Zinzie let out a soft churrr as he peered at the strange device. After a moment, he reached up and pressed on of the many black buttons. As the blender spun to life, the grub shrieked and scuttled back. However, after getting over his initial fear, he inched forward to peak into the bowl as the ingredients mixed.

Jabiko, however, watched from the safe distance of the kitchen table. He looked up at the human girl and scratched the back of his head. "Well, we came from a planet called Talga. It was a great place to live...if you were among to lucky deemed 'royalty'. The rest of us were slaves. I escaped with Zinzie and my mate, Acarra. She...didn't make it."

Sympathy wasn't an emotion Bea played off well. She'd learned at an early age that being so fragile was remotely a weakness, and she despised being placed underneath petty amateurs. So, as a reaction, she decided to drop her head and frown, arching her back slightly. "That sucks," she said blatantly. "Did you two have a thing or something?"

Silence stretched and Bea came to understand that she'd just made the situation incredibly awkward if anything else, but personally, awkward was not in her vocabulary. Still, she turned to little Zinzie, startled by her mixer. She chuckled faintly and ceased the movement, allowing the liquid to settle. Dropping a pan on her stove, she turned it on accordingly and waited for it to heat up.

[Metronome]

"We had Zinzie," Jabiko said, clearly not comprehending what she meant by 'a thing'. Zinzie looked up as he name was said, looking over at his father with curious eyes. Jabiko smiled back at him, making the grub grin widely in response and make yet another adorable noise. Zinzie turned back to the bowl and looked at the dough. He carefully stuck a foreleg in it and pulled it out to lick some of the batter off. The grub let out a happy chirp and got another glop of pancake mix to eat.

Bea snorted and burst out laughing, doubling over almost on the ground at that moment. She swiped tears away with the back of her hand, still sarcastically chortling. "Oh my god, you're fantastic," she cackled, grinning from ear to ear. Bea shook her head wildly, attempting to explain what she'd meant, refusing to simply 'let it be'. "A thing! With that girl. Like, were you guys ... girlfriend and boyfriend? Were you -- shaking the bed? Um, intimate?" Considering that he was indeed an alien, it was difficult to properly describe what all she was trying to make out.

"Let's put it this way ... was she your significant other?" she questioned, ladling two spoon fulls of pancake mix, promptly pouring it on the skillet with a grave amount of intent. Bea spotted Zinzie enjoying the raw mix and unsure of whether or not he could get sick by eggs, she let the thought slip her mind and plucked a bowl, handing it over to the little one with care, spooning a small quantity of mix for him. "He must really like sweets."

"Oh, well yes, I suppose so." Jabiko seemed to be made a bit uncomfortable by the topic. He soon excused himself to go 'freshen up' in the bathroom. Meanwhile, Zinzie was licking up his bowl of pancake batter, getting it all over his stumpy legs and face. When he had licked the bowl clean, the grub looked up at the girl expectantly. He gave a soft, almost catlike purr in hopes that she would give him more.

However, before he could get any more batter, Jabiko came back in and grabbed him up. "Don't spoil your dinner," He said as he carried the grub to the table and sat down. Jabiko became quiet for a while, as if he wanted to say something, but couldn't figure out how. Then, he finally spoke what was on his mind.
"You uh....humans...are very strange..ahem, down there," He said, very hesitant.

When Jab had finally disappeared, Bea grinned down at Zin and flicked her wrist, a spatula slowly but surely rising. It struggled slightly but rose with great reluctance, ruffling its wooden top at her. Amused, she rolled her eyes. "Sassy," she said, watching as it shoveled the pancake, sliding it onto a plate nearby. Pleased, Bea relaxed, shrugging her shoulders at little Zinzie. "What can I say? I've got skill."

However, this moment of pure triumph didn't last for Jab was back, and he'd done so quietly and with ease. Stifling a gasp, the spatula clattered to the ground, and she swiveled to the boy, attempting to act as if nothing had occurred. "What? Hm? Yeah. Humans and sex. Can you really blame us though? It feels good."

[Metronome]

"No," Jabiko said, his face turning a light shade of maroon. "I mean it just like...hangs out? All the time? Doesn't that ever bother you?" He petted Zinzie on the head. The grub clearly had no clue as to what he was talking about. Zinzie was peaking over the table, watching the pancakes as they were being made.
