Gorrith's warning sounded distant, almost as though he was hearing it through water. But Scot heard it and heeded it. And he appreciated the stout dwarf's bravery for standing beside him. He would remember it. Dragons respect courage.

He stood in a defensive posture, waiting for the flesh-eaters to make a move. If they charged, he would as well to meet them halfway and distance them from the group. If they ran, Scot would not follow... but he would keep a keen watch as he and Gorrith lead them through the tunnels.

Ami was disgusted by the blood covered creatures, but merely wrinkled her nose. She reached into her bag and drew out a small piece of what looked like fibrous string, holding it lightly in her hand, then pulled out another object that looked like a crooked glass stick in her other hand. She did this all while keeping a close eye on the offending creatures. She tried to make the movements gentle and unsudden. She was tense, and ready to defend herself should they attack, but she did not want to provoke them.

Puff the polar bear hung back, obviously wary and unwilling to put himself in danger.
