Most moshpits just involve people pushing each other around and having a jolly good time about it. Don't worry about getting punched. All you have to do is stay on your feet, though people will probably be quick to help you if you actually lose your balance and fall.

Either the Netherlands have incredibly tame moshpits or you're trying to kill him.

I’m sure most of you know what I’m talking about. There are some concerts I want to go to, but I’m sure a few of them’ll have moshes. Do people just start punching each other… I really don’t want to get my ass kicked.

As a frequenter of moshpits I can break it down for you.

Metal shows on average tend to have rougher pits where people are trying to hit one another and the like. Punk/rock shows have something called a Circle Pit. As in a previous post they are meant to have a good time. Hardcore concerts vary, sometimes people get a bit crazy, but otherwise those are fine.

If you're going in one dont expect to come out unscathed, they are optional and easy avoid. If you're a girl, you forfeit your gender given right to not being hit while in said pit, at the same time groping is still not cool. Picking people up is courtesy. Lastly, don't be an asshole and try fighting in the pit, someone will come along and remind you that its not cool, usually with their fists, knees, or elbows.

Also beware the one guy, he may or may not be there but he will be 6 feet tall and pure mass, and he will kill everything you love before you can go in a full circle in a the pit
