April grunted, once again trying to yank the earbuds out of her ear. Once again, she failed. "Did they super glue this shit?" the pink-haired teen cried out angrily. "When I see that man again, he better tell me how to take these things out!" She stood on her front lawn, waiting for some kind of cab to show up and take her to her destination. It wasn't very far; she could have just took the bus, but she decided that it would be smarter just to follow the directions that he gave to her. She wouldn't want to make it so that she wouldn't be able to speak to the creep again.

Although she felt creeped out by this guy, she also felt incredibly excited. It had been a long time since she went on any kind of adventure, and this superhero thing was jaw-dropping. Everything in her life was so repetitive: sleep, eat, school. This was so incredible. Even if she did have the chance to turn back, she wouldn't spare a glance. April had always known she was missing something, and here it was. Forget working at McDonalds on the corner. She wanted to fight crime and save the city (or whatever she chose to do with her new abilities). She wanted for everyone to know her name, and to be on the cover of every magazine. She wanted to be noticed.

Knowing she was getting lost into her own thoughts, April was glad when she heard an engine approaching. She picked up her shoulder-bag and stepped down to the street, looking down the road for the cab. The cab wasn't there, but an expensive red cadillac was rolling smoothly down the road. "Whoever owns that must be rich," she mumbled at herself in awe as it approached. You can probably guess how surprised she was when it stopped right in front of her house.

    ★★★★★

After having filled her stomach with burgers and fries, the car finally reached their destination. April opened the door and said good-bye to the driver, of whom she happened to have a lovely conversation with. It wasn't exactly a conversation, but more of an attempt at one. An attempt that failed miserably. The man had seemed a little tired for some reason, and April guessed that he probably had a long day.

Closing the door with a thunk, April stepped up to the building, her boots making loud noises on the sidewalk. The New York streets were busy as always, which is why she loved this city. She loved the hustle and bustle, and the constant noise. She loved all of the people. There were so many different kinds, all unique in their own way. April even saw herself as somewhat unique. When she walked into the lobby of the expensive-looking hotel, the receptionist told her where to go, saying sonething about a dj. April just ignored her and left off in the direction of where she pointed. This led her to a more secluded room.

When she entered, she noticed that it was full of guys, throwing her off gaurd. She had came all the way here to give that man a piece of her mind, and even when she finally spotted him, she couldn't recall what she had wanted to say earlier. Each of the men had the same mp3 players as her, and their earbuds were attached to their ears too. This obvioysly has something to do with those mp3 players... she thought to herself. She wondered if the same thing that happened to her earlier had happened to each of them.

"Relax," DJ spoke up. "We are still waiting for others to arrive."

Sighing, April leaned against the wall by the door, so many questions roaming through her mind.

Marcus couldn't believe how great life was treating him. From photographing a vandalized car to riding in first class in a fancy jet. Marcus couldn't help but wonder what else was in store for him. A secret headquarts,a sidekick, and maybe even...his own action figure !!! Marcus continued to daydream about the possibilties as he sat back to enjoy the flight. Although he enjoyed all of this VIP treatment, something was bugging him. Although Marcus loved his new powers,he knew these things weren't toys. So just why were they given to him ? Was it an accident ? Some kind of world wide experiment ? An attempt to test out some kind of new weapons developed by the government ? Marcus began to rub his forehead as the questions continued to pile up. The only way his was going to find answers was by finding DJ. As the Jet begins to land,Jason quickly grabs two more bags of mixed nuts as the aircraft make a safe landing. Checking the address DJ gave him,he puts the information into his smartphone's GPS as he leaves the airport lobby. Sure he could take a taxi or just walk there and enjoy the sites on the way...but where's the fun in that ? Looking around for the nearest rooftop,Marcus turns on his MP3 player as he is instantly transported to a nearby rooftop. With his phone leading the way Marcus begins to teleport from rooftop to rooftop until he's in viewing distance of DJ's Loft. Looking through the windows,Marcus sees that a few others had already arrived. "Now lets see who else DJ invited to this party." Marcus says to himself as he jumps off the rooftop and teleports himself onto one of the empty couches. "Sorry I'm late, hope I didn't miss anything important." Marcus says to the group as he turns off his MP3 player as he stretches back on the couch.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift. That's why it's called the present.

    [Julia Castor | NYC]

New York. Is there even anything important that doesn't happen in New York?

Julia did not expect a personal transportation service. Even if she knew there was one she would have expected it to be a little more low-profile than the blood-red Cadillac CTS that she was now sitting in. See looked at the time on the plain white Swatch New Gent wrist watch she wore. In a single day she recieved an MP3 player from the largest manufacturer around, said MP3 player screwed its headphones magically into her skull, a mysterious man managed to climb onto her balcony and almost got hit by an imaginary tomahawk, and then she went on a flight across the country to land in New York and be driven by a man to a meeting place that she doesn't even know about.

She flipped through the MP3 player. Another two songs were on the same playlist. She wondered as she looked at the list, carefully not touching anything accidentally-the last situation she'll want to be in is when a random mideival weapon shows up in the rear-view, which will likely freak the driver up and have him run the car into a telephone pole or a fire hydrant or anything.

Vivaldi's concerto for two cellos in G minor. John Cage's 4'33''. Why did she even decide to download that? Pfft. She always had this compulsion to try out all things nonsense that run into her-when a silent soundtrack shows up in the available song list, for instance, or when a complete stranger hands her plane tickets and a wallet filled with cash. The cadillac headed deeper into the alien city and Julia continued to think about the event, about the headphones and the DJ and everything that happened, but somehow ended up wondering how far down you could cut a person open vertically without them dying or the intestines falling out. Oh well that is not a good habit.

Moments later, she was standing in a sburban alleyway so old and battered that she actually half expected the driver to assault her when he stopped the car instead of letting her off and turned around to head back down the streets. She made her way up to the loft, which was much more decent than she imagine a room would be in such a place. Several people were already there: an average looking man with his hair up in a fohawk and another with odd red hair and ear piercings were already speaking to each other, their vastly different dressing styles creating a curious and somewhat humerous contrast. She counted another four people, some seeming nervous and others relaxed , one was even casually lying on a couch nearby. And of course, there was that man who called himself DJ, in a different outfit but easily recognizable through his goatee and hair.

    "Eh, hi?"

She said, standing at the entrance, feeling rather awkward among a group of complete strangers. But well, she would love to see what happens next.

"Flight number 14 heading to New York City will be delayed. We apologize for the inconvenience."
    _

Mary slid down further in her chair and let out a long, deep sigh. After two hours of waiting, the plane was finally going to take flight. Well, she supposed pre-flight bad luck was better than bad luck during the actual thing. She just started living alone recently, so her parents didn't mind that she was to head the New York for a while, build independence and all. It was the daycare owner and children that needed a lot of coaxing to let her leave. A small spread across her face when she recalled the memory. It actually felt quite good to be missed- She winced at the sudden kick to the back of her chair. Her frown deepened when she found out her seatmate on the plane was an overweight man that smelled none too pleasant. At another kick on her chair and the sudden turning on of the air conditioner, she buried her face in her hands and just lamented... like usual.

After the dreadfully long flight and the hassle of moving through the crowds, Mary finally emerged from the airport entrance, her hands on her knees and her bag's strap hung loosely on her shoulder. Now she recalled why she hated crowds. The weight of her bag suddenly lifted and she looked up wearily at whoever had the gall to steal from her among so many people. The man smiled down at her. "Welcome to New York, Miss Parker. We have arranged for your transportation service. Unfortunately, we're running short on time, so we are to head directly to the meeting place. No time for rest or lounging around the city." He went over to the red car on the side and opened the door for her. She was unsure what model it was - being completely illiterate in vehicle brands - and glanced back at the driver suspiciously. Did he honestly expect her to just get in a car with a complete stranger like some child?... She was dead tired and her feet were sore from people accidentally stepping on it, so she figured, why not? "Do not worry, I am one of sir DJ's workers," he said in assurance.

... That made him even more suspicious. She just nodded in response and entered the car. She closed her eyes momentarily to rest and opened them when she felt a small shake of her shoulder. "We're here," the driver said, door open once again. Mary blinked and nodded dumbly before stepping out. She had no idea she was tired enough to sleep right when she felt the soft cushion of the car. But, come to think of it, that was a good thing. Nothing happened during the drive. In other words, nothing bad happened during the drive. No luck was better than bad luck!

The alleyway they arrived at thought seemed to be brimming with possible unfortunate accidents. She grabbed her bag followed his directions to where the meeting place is. Opening the entrance door, she was met with a much more refined and clean place. There were already six people present. The man she met the day prior, and five new faces. She stood by the doorway, not bothering to make her presence known and just waited.

DJ glanced around the room, doing a head count he noticed that the last of the little group had just arrived. "Alright Ladies and Gentleman, that appears to be all of you. If you would kindle gather around so i won't have to repeat myself later that would be fantastic." Dj waited for the group to gather before he speaking once again. "As you all know, my name is DJ. But what you did not know, was that I worked for Finity Tech. But i dropped the project, when everything became hidden and extremely secretive." Dj paced back and forth as he explained everything to the group, his shoes clacking on the floor as he went.

Dj looked around at the expressions of the people he was talking to, he wasn't sure how many would stay and participate in the group but he knew some would. "The reason i brought you all here, is to tell you that you are all experiments of Finity Tech. I want to put a stop to this, and to do that we need more information on where and how these devices are made." Dj paused for a moment before continuing. "Now, i will allow all of you a couple days sleep, before I call together another meeting. You are free to do as you wish with your rooms. everything is paid for. You will all receive a gentleman, or gentlewoman to come pick you up when i require your attention. But for now, i bid you farewell, and think about what i have told you. The next meeting however, will be about infiltrating the CEO of Finity Tech's Office and retrieving more information on the whereabouts of the factory these contraptions are built in. If you don't wish to participate, tell me then." With those last words DJ walked towards the front door, and with a nod left them in the room, to their own devices.

Jesse hated silences, and this group was awkwardly quiet which was worse than regular silence. "Come on everyone! does no one like talking in this group!?" Jesse looked around the room counting heads and looking at everyone individually. His eyes swept past a girl just as she entered, she was dressed in all black and was incredibly quiet. "Hey, You! Girl that just walked in, what's your name?! For that matter, what's everyones name!? I'm Jesse, now you." Jesse smirked at his little joke, he laced his fingers together behind his head and placed his hands on the back of his head.

Jesse turned his head towards the old man with the peppered goatee, with a twinge of irritation he hopped over the back of one of the couches, landing with a dull 'thud'. He stretched his arms over the back of the couch crossing his legs forming a T with his shins, and raised his eyebrow. He listened in on what was being said, his face never changing as DJ spoke. After DJ left them to be Jesse sat arms crossed, silently in thought his eyes closed.

After a minute or so, Jesse jumped out of his seat a grin spread across his face. "This sounds like a badass adventure! Who else is up for this?!" He looked around the room his big grin still spread across his face. "Who here has every been bored shitless of their lives?! I have! and this sounds like a damn good adventure!" Jesse reached out to the girl dressed in black who appeared rather shy. "You look like you could use an adventure!" Jesse smiled widely hoping at least one other person would agree.
