Of course, that doesn't likely cover all the thoughts and ideas you wanted to portray, but in my opinion on more pessimistic topics it's best to tell as much as you can, while using as few words as possible. Simply because most people would view the continued restating of such a pessimistic idea as whiny or detrimental to the writing. That of course is only my two cents, and i'm far from an accomplished writer myself...
