I'm probably about half-way through the campaign after one sitting on the second highest difficulty, and I have to say I'm enjoying it so far. Controls are your standard Call of Duty-fare, but not nearly as polished. The aiming isn't super precise, and the loader suit thing is kind of spastic when you're fighting with it. That said, if you go in without really having expectations other than to relive the Alien universe, see the sets from Alien 2 in a game, and fight for your life against swarming alien bastards, you're probably going to find some form of enjoyment out of it.

The game is so-so, but I find it quite enjoyable. Fighting humans isn't so great, that's probably my biggest gripe. I appreciate they're changing up the formula a bit, but at the same time fighting the mercs is probably the most tedious, and difficult, part of the game. There's one mission part way through the game where you're stripped of your weapons and playing a stealth part, but I have to say it was a highlight for me because of how tense it got at parts. I like the weapon customization options, and for the most part, it's pretty solid shooting controls and what not and the weapons are fun. Finding 'Legendary' weapons belonging to movie characters is a highlight, especially since they're a bit different than the base weapons. It's kind of like getting one of the Specialty weapons in Farcry 3 where they're upgraded for you, and often with unique characteristics.

My recommendation would be to wait until this game inevitably finds itself on the cheap and just enjoy it without expecting a AAA shooting experience. I haven't gotten to multiplayer yet, but I've heard good things. Hopefully it's like Alien vs Predator.

I agree with Dervish on this.

It's a decent game, not terribly bad, or atrocious, Decent and fun.

I was thinking about getting this game, but lost all interest after hearing some things about it. Mostly from the video below. I always check out my favorite game reviewers now, and factor in what they have to say before I actually buy something. There’s been many a time that I’ve wasted $60 dollars on a sub-par game.

Anyway, the video’s what I’m bringing to the table here. I haven’t played the game, so I have no idea how valid these points are, but they seem legitimate.

I'll not sugarcoat it or anything, but if you want a quick answer to your "should I buy this?" - No, no you should not. Its not worth the price it asks you to pay for it, it feels like a shooter straight out of 2005. Save your money and buy bioshock infinite. Without a doubt will get more bang for your back. colonial marines is sluggish, boring, and so dull I found it hard fo complete. But i powered through it, no game should feel like a chore. Save your childhood, avoid this game. Of course, this is entirely my own opinion and some people may disagree wth me. Just don't say I didnt warn ya!

    Spoiler
Angry Joe was over the top excited about this game, but it was met with disappointment. So far, according to all game reviews that are official, the game is barely above 50%
