldiers. Clarissa was the next to arrive with a shorter woman. She seemed to be dressed in exercise clothing and had a whistle around her neck. She ran over with Clarissa to Eli and looked at the wound and nodded to Mia. James walked over and patted Mia's shoulder, saying "Good job of disposing the trash. Next time though, keep it cleaner. We don't need a repeat of the Frost Wind incident."
Mia nodded and said 'Yes sir..." She sutured the wounds on her forearms from her self made weapons as Clarissa tended to Eli. She informed the others that he'd have to be taken to the medical center for a little to handle his wound properly, allow Mia did a decent job given the situation. The other woman identified herself and "Karin Karma, the phys ed teacher. I'm here to teach you really how to handle yourselves in combat so you can be more prepared for situations like this. For now though, we're going to let you guys relax in the gym and just stay there until the area is secured."
After that, five armed guards escorted the four kids to the gymnasium and watched them from the doors, leaving Mia, Claire, Chris, and James to talk amongst themselves. Mia waited a little before saying "So...What do you all think of me now that you've pretty much seen every side of me?"
Next you'll say...
Claire mentally kicked herself. She hadn't been attentive enough to stop Eli from getting hurt... It would be a while until she could forgive herself for that. Eli had been her first potential friend, and now she wouldn't be able to speak to him for some time. I gotta get stronger, for sure.
But what really set her off was Mia. Her violent nature came to the surface, and Claire couldn't do much but stand in awe. It was pretty clear she was right at the top when it came to combat, as much of an acheivement as that was, or was not. Self defense was self defense, though... There wasn't really anything she could say about it. Everyone had their differences. Claire wasn't gonna get anywhere questioning every little thing that her comrades had to do to get by. There was no way she could judge anybody just because they were different from her. That would make her the same as the people who had hurt her before. Surely the others here knew the same pain.
With a few refreshing blinks and slaps to the face, Claire regained her usual vigor. I wonder what we're gonna do with these guys though? Between them, only Mia had really killed anybody. The rest had, like Claire, tried to avoid violence.
She didn't have to wonder for long. Mia had taken the reins on this one as well. Without focusing too much on the grisly details, Mia had decided that torture was an appropriate thing to do. Claire had her differences, but it was like Mia was in a different state right now, and she didn't really want to get in the middle of a situation that was, clearly, over her head. Mia knew who these guys were, she knew what they wanted, she had known how many there were. Claire had no idea about any of those things. Though shw had no voice, and though she never abandoned her stone-faced observation, Claire was screaming internally as she watched on of the men contort in pain. As he screamed, so did she, and even after the man had fallen silent, Claire's head was still buzzing.
After the teachers arrived, it seemed like everyone was waiting for Mia to land herself in some serious trouble. But the teachers didn't seem much bothered, like it was something they had been prepared for, almost. It seemed like they were looking at her, not with scorn, but with sympathy...? Like it wasn't her fault that the cafeteria was now smeared with blood. Claire could take it all in a thousand times, but no matter how she looked at it, her mind firmly rejected the situation. After the thousandth time, Claire wasn't in any mood to argue. The situation obviously was what it was.
Obviously she kept silent while she was being shepherded into the gym, and she was not the first to try and pick up the conversation. It was, again, Mia. This was beginning to be a pattern.
"So... What do you all think of me now that you've pretty much seen every side of me?"
What do we think...? As if now she was asking for permission, for acceptance. Not before she murdered people, not before she tortured enemies who weren't going to harm her. Not before the incident was shrugged off by the teachers. If ever Claire had a breaking point, this must have been it. The blood inside her started to boil and her muscles caught fire, Her brain shot sparks through her eyes and her teeth grit with the sound of metal against metal. Normally metaphorical emotional responses leaked to the surface through her ability, and Claire started to physically glow as though she were red hot. And normally hidden thoughts leaked to the surface in a very physical way. Her vibrant eyes now burning red made one message very clear:
"Better grit those teeth!!"
Planting one foot directly in front of her classmate and pivoting one foot behind herself for stability, Claire let loose with the force of all her pent-up frustrations. Her anger took the form of a clenched fist aimed straight for Mia's emotionless face! With an unclean sound, flesh and bone crashed into each other.
The impact was, ompared to the windup, completely unimpressive. Claire was not muscular, she had little training in the way of strikes, and her build was slight. A nosebleed and bit lip was about all that could be expected from such a small person. Maybe Mia staggered, maybe she hit the ground. Through the fog that was Claire's brain, it didn't matter. Maybe nothing happened at all, and she immediately stopped her bleeding with her power. Maybe she was still standing there. None of it mattered. What mattered was that, after a moment of silent thought, and Claire whipping out her sketchbook, Mia was still standing in front of her. She needed to listen. But through her emotions, the words Claire wrote on the pages started to blur together as she wrote in a flash.
"There was no reason for that!"
"Those were people!"
When the words became little more than scribbled lines, Claire stopped herself. With resignation, she heaved a large sigh and flipped another page, taking a moment to compose herself.
"I can't agree with you, but I'm sorry. I'm going to make you see the problem with your actions."
"Probably not tomorrow, but we're going to be together for a long time. Before the day comes that we have to part ways, you're going to stop killing people."
Once their " show " was finished, James looked around him a bit. Most of the thugs were only incapacitated, however, that was not the case with Mia. What she left in her wake was a bloody mess, not showing any sign of mercy for them. He was a bit shocked, seeing that the rest of the class went only after incapacitating them. James wanted to get some answers from them, curious about their motivation, but mostly about how did they managed to get into the school. Security was supposed to be tight around the area of the school, yet they appeared from nothing. He guessed they were severely underestimated here, storming in like this, carrying only weapons that could hurt them from close range. He understood they wanted to take them alive, but they should get a stun gun at least. Or were they that dumb ? Or anybody sent them did not care at all for them. His mind was racing to get any answers to these questions, only to realize that he was unable to come up with suggestions, one more wilder then the previous one. He decided to stop, but he just could not. His thought process was brought to a halt with something else.
As he ignored breakfast and did not have time to finish his meal before the attack. The resulting hunger, combined with a sudden outburst of his powers took a significant toll on his body. He suddenly felt a weakness in his knees, dropping to one of them, clenching his right hand into a fist. He was on one knee, supporting his body with his hand. He had lost himself a bit, realizing he put way too much force into his moves, causing several fractures to the attackers, some of them maybe even life threatening. His breath was heavy and fast, but the worst part was behind him. " That´s ... that´s why I should not skip breakfast, and get my lazy ass from the bed sooner. " he thought to himself as he saw a security detail arrive with some of the teachers. He saw Eli tended to, and he felt bad about his classmate getting injured, but somewhere deep, he felt it was his fault for being way too confident in his abilities. None the less, he hoped for a swift recovery from his side. After all, they were classmates.
Most of the conversation between the teachers and the rest of his class slipped past his ear, picking up only details from it about Mia making a mess. Well, that was true and fact. But she was damn effective. On the other hand, he did not understand anything about their " Holy Crusade " or how was it called. It reminded him of the grim days of the Middle age, the Christian Crusades that took time. Shedding blood for reasons like this. They wanted to shed their blood for something they were not responsible for, and that was absurd. He felt hated by the entire world, and somewhere deep within, he felt the shadow of a slight depression climbing up to him. It reminded him of when he was young, things were just like this. He was hated and despised for something he could not change, nor was responsible for. Then their teacher, James, mentioned something about the Frost Wind incident, and that peeked his interest. He will have to ask about it in the future. For now, he had to be patient. He took several deep breaths before being able to stand up to his feet again. He did so just in time to look at their physical education teacher, Karin Karma to introduce herself and telling them a word or two about their next class.
He grinned a bit, thinking she arrived a second too late to do that. Once that was done, they were escorted to the gym, leaving the rest of the teachers to handle the situation. Being surrounded by armed guards made him feel a bit uneasy once again. But this time, he understood it, and was somewhat grateful for their presence. Once they sat down in the gym, the group remained silent, only for it to be interrupted by Mia, asking them about their opinions. Claire was the first to react, and her reaction somewhat surprised him. He was still breathing a bit heavy, but when she punched Mia, he lost his breath again for a few seconds. Looking at her arguments made him somewhat uneasy, he knew she was right about them, but on the other hand, he was unable to feel pity for them. Should they not be stopped, who could know, what gruesome fate would be theirs in the Crusade´s hand. Once she was done, James stepped up.
" Mia. You know that was dangerous, maybe a bit over the limit. " he told her, his breathing still a bit heavy. " Claire is telling the truth, you must know that. But on the other hand ... on the other hand, you did what had to be done. Nothing more, nothing less. Maybe in a bit gruesome way ... but you did it. I guess you ... in some way, broke their resolve ... if that could be said. So in a ... in a weird way ... thank you." he told her, walking towards her. He made it look like he was going for his bag, and when he was next to her, he whispered so only she could hear him. " Meet me later. I want to talk with you, private. "
Chris proceeded to look around after the fight to investigate the attackers. He ended up taking notice in Eli, trying to figure out what had changed since the start of the fight. Finally he caught on to what he had done. During his own battle when he had taken the luck from his attacker, Eli must have been to close as his once lucky person had been drained of that luck and it was in a very poor state. In the end, Chris had realized his mistake too late to make a difference as he watched Eli take a deep cut by one of his attackers who made a desperate lunge. Chris felt sorry for what he had done, well by feeling sorry he had at least acknowledged that it was probably his fault. On the other hand, Eli injury now means one less person for him to deal with which was in a way disappointing because then the entire plan he had executed had been for nothing. But he'd just have to live with it.
Mia took the duty of taking care of Eli's attackers after watching him fall. This time she seemed more tame and actually kept them alive. Of course she had her reasons since not long after she took them all and began questioning them using means of torture. Chris didn't really care too much about it, despite her cruel ways at least she was being effective at what she was good for. The leader of the group eventually spilled his beans and revealed the "Holy Crusade" which was probably a shocker to most of them. Chris had already heard of the group and had even seen them before, he didn't really ever expect something like this too happen but based on their name they were definitely fanatics. The name was probably a reference to the christian crusades that were meant to "purge evil." Chris decided never to pay much attention to it. It only seemed natural for people to be afraid of them and if the word got out about normal humanity only having about ten years left than something like this would probably happen on a very normal basis.
Soon the teachers arrived with security and began cleaning the mess that had been created, mostly due to Mia. The teachers from their first and second class were among them as well as their PE teacher, Karin Karma, instructed them to head to the gym. The group followed the order and went to the gym to wait for the whole thing to blow over, meanwhile Eli was probably going to be taken to see medical attention. After arriving to the gym Mia, the one who everyone was probably the most worried about, decided to ask them how they saw her.
The answer was probably an obvious one for them. It was clear that they'd see her as monster, murderer or something along those lines. The one thing Chris didn't understand was why she seemed almost proud about it. Then Claire was the first to speak her mind. She thought the same as the rest of them and scolded Mia for what she had done. She used her notebook and angrily scribbled things which he revealed to her. Chris couldn't see them from were he was standing but she eventually calmed down and James backed her up. He showed how displeased he was but didn't really get as angry, trying to take the more reasonable approach. Finally he whispered something to Mia but it was too quiet for Chris to hear.
In all the commotion Chris decided he'd try and stop them from making noise. He came to the conclusion that Mia was proud of her power because she knew what it was used for and in the world where everyone would have niches to fulfill, it was hers to hurt and restrain. It was the first time someone there actually gave him a little faith in the future so he decided to take her side. "Claire, James, calm down." He began to speak. " As much as you guys might not like what happened just look at Mia's power. It's obvious what it's meant for and she uses it for it's purpose. As Mr. James said, we all have rules to fulfill in this new society and hers just happens to be what we just witnessed. With a power like hers it serves no other purpose that to hurt and kill others, like mine serves no other purpose than for people to abuse luck." He finished and sat down on the bleachers. At least now he finally understood why each power were given roles to perform. He still wasn't too happy about his role or was he even sure about what it was but it was something he'd have to deal with in the future.
The World Of Phantoms
Mia was surprised by Claire's action, although she understood where the girl was coming from. She felt her nose begin to bleed and wiped the blood from her face. She didn't look angry, but more upset. Not because of Claire, but her upset reaction made sense as she spoke to both Claire "How I wish I could be innocent like you. Not having to see the worst of all people, not having to be turned away from everyone because of what you are capable of doing. Not seeing the sins of humanity and having to bear all the weight o the world upon yourself...I'll never stop killing. It doesn't matter if I want to or not, my abilities serve no other purpose than to hurt, maim, dismember, and put people in the fucking ground. That's all there is to me."
She turned to James and said "I'm just going back to my dorm after this is over and sleeping. If you want to talk, it can wait until tomorrow." She sighed and shed a single tear as she thought about those she killed and then wiped it away. The one thing that affirmed her actions and ideals was Chris' input on the matter. She nodded and said "Exactly Chris...I do what I do that way others won't have to bear the guilt of killing and hurting...Hell once you've done it as much as I have the guild and pain just goes away..."
With that, she turned away and just tuned everyone else out. she thought about the blood on her hands more and eventually, Karin returned and said simply "Well, after the events today, I don't think anyone really needs to go physical education today. However, I do want you to stay behind Mia so we can talk to you, the Crusaders told us something that concerns you." She nodded as Karin turned to the others and said "Alright then, off with you all. Oh, before I forget. Come back to the school in a few hours. We're having a special dinner for you guys to help you relax and settle into school." If they were smart, they realized it was really just to keep them together and safer until they were absolutely sure that the crusaders were gone.
Once the students left, the teachers and Mia had a long conversation. For any students that decided to hide and eavesdrop in the situation, the conversation went like this.
It started with James explaining "So, we all know about the Frost Wind incident. Two of the Last Gen, an cyrokinetic and aerokinetic known as the "Frost Wind" pairing betrayed the government branch handling the training of several dangerous Last Gen, including Mia here. They gave information to the Crusaders about disabling the security system, and even helped them when fighting the Last Gen. There were two survivors, the "Sacred" Last Gen, and Mia here. The two of them survived due to Mia's hemokinetic abilities, and everyone else was dead, unfortunately amongst Mia's ability, about 50% of the deaths there was caused by Mia, in other words...Both sides suffered mass losses..."
Mia sighed and said in a growling voice "What the fuck is the point of this recap?"
James sighed and said "Unfortunately, the Crusaders tracked you to here somehow Mia, and now they're targeting you...What's worse is that the leader of the Crusader Branch assaulting us is this man." A picture of a man looking similar to Mia showed up on a projector screen and Mia gasped as James said "It's your brother..." The rest of the meeting went on with discussing plans of action, and for now they'd just use a turtle defense. Tighten up security and keep everyone together for safety, while authorizing Mia to do whatever was necessary to keep the other Last Gen alive, even at the cost of her own life.
After that, the students were gathered back in the cafeteria to have a nice dinner. The teachers were there as well and were smiling and enjoying dinner with the kids. Armed guards were visible at all the entrances and exits as well.
Next you'll say...
Claire's outburst had obviously not changed Mia at all. It seemed as though she had been through some tough times for far too long, and had settled into her own philosophy. She's gotten comfortable. Like she's decided she was a killer and nothing else... Chris had taken her side, and James had seemed uneasy about denying her. It didn't seem like he was going to tell her off, but he didn't seem to like her methods any more than Claire.
Mia's own speech made Claire's theories into truths. She really did believe she was only good for killing. She's not a monster... she's just a hurt child, like the rest of us... How can I open her eyes...?
The teachers and Mia both seemed to think that this incident would drive everyone apart. There was going to be a special dinner today, likely to help patch any holes that were caused by today. I'm not leaving so easily, though. No way. Instead, if necessary, Claire was ready to become the glue that held everyone together. She couldn't keep herself in this rut forever. Her course of action was already decided. She was going to keep being the light in the darkness. She had to be, she had to save lives. Somehow she felt it was something only she could do.
Giving herself a few more slaps for good measure, she came back to her senses. Too deep! Way too deep! ･ﾟﾟ･(>д<)･ﾟﾟ･ It was time to pull herself out of that world, and back into her own pace. Still, as she left the school, Claire realized that she didn't really have anything to do, other than maybe have a nice cold shower. Oh no, my pencil! It seemed like she left her pencil back at the gym. It wasn't really important, but... Mia was still back there, and if she could, she wouldn't mind talking to her and apologizing for her outburst.
As she neared the gym, Claire heard voices. It seemed like the teachers were still there talking to Mia. With no real goal in mind, Claire decided to wait outside until they were done. In doing so, she heard most of what they had to say. Something involving more of the 'dangerous' Last Gen kids, and Mia's brother. The teachers instructed Mia to do 'whatever it takes' to keep everyone alive and together, which almost set Claire off again, but given her situation, she kept her cool. Of course, her pencil was long forgotten, and by the time she made it back to her dorm, she had forgotten why she even went back in the first place.
Still, it didn't matter. None of it mattered. As Claire let the cold water penetrate right to her bones for more than half an hour, it was like she was in a state of meditation. Her course of action was clear. There was going probably going to be a shadow of death following them, but Claire wasn't intending to let anybody else die a pointless death. Nobody at all. There has to be something I can do with my ability. Some way to get stronger. There wasn't going to be an easy way to save anybody if she couldn't even save herself. There had to be a way to develop her abilities that could prove useful to somebody...
After she was in the water for about as long as she could handle, Claire changed her clothes (A red short-sleeved button-up T-shirt unbuttoned over a while long-sleeved shirt and light blue baggy jeans, very boyish-looking if she wasn't so petite,) and left for dinner.
Ah! I'm starved! ヽ(‘ ∇‘ )ノ She hadn't eaten all day, and the meal set in front of her was more than enough to get her appetite running. She didn't talk much during the meal, since her mind was focused on the food, but she very obviously seemed to have put everything that happened before behind her. It was easy to forget that she had just been glowing with rage a few hours ago, looking at her glowing smile now.
